Is there any skate owner that's more transparent about flaws and more clear about how to fix them going forward? After all these years of Gear Talk I would have expected nothing less.
the sizing is so good and they feel amazing on my feet. i did have that ankle pressure point and the stretch technique didnt work but i sanded that fin down with a Dremel and it felt wayyy better
the attention to detail is impressive, all the issues is so minor but its awesome to see you're so passionate. can't wait to see what v2 and standard have in store for us next :)
embarrassed that I fell asleep during the questions so I'll ask them here 😅 1. What order do you tighten everything I've been doing liner, laces, then buckle 2. How do you specifically tighten the elastic band in the omni do you press and pull or pull then press? 3. This is relevant to 2. And why I ask that which may seem rhetorical but I get heel lift inside of the liner itself. The liner doesn't move but my foots' heel will lift inside the liner itself. I've done the lock lacing method at the last two eyelets on the Omni and have been tying them insanely tight but still get the heel lift inside the liner itself. With that being said just wanted to say that I really have found my official end game boot and could not be happier with the purchase. When I first started blading again back in September I was using the USD Sway 57's and they were literally crushing my ankles it felt like, after a few months and some stripped bolts on them I had to get a new pair and got the Razor Cult Coppers V1 with the Ground Control Featherlite 3 frames. They were near perfect expcept for a few big things for me personally that being: 1. They require modification for a lot of different wheel usage, I couldn't use my Compass 85mm wheels with the Compass 85mm Frame 2. The SoulPlate Felt insanely small to me and just rough to grind on, as a beginner trying to learn my grinds and lace them out and even just practice with one foot gliding across this felt like it was just getting stuck even though it was brand new from Marketplace. 3. Couldn't even use Oysi Frames with the preferred wheels it came with. The Cults are great skates don't get me wrong but they just didn't feel like they were a great skate for me. However that changed when I got the Omnis, I was really anxious but when they slid right on the smile on my face couldn't be contained, they're seriously such an impressive work of engineering and art they're amazing. (I could gush about them all day and in fact I'm still trying to get clips but family and work come first lol) Even after heat molding them they still fit just fine, I've even gone with the two shock absorbers because the support is unmatched. Each skate I had prior was constantly giving me pain on concrete but with these it almost feels like I'm wearing compression socks, they're snug and tight but in the best way possible. Well done my dude, seriously, well fricking done.
I wasn't the biggest fan of the included shock absorbers, but had the large MyFit gel heel pads sitting on my shelf. They fit absolutely perfectly in the heel of my large omnis. I love these shock absorbers, and it is amazing how well they fit. Just perfect in these skates. I'm also using the RL2 liner in my omnis
I didn't even know these skates could be heat molded. I was about to drop money on some intuition liners, glad I was able to find the instructions. Thanks Law!
Can anyone compare these to a Fifth Element? I worry about the "big toe box". I want these boots but the Fifth Element just has way too much width AND height in the toe.
Probably quite a big ask but if the timestamps were more detailed in the future, I'd find it really helpful since then I could scroll to the bits I'm interested in ❤️ love how u talk abt and explain things Also hope ur able to rest as much as u can over the next few weeks! And appreciate how you talked through all the COVID stuff, it's so important
Great job Law! The only thing I would change is the flaps on the cuff. I fit the S skates great so far. If I skate with intuition liners though I would need the XS shell. So I'll be waiting for that size! Paypal ready! 😄
I must say this is the best fitting shell for me EVER. (277, Large) Selling all of my other skates (mostly 909s) to have an Omni only collection. Please make a clear/grey and gold/silver shell.
I had the laces on the liner tear as soon as I tried to tighten them up, they basically just ripped apart. Am currently heat molding the boot due to the inner ankle pain, otherwise they seem to feel nice to roll around in, will be interesting to see how they go at the skatepark.
@BacktoBlading Hey, I have a question for you. In one of the early podcasts where you mentioned starting a skate project, I recall you beginning the story by discussing how you initially planned to modify an existing mold after talking to the factory. However, your requirements for modifications were too complex to edit, so you ended up opting for a new mold instead. My question is, which specific mold were you considering editing or changing as a starting point?
I just got my standards and the right boot doesn't have the black stripe lol, Im also having a bit of toe issue from trying to downsize to the medium shell and hoping heat molding the shell could help
i think it is important to mention wich scale you mean by heatmolding the skate Fahrenhein > Celsius, before you get some bad response from custumers XD, Thank you Law, for the detailed look inside, it helps me alot to setup my new Omni ;) much LOVE
recently bought 5050 merch to rep your company on my skate vids. thinking about replacing my razors gen w your new skate if i like the way the midsoul bs plate behaves. you really have thought about a lot of aspects and i like the culture of your companies.
Great Gear talk. I wonder how Long people been riding the Omni before reporting pressure Points. I found that every skate needs an extended amount of time to break in. One question will there be an Omni in RAL 6005 colour?
Just a single data point, but I couldn't ride mine for more than 10 minutes without the ankle pain being too much to stand. I've had to break in skates before but none of them have been as stiff and painful as these are. I can usually fold up a sock and stick it over my ankle bone but these were so painful that my usual tricks didn't work at all. I've now heat molded the liners and boots 3 times each, hopefully they're tolerable today, if not I'll just assume they're not for me and see if I can sell them 🤷
Hey, Lawrence, could you help me pick the right size for your Omni skates? I just need a shell and am wondering what size to choose. My mondo is 28,2 cm and I want to put an Intuition liner in size 42-43 EU (27,5 - 28 cm or 9,5 - 10US). My question is: should I choose a Large shell or choose a Medium. Thank you very much for the answer.
Law is it possible too know the duromiter on shells like we do with wheels ... I know this is done with ski boots . Curious if thats something the factory can tell you or if its something harder to do and that is why we do not see it
I'd love a matt grey like the 909 colours. I think you should keep all the colours basic and matt. If you start doing crazy unique designs theyre not gonna sell as much
I was wondering the same, i did some research and allegedly if you dont use the stock frame bolts you might crack your frames, since the oysi bolts have a wider head to spread the pressure Idk if its true or just an exageration
@@ronny12301 mine seem to being doin ok and I always used different frame bolts depending on what I had available in my pile at the time lol. Skating the oysi medium on the omni now n its been great.
three people at last night's session with your skates.. one was good and the other two talked about the heel being too tight and they were both on intuition liners.
Do you have any plans to cover single sizes? This is my dream skate in a few important ways but I promised myself I would only buy skates that are my actual shoe size from now on. Even if it technically works with a bigger boot, it just doesn’t feel the same to skate with something that’s bigger than it needs to be on the foot. I hope you understand where I’m coming from. It’s not a critique of the products and I get the industry is struggling forward.
@@BacktoBlading "i think single sizes is a myth" appreciate your knowledge and insider eperience, but this feels like a wild statement to me. why do i have more options for sizing when i buy quads? because single sizes is a myth?
I said it from the start, gonna say it again.... use cuff bolts, not rivets. Especially now that one of the main feedbacks is that the omni cuff is way too stiff and low. Which could be remedied by experimenting with softer cuffs, like how the Razors cuff can fit on a 909 and vice versa. It would also be nice to mix and match the cuff and shell colors too. You said you used rivets cause you hate losing cuff bolts during a session. But in all your skate reviews, you never once mentioned that happening to you. I've heard it happening a lot on 909s, but I never once had that issue on any other skate. So, it seems like a shaky reason to eliminate it entirely, just cause a handful of people are too lazy to tighten their bolts.
Nothing pisses me off more thn looking for my 909 cuff bolt cause it popped out during a session. Only other option is tighten the cuff bolts on the 909 as tight as I can thn the bolt is digging into my liners. It's a lose lose situation. I enjoyed my 909s, but this issue is a pain. Also drilling out the cuffs is super easy if it bothers you that much.
Me too! I’m a UK12/US13/EU47. Roces do the M12 in my size but they’re so narrow & so long, that they just look awful 😞 I’d love to try the Standard Omnis.
I’d suggest DO NOT put them in the oven. I followed the instructions on this video and my cuffs have melted oh and they are not available!! Still waiting to hear what to do with them!!
