Have you ever wondered like I have over the years. If you could take an ultralight pack load of under 10 lbs. Not only having it comfortable on your back when you are hiking. But have what's in that pack load. To be comfortable when you take it off your back. When you get to camp, at the end of the day. After hiking for hours.
For months I have been researching for gear that is not only lightweight. But very functional. Not just for an over-nighter. But for multiple days on a hiking trip.
Now I would like to share the gear I had on my back, besides food, water, and fuel. That was under 10 lbs. And took a week-long trip on the Centennial trail. In the Black Hills of South Dakota. With adverse conditions. I was not only comfortable on the trail but also very comfortable in the rain and with temperatures near freezing at camp.

Brother you've dialed it in. I've just been diagnosed with arthritis (old injury) in my right ankle and although I wasn't heavy before I am looking at super light weight now. Some great pointers here - it all counts. Thanks dude. I trust you're well. Mark

Interesting…very advanced in fact! Hi from UK. I attach a pair of crocs rather than flip flops using a piece of para cord and a climbing clip to the outside of my rucksack. Also a Nitecore head torch and a small Nitecore torch which lasts 2.5 hours at 200 lumen. I am not an expert like you though.

I am no expert. I am always learning to be a little better. The Crocs are the best camp shoes by far. I even use them to portage the canoe with a pack on my back. From lake to lake in the Boundary Waters. Thank you Hamwhacker for watching. I really appreciate it.

😂😂😂😂never shake the hand of a lightweight on trail! Best advise ever. I seldom watch gear reviews but love your channel & haven’t watched in awhile. I’m familiar w/ all the gear & use my trusty cheap see-thru ziplocks. Those sandals tough 😂 I think anybody wearing those has to be simultaneously smoking a bowl in GGG titanium one hitter or pipe w/ short or long stem. A new look for you - add a pony tail & slowdown a bit. Runners there. 😂

My husband likes your channel and wanted to show me your videos. They are great! What state do you live in? In one video the lake in the distance was like a beautiful baby blue color. Where I live, I’ve only seen brown lakes and the Chattahoochee River here is brown, too.

Tell your husband I said Thank you. I live on the border of Wisconsin and Minnesota. Next to the St. Croix River. I am on the Wisconsin side. As I am writing this. I can look out the window and see Minnesota. Most lakes up here in the North Country are are clear and blue. Some you can even drink out of with no worries. Thank you Gojolly63 for watching. Great load out Ron! Feels good with a lighter pack. Where did you get the Kevlar straps. I recently bought the Spiderweb Straps from Dutch. but I’m worried they will roll up and cut into the trees. The strap chair was interesting. 👍

I have a few that I got from Dutch a couple of years back. Like a Cuban Fiber tarp. They are strong. But if something sharp comes against it. They will brake. You have to be careful with them. I found out the hard way. Thank you Dan for watching. I always appreciate it.

Very svelte! And a good presentation too. If you need to carry more but don't enjoy the belly band much, like me -- you might consider a decent hip bag like the Savotta Askare 7L. With or without using the PALS webbing, it can carry heavier small items and even a small tent, leaving my 30L vest harness shoulder pack for bulky, lightweight items. The weight can quickly be taken off your shoulders by resting the upper pack on the lower "shelf" -- and the weight on your hips never shows up on the shoulders!

The bags are ok but my ziplocks are see thru, cheap & work. Those Sandlers make me smile but really if you wear those you must have a ggg ul titanium one hitter or ty cob pipe. I’d be willing to bet Runner has one 😂😂😂 Like your closing music.

With an ultralight pack. It is more comfortable not to use the waist belt. And only use the shoulder straps. Buy once the weight goes over 15 lbs. ( for me ). Then it is time to put on the waist belt. Plus taking off and put on the pack was so much easier and of course faster. Thank you Lukaass for watching. I really appreciate it.

Hey, for a 6'2 guy, weighing 250 lb, how big of a hammock would you guess would be big enough for a permanent shelter? Was looking at the kingsize Ticket to the moon version, but 90 inches wide seemed a bit too much? Was also looking at Lesovik Draka (11 feet long, 60 inches wide), But those 60 inches seems a little narrow? Yes im a total noob. Thanks. SUBBED!

Nothing worst than wearing rain pants when hiking. Especially crossing a river. Like we did three times on that trip. The rain pants cause overheating and restriction on your strid when hiking a good pace. Plus they eventually cause chaffing. With the rain kilt. ( skirt ) Only the bottom of your pants below the knees will get wet. But if wearing shorts. That would not matter. Great air flow so no over heating. ( sweating ) And with the legs free and open. You still can have a great strid with no restriction. No chaffing. Part two is coming out next Tuesday from our trip on the Centennial Trial. You attach it to a water bottle. And than after your number two is done. You squirt the water up your behind to clean. People will use this instead of toilet paper. They are big in the European countries. Thank you Lecoachonsporctif for watching. I really appreciate it.

Personnally in the poop pouch i have a micro bottle of water + a micro bottle of liquid soap to put on the toilet paper to finish the job right clean. very nice gear and well thought out ,I made a back pack this winter based upon a teton 85L pack with the underquilt, wind sock, hex fly, HH jungle exped, freeze dried food , gas one stove, kettle etc all comes to 35lbs

Little trick with the Sawyer squeeze: I fit their inline adapter on the outflow of the filter, and it pops right into the Smartwater sportscap for a no spill filtration😁. My luxury item: Onewind’s Gear hammock, makes for a very neat rest for snacks plus an off ground backpack and shoe storage at night under my hammock

I really try to do an honest review on gear. Is it functional or not. For an example. Those three luxury items. ( camp shoes, saw, and strap chair ). I need to do more testing in different conditions and situations to see if they are worth having in the pack for a trip. Then I will do a review. It is a small apparatus that fits on a water bottle. Instead of using toilet paper. You squirt water up your behind. To clean your bottom. I was a Scout Snipper in the Marine Corp. But I am afraid my aim is not as good as it use to be. Thank you Manreus for watching. I really appreciate it.

Thanks. Another question, I’m looking at the HG phoenix. It’s 52” x 44”, which is smaller than most at 55” x 45”. I’m 6’4”, do think the phoenix would be big enough. I too have a wide 12’ hammock.
