I never understood why Niles betrayed Kait and Del. I get he tricked Kate into waking their queen, but to what avail? What would he gain from this?

Niles went bat shit crazy at New Hope when he started experimenting on children. So I'd say him betraying Kait and Del shouldn't be a surprise.

He called the locust gods, obviously thought that the locust were superior to humans and probably developed a God complex himself thinking that they were to be his magnum opus. Niles experimented on humans with a lack of empathy and viewed them as mere animals so we are just donkeys while the locusts are horses in his eyes.

Kait wanted nothing to do with the swarm, so she forced Niles to sever her connection with it. In some Gears logic, it somehow awakened Kaits mother, who took the role of Queen to lead the swarm. Just like Myrrah did with the locust.

Gears 5 story lowkey sucked. But I like how they tied niles together.

I just wish they brought back Raam to become the main leader of the sawrm version of the Locust Horde and Kate should of just been barid and Sam daughter and JD should of been 30 years old and voiced by Steve Blum this whole new saga was just a waste of massive of protenial but 4 and 5 are still very fun.
