I like a lot of people are glad to see you back, your videos have a terrific feel to them. You mentioned that you were back to your old filter so I thought I'd pass on that I just saw that Canadian Tire had the Katadyn Ultra Flow Micro Filter Cartridge on clerance for 28 dollars.
Really enjoying the series, it's great to see you back on RU-vid. I can't wait to get back out there myself although I have only canoed Quetico so far, sadly it will be next season for me. It's a much bigger commitment living in the UK!
Nice to see a compact set of gear for canoe tripping, rather than some of the "burdens" some folks insist on -- and that you've got Lucy's needs covered, literally, with that little tarp.
Thanks, I'm still working on perfecting that little tarp and lightening my load. I'll let you know how it all works out in some future videos. Thanks for tuning in, I appreciate your support.
Great videos, glad to see you're posting again. You mention adding some loops/stuff to your pack, and that you can bring it in to somebody. Do you have a recommendation for places that do repairs/alterations on gear? I believe we're generally in the same area. Thanks!
Thanks, glad to hear you're enjoying them! In the end I've done all my gear modifications myself. I didn't end up doing too much with extra loops after all as I like to keep as much as I can inside the pack. Also, I now bring less gear so I don't have the need like I did before.
Troy. What camera are you using to shoot with? I remember in previous videos you were talking about getting a new perhaps waterproof camera. Just wondered if you ever did.
I've been trying to come up with a way to shield my dog from sun and rain when we canoe; did you ever try stretching it across the boat and tying it on both sides?
That knife is a bit of a mishmash. The leather sheath was made for my Bark River Bravo 1, the blade is a from a full tang blank Fallniven F1 and the handle I made myself using a Micarta technique. Tou can see the build process here goo.gl/43AlR1. Lately I've been carrying a Mora Companion, cheap and extremely functional. I'll post a video of it later about that one. Thanks for watching my friend.
Thanks for the video suggestion. The cord I use is a 3mm nylon static cord from MEC (Mountain Equipment Co-op) in Canada. It's reflective and really sturdy cord that I use for a lot of stuff. Hasn't failed me yet. I use the grey but here's a link to the same stuff in blue goo.gl/dUyhU7
The canoe I'm currently using is the Souris River 16' Kevlar Prospector. Great boat that comes in at under 44lbs. A 16' boat isn't built for solo but if you paddle it backwards it gets you more centered and does the trick. It also allows for more room for my dog, extra stability and saves me having to buy/store a boat for two and a solo boat.
