Yeah yeah yeah, I know I suck. After about an hour on the struggle bus I decided to take the engine apart this way. It took me about 30 minutes to break it down this far and get the sensor out. 10/10 would do it this way again.
Drill a small hole in the stuck sensor with a 1/8” bit about 1/4”and use a 2” drywall screw then use a claw hammer to pull it,super easy, you went way over board. The water pump can stay put.
Thanks for the video. Have a stuck sensor also and hoping I don't have to tear things down and further, but if I do it's good to see one way of doing it
Same truck, I had timing cover off and sensor barely drove out with hammer! Some are worst than others. Best bet is to replace timing cover and sensor, keep your sanity.
I was chasing a gremlin on my daily, and was already over budget, so I was eying to do it on the cheap. Funny enough I ended up having to replace the timing cover in the end anyway, as that was the problem.
I have a motor apart and Im just washing the front cover where the angle sensor is ... It will not come out .. The Plastic must Swell inside the engine ? I pitty anyone who has to change one .. Mine is working so I am tempted to just silicone it in (around the 2mn I can get it out) BUT I might just buy a new one and destroy this one, because I pitty the next person when or if it fails. This Australian R8 09 model ute will be For sale when engine is rebuilt. So I should save my $$'s .. but I feel for the next owner .. Now I see the trouble it takes to change .. Guess thats why I'm not a rich man ... Nice vid 👍
