I’m SO glad you guys finally got to Patty Loveless!! She is amazing! Please please please check out her live performance of “You’ll never leave Harlan Alive”. Please also check out “How can I Help you Say Goodbye”, “Timber I’m Falling in Love”, “I’m that kind of girl” and my favorite of hers “Here I am”. LOVE HER!
"It's an old, old song" We just live in different worlds! I think that and I think back to the multitude of classics from the 1920's and 30's, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, ie songs that make up the Great American Songbook. You think "old, old" and her version comes from 2001. The original only dates to 1997. I just don't put the Spice Girls and Ethel Merman in the same camp😂.
She does a lot of duets with Vince Gill. The Go Rest High on that Mountain is probably the most famous song she, Vince Gill and Ricky Skaggs did together. Her voice blends so well with Vince Gill.
Vince and Patty harmonize amazingly! Vince said in an interview that Patty is his favorite person to sing with! Quite surprising considering he's married to Amy Grant and now a member of the Eagles! I believe they have about a dozen songs they have done together over the years!
And their friendship shines in the video of them singing "Go Rest High on that Mountain" at George Jones' funeral. Everyone needs a friend like Patty Loveless.
My favorite song of hers is "I try to think abut Elvis"! Country female artists that I think you'll like are Suzy Bogguss, Chely Wright, Teri Clark and Mindy McCready. My favorite Suzy Bogguss songs are "Aces" and "Letting Go". My favorite Chely Wright songs are "Single white female", and "Shut up and drive". My favorite songs by Teri Clark are "When boy meets girl" and "Poor, poor pitiful me". My favorite Mindy McCready songs are "Maybe he'll notice her now", "Ten Thousand Angels", and "A Girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do".
I'll second the request for Suzy Bogguss. She had many top hits in the 1990s. One of the best voices in country music at the time. I'll suggest the songs "Someday Soon", " Just Like the Weather" or "Hey Cinderella"
Last year she did this as a duet with Chris Stapleton at a charity concert (Kentucky Rising) for the floods in Easter KY. The live performance is on RU-vid. They also they did “You’ll never leave Harlan Alive”
Patty Loveless is so incredible!! Amber needs to get her Bluegrass fix and listen to Patty's live performance of You'll Never Leave Harlin Alive. It is spectacular!! She has a lot of great songs!! So happy you finally got to her!! Although you have heard her singing backup on Vince Gill's song.
Timber Im Falling In Love, Hurt Me Bad In A Real Good Way, Overtime, You Don't Seem To Miss Me, I Try To Think About Elvis, Blue Side Of Town, Here I Am, A Little Bit In Love With You, Mr Man In The Moon and the list could go on. Huge Patty Loveless fan here.
Patty is the female vocalist with Vince Gill on Go rest high on that mountain. She also is the back up on many of Vince Gill's where you just see a female in the background in the video. Everyone always wonders who the female back up is on a lot of Vince Gill's songs, it was Patty Loveless and she and Vince are dear friends.
"How can I help you say goodbye" Will rip your heart strings and make you CRY! GUARANTEED. Patty is an Multiple award winner in All Music royalty! ACM, GRAMMYS, ETC.
Patty Loveless is the cousin of Loretta Lynn and Crystal Gayle and her father was also a coal miner. She is an awesome singer and very underrated in my opinion. I would highly recommend reacting to Blame it on Your Heart. It's a honky tonk rocker that was written by Harlan Howard who co-wrote I Fall to Pieces for Patsy Cline. Two other stellar performances from Patty Loveless are Can't Stop Myself From Loving You and How Can I Help You Say Goodbye which was widely applauded by the mental health industry. Of course she has other great songs like Chains, Blue Side of Town, Nothing But the Wheel and You Can Feel Bad if it Makes You Feel Better.
Yes Yes YES!! Love Patty.... more please: Blame it on Your Heart, Chains, Timber I'm Falling in Love, her fabulous duet with Vince Gill - My Kinda Woman My Kinda Man, Hurt Me Bad, I Try to Think About Elvis, etc, etc.
The great Patty Loveless is now inducted into the country music Hall of Fame. It is well deserved. She has another classic called, You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive. I’m sure others will agree that it’s one her best. although, this one is my favorite, I must say.
Finally! Been dying for y'all to check out some Patty. I don't think I've ever seen a reaction where you haven't interrupted the song at least once to comment. That's a testament to Patty's storytelling...mesmerizing, right? Check out her duet with George Jones "You Don't Seem To Miss Me" sometime. By the way, Patty is Loretta Lynn's cousin.
Check out a late 90s country/bluegrass band called Nickel Creek (3 siblings) and their song “When you come back down” and then listen do their cover of “Shine” WITH Miss Dolly Parton ❤ ETA: This song is described as “a promise to your children” and you get Mandolin AND Fiddle! 🤗
I think I remember you guys wondering who was singing harmony with Vince Gill on When I Call Your Name. That beautiful voice was Patty Loveless, who -- besides being a hit maker on her own -- was long considered the best duet partner and backup singer in Nashville.
💖 Through her paternal line Patty is a distant cousin to sisters Loretta Lynn and Crystal Gale. She also grew up in Butcher Holler Kentucky, a daughter of a coal miner who married as a teen, divorced 10 years later and then became a singer. The women there could sing and tell a story!😍
Right, "Blame It On Your Heart" is the one you should have started with in terms of Patty Loveless; but also "Chains' and 'Timber I'm Falling" are both good too.
Patty is not my only favorite female country singer, she's my favorite female singer, maybe just singer, male or female. In my view, her voice and delivery cuts to the bone of any song.
Patty is one of the best singers in the last 30 years :) Check out Patty's duets with Vince Gill 'Pockets of Gold', with Ralph Stanley 'Little Maggie' & with Ricky Van Shelton! An all of Patty's solo hits; 'Thinking About Elvis'??
LOVE Patty Loveless so much. I always loved this song because the failed relationship was basically on both of them. Once you lose communication it's over. You might remember Patty for her back up singing with Vince Gill on "Go Rest High on that Mountain" and "When I Call Your Name".
Probably her biggest hit is Chains. I LOVE HER MUSIC. She has a beautiful voice. I popped a lot of tops back in the day listening to her on the jukebox. 🎶🎵❤️
Been dying for you to listen to more Patty Loveless. I think you did one before, but Patty is a deep well. Such a beautiful rich voice. She can break your heart... one of the most beautiful and heart wrenching songs by her is “How Can I Help You Say Goodbye”. Her duets with Vince Gill......amazing!!!! And she has duets with almost everyone, George Jones, George Strait, Ricky Skaggs, Ricky Van Shelton, Dwight Yokum even Bob Seger! You should check out her and Chris Stapleton!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Alison Kraus is so appreciated by ppl that know her....but overall underappreciated by the greater music fans. Not only is her voice AMAZING, but her talent in multiple instruments...incredible. She doesn't try to bring attention to herself...very humble....which might be part of the reason a lot of ppl dob't know her an her talent.
She grew up in a Kentucky town called Butcher Hollow. She's not only cousin to Crystal Gale and Loretta Lynn, she's a coal miner's daughter. She married as a teen and divorced 10 years later!
Love Patty. My favorite of hers is "How Can I Help You to Say Goodbye". She did a great duet with Chris Stapleton "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive" (I prefer the CMA performance). You really can't go wrong with any of her songs.
You would absolutely love her song You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive. It's got a bluegrass feel to it. Make sure you watch the video of her doing it live though, it's amazing!
Oh, I'm sooo glad you listened! She is unbelievably underrated. Her early stuff if wonderful and I encourage you to check out the list below for some highlights. But her bluegrass albums are really where it's at. You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive, Diamond in My Crown, Pretty Little Miss... everything from her albums Mountain Soul 1 and 2 are brilliant and really get at the best of her talent. Here I am You Can Feel Bad Lonely Too Long That's the Kind of Mood I'm In Hurt Me Bad In A Real Good Way Blame it on Your Heart I'm That Kind of Girl
Patty is great!!!!!! She does many duets and harmonies with Vince Gill. One of my many favorite female artist of the 80s and 90s country. Great choice!! You Don't Seem to Miss Me is another great song by her. Chains Chains another great one.
Patty Loveless is a treasure. Some others to listen to from the same album are Halfway Down, and When Fallen Angels Fly. I Try to Think About Elvis is good, too. Lastly, at George Jones's funeral, she sang a duet with Vince Gill and had to step in a few times and take lead when Vince was overcome with emotion. 😢
About a year ago, y'all did " When I Call Your Name" by Vince Gill. Patty Lovelace is the female background singer on that song. Her & Ricky Skaggs also sang with Vince on " Go Rest High On That Mountain".
Patty can SANG yall!!! Patty has a Soul wrenching song in "How can i Help You Say Goodbye". Another great female singer Sara Evans You 2 will really love "You'll always be My Baby", anyone with a daughter, this one touches ."Born to Fly" "No Place That Far" has Vince Gill as the backup vocalist.
Patty Loveless is a great singer. She sang backing vocals for several singers, Vince Gill being the most often. She had a very successful solo career. My favorite song (other than this one ) is "Lonely Too Long". Other hits were " Timber, I'm Falling In Love". " Chains" and "You Can Feel Bad".
Wow! Patti had you mesmerized!! You didn’t even pause midway!! She also has done a lot of duets (everyone wanted to sing with her) George Jones, Vince Gill, Dwight Yoakum to name a few. Worth checking
Patty Loveless has the ability to rip your heart out with those vocals. "How Can I Help You Say To Say Goodbye", "Nothing But The Wheel".....she is so, so good
I love this song for the emptiness it conveys. Two people who have drifted so far apart that they can't even muster any anger. They have each become (as another song put it), just somebody that I used to know. I've been a fan of Patty for about 3 decades and a bunch of her stuff lives on my MP3 player -- my first recommendation would be You Don't Seem to Miss Me -- another sad one as you might guess from the title. :-)
She's got one of the most beautiful voices. So many great female country artists. Some of my favorites; Trisha Yearwood, Lori Morgan, Martina McBride to name just a few. So glad you both liked this one!
Last time I checked... You still have not done any music by country music LEGEND Tammy Wynette... You don't just listen to Tammy... You EXPERIENCE Tammy.... Iconic southern twang... Her biggest hit was probaly "Stand by Your Man"... She was even part of a trio of country legends, the "Honky Tonk Angels" in the mid '90s... Consisted of Tammy, Dolly, and Loretta... Their song was called "Silver Threads and Golden Needles" Tammy was also once Married to Country Icon George Jones, and often did duets with him... Even after they divorced... Try their "Golden Ring".... Tammy left us a HUGE library to enjoy...
Thank you for doing Patty, she is my all time favorite female country vocalist. Saw her several times in concert and she killed it. Listen to you’ll never leave Harlan alive please
One of the best female country artists ( although not just a country singer ) is Nanci Griffith. Well worth a listen My personal favourite is her rendition of - Once in a Very Blue Moon. Not as well known as some of her songs but it is sublime
