Some of them got it. It's clear they didn't have metal heads react to it. Seems like a lot of pop or r&b/hip hop fans. "I listen to Taylor swift". They also had pretty much no context.
"I'm okay with metal, but heavy metal is, like, too much for me." Dude, heavy metal is the softest and most accessible genre variation of metal there is. If you can't get into that, you can't get into any metal.
Facts. Prog might be too slow, but heavy/nu is “pop”-y enough to be accessible to all. Wait til these kids discover death, black, extreme, thrash, speed
Agreed. The pure emotion they put into the songs and especially after a show when the remember the members who have passed away. They have a history and chemistry like no other.
The incredible vocal range and immense vocal control! sad that they only cared about the masks- the drumline was also not appreciated at all in any of the songs
I'm 14 myself and I listen to Slipknote all the time and Gen Z simply has no taste for music and the way they make fun of the masks is just how they recognize it
Yeah, the one kid said it just sounds like screaming…not knowing that it’s one of the most difficult singing styles to pull off. Takes voice lessons and LOTS and LOTS of practice.
I’m glad you aren’t classed as one of these mate. I look at these kids and what they class so called music as compared to this and it makes me cringe. Glad you’re a maggot, keep at it dude
The only problem I have is that the dude in the white shirt is killing the vibe everybody else is trying to find the good and be into it he’s just complaining the whole time
@@punklover99 I feel the same way. I've been in so many circle pits... Probably why my back is about to be fused from shoulder blades down to my tailbone come this August 19th.
@@petesmart1983well obviously there is way harder stuff out there and crazier metal. But that's why there's different genre's and levels to this stuff. I loved Slipknot and still do, think what ya want haha
I know. As a Pop listener, mostly 2:02, I like mixing other genres like Rap Rock (this is how I would define Limp Bizkit's music), Euro music (Europop, Eurodance) and Metal doesn't seem bad after watching several videos of Metal concerts..
I am 15 and have been listening to hard rock and metal ever since I was 8 and seeing colleagues say a bunch of BS like it just being screaming and satanic really makes my blood boil. I feel your pain
I remember when Lucas didn't exactly agree with an LGBTQ video a few years back (granted as a kid) but as your saying he flipped. That could also be to do with him not realising if he still hasn't yet that it's very likely he's apart of that community.
When I was younger, the older people would say, "You're music is too loud!", now that I'm the old guy my complaint to the younger generation is "You're music is too soft!".
@@alextheukrainianguy limp bizkit has a few good songs, slipknot is just a more musically inclined band. As far as talent and skill goes slipknot is by far the better band.
All of the slipknot musics are heavier and darker in nu-metal area. they should've know that corey taylor, the frontman, has a side project grunge band called stone sour. and yeah... this video aged like expired milk 😅
Man I love Slipknot. Sucks that most of them don't like them. They just hear screaming, see the masks and think they're scary and shit. Look up the lyrics, watch some interviews, educate yourself. My daughter is 4 and loves Slipknot but also loves Rihanna and pop top 10 stuff. Some of these kids seem super closed minded.
I don't want to say it's a genre thing either. Musicians pre 2005 had substance to their music. The lyrics meant something, the instruments, vocals, everything tied together to tell a story. And you could feel the emotions the writer was trying to portray. Every band/musician these days has no talent. A producer has found an algorithm of sounds that can produce quick popularity and money and put the same song out there 1000x just to make a quick buck. Noone cares about making genuinely good music any more and it's sad.
The singing is not their Cup of tea and I can respect that. The reason I hate the 'It's just screaming' phrase is because there's a whole band playing their hearts out behind the singer.
@StetcynBrown Apparently not. When you’re under 10, you’re forgiven for being scared of monsters and Halloween stuff. By the time you’re 15, it’s pathetic.
I’m 14 and I listen to slipknot! But fr these teens annoyed me too. ESPECIALLY TEENS AT MY SCHOOL WHO SAY SLIPKNOT IS BAD. HOW!? I QUESTION THIS GENERATION SO MUCH.
@@Grace_TheMelaine_Fanof course they're bad. They're so non-mainstream. Exactly that makes them great. Plus they really don't care if people like them or not. 😁
He didn't eat an arm. He bit off his fingers because his best friend passed away and couldn't play guitar ever again. That entire video was symbolic of grief.
I’m 16 and I literally grew up on heavy metal and rock. When I was 5 my whole family dressed up as Slipknot and I was Corey Taylor. These kids need to be more open to this music😂
Bruh Heavy metal is just a genre for a pick of people. Not all of us like it. Especially modern metal and rock. All of it. Straight up garbage Edit: not classic rock tho
@@Zwellop Lol right? I feel like there's a big split between genuinely nice metalheads and then "edgy" metalheads. Then again, that can go for any genre.
@@lierx8694 Corey Taylors vocals are a partial unclean vocal. Somewhere between yelling and screaming. It works really well for what they do and they are definitely metal but you can't really expect stuff that was actually put into mainstream movies and played on the radio to be an example of how heavy metal gets. Don't get me wrong I love slipknot I'm just saying.
@@lierx8694 that's naturally what happens when you compare nu metal to death metal and stuff, nu metal isn't a particularly heavy genre. I will say that slipknot is pretty heavy for nu metal though
They didn’t even try with this one. They chose the worst group for this. All probably like the same type of music. Not a smidge of variety in interest music wise.
@@PamelaKinney-lq1lythese kids literally insulted the whole genre of metal and the people who listen to it, wtf are you talking about.🤦♂️obviously people are going to be upset in the comments and he judgemental and accuse them of unnecessary things, Use your head.
As a slipknot fan you'd think Id be mad but I actually find this hilarious. They should have these same kids react to Lorna Shore or infant annihilator next
@@philstaab7420 yes. Blasphemian or To the Hellfire so that we can see the curly haired kid physically die at the end of the song when the vocalist does the pig squeals and gurgling inhales.
As a 2001 baby (Gen Z), I adore this type of music. Heavy metal, black metal, deathcore, symphonic heavy metal, etc etc etc is my primary go to genre. Slipknot is a great band, but they’re, imo, too soft. That’s just me tho.
as someone from gen z ('04), i feel ashamed that they chose these kids specifically. i feel like they aren't able to appreciate the music for what it is. sure, when i was young i didn't like metal of any subgenre, but more recently have i come to actually like it. i love the pure noise that metal holds, but even slipknot's non-title tracks like snuff are amazingly made. it really sucks seeing these kids not be more open-minded about music. slipknot has been going on for over 20 years for damn good reason.
it's really sad that they can't be a bit more objective or at least try to understand :( only one of the kids tried to listen to the lyrics and appreciate them even if they're not his taste...
