How I repaired my Generac generator recoil Starter: In August, a tornado came through our town that left us without power for 3 days. When I went to start up our generator to power the essentials the pull cord suddenly went slack. No resistance whatsoever. On removing the recoil starter assembly, I found the section holding the recoil spring and pull cord had sheered off from its housing. The only repair option was to replace it. I'll take you through what I did to get it running, regain a piece of mind, and avoid buying a new generator.
