Moved to FL a few months ago and bought a house that had been a rental for 17 years and vacant the last 6 months. The ghost ants are formidable! I bought the two treatments and have been applying them daily. It’s been three weeks and they are just now dying down. I hope the queens are eradicated in the next week. I’m going to treat my yard today in hopes of keeping any new ants coming in. Thanks for such great videos! I was feeling defeated until I found your videos and hope was restored!

Thank you so much for those kind words. Very much appreciated. Please give the baits no more than another week to work. If the ants are not gone by then, I can tell you how to go nuclear on them. Don't worry. What I do is not harmful to you, your kids, or your pets. Baiting is always the preferred way to approach ants, but it doesn't always work, or it just takes way too long. So, please get back to me in a week if you still see these things. Also, let me know if you are seeing them in the bathtub or shower. Treating the yard is a very good idea here in Florida. I hope that you watched my video on how to do it correctly. Also, the method I explain in my video can be used on the exterior of your house as well, using the same product. You are not supposed to do it because it is not consistent with label directions, but I can tell you that it will not hurt you or the environment. Since it technically does not comply with the label, I cannot recommend it, but I do know of at least one retired pest controller that does it every 60 days. This is important to do in Florida every 60 days to prevent drywood termites. These guys literally fly to your house and enter around windows, doors, through the eves, and so forth. Please watch my video on how to prevent drywood termites and my video on how to treat your yard. My way of doing it is very fast and easy to do. In the termite video I tell you to use a tank sprayer and different pesticides, but you can just use the hose end sprayer and the Bifen XTS for everything. The Bifen XTS seems expensive to buy, but it dilutes at 1/3 oz per gallon, so it goes a long way. Also, in the termite video I say to do it every 90 days, but here in Florida, you would be wise to do it every 60 days. That's what I do. This will also prevent every other kind of pest imaginable from entering your home, including ants, most species of roaches, spiders, and all sorts of other pests. I hope that helps. I have tracked these little buggers trailing up the wall and around the ceiling joints to get to the other side of the room! This is strange behavior, but knowing this helps me know where to bait. If you see a few walking up your wall or up your door moulding, check your ceiling joints to see if they’re going up and over.

Good point. Please get back to me if you don't have these things gone in a couple of weeks. We always like to bait first, but it doesn't always work. Most of the time it works great, but every now and then one or more queens don't eat the bait. So, if the problem persists, then I can show you how to go nuclear on them. It's safe to do, but more expensive and time consuming. That's why we try baiting first. Still, if your wife is anything like mine, she wants these things gone now, and she doesn't care about how much it is going to cost. Be well my friend.

Thanks for watching. Please remember that the Talstar P is only for use where you do not want the ants. That is to say, if they are getting into your food or are on a countertop or something like that, then you can use the Talstar P to keep them off because it is a repellent. The ants will not cross it. However, the Talstar P will not ger rid of the infestation. You need to bait to do that, so do not apply the Talstar P in areas that you are baiting or they will not eat the bait. Be well my friend.

Great video. Very helpful. Funny story. I saw one ghost ant a few months ago in the master bath. One. Put out a Terro ant bait tray in the area I saw the first. Not another ant for months. And I looked. Then today, I noticed a trail running from under a baseboard near an exterior wall, all the way across the floor (about 7’) up the cabinet, right to that old liquid bait! Had to be 20 or so ants exposed going back and forth. So I opened up a couple fresh baits and put one next to the old one, and one next to their entry point on the floor. I also just ordered the Advion for delivery tomorrow. Hopefully now that I have the sugar highway going they will all kick the bucket soon. I’m tiptoeing over the trail not to disturb the poison train!
@GuysPestSolutions
@GuysPestSolutions 2 года назад
That is very smart. Most folks want these things gone immediately, but that is a mistake. The best thing you can do is be patient and keep baiting them. The only time I use a pesticide on these things is if they are getting into food or crawling on counter tops or anything like that. Then I use a repellent to keep them away from those areas. Other than that, baiting is definitely the way to go. So, you have it exactly right. Thanks for the comment. Be well my friend.

@@GuysPestSolutions Thanks for the reply. Interesting update. Went to bed last night and they were still moving along. But this morning there wasn't a single one on the "highway" they created. The bait traps had one inside but not a single ant elsewhere. Then I looked at the floorboard where there access point was, and the bait I also put next to it, and the smart little buggers abandoned the "trail" and were focusing on the nearby bait! So at that point I cleaned the trail up to about a foot from the bait/floorboard area with ammonia based cleaner (not getting any close to the activity) to break the trail and keep them down on the floor by the bait. Seems to be working! Thanks again!
@GuysPestSolutions
@GuysPestSolutions 2 года назад
@@mchad8876 You know, I have been doing this stuff for a long time now and what I have discovered is that most insects are somewhat lazy. They tend not to work any harder than they have to. There are exceptions of course, but most of the time, they will go for the food that is closest and easiest for them to access. So, if you place your bait where the ants are coming in, then they are very likely to work on that bait first. It doesn't always work that way, but most of the time that is what I see. Be well my friend.

I've used Advion and have had great success with it. Also crack and crecice treatment with non repellent pesticides can help as well. I noticed they were nesting in wall voids also through openings and gaps from outside. Other tenants mentioned having ants as well. I had to battle them at various times over 4 years. I used phantom around the front door area and cy-kick cs in the back porch area. I found the sweet baits worked and the protein baits were never touched.
@GuysPestSolutions
@GuysPestSolutions 2 года назад
You did the right thing. Ants usually like the sweet bait. Not always though. Sometimes the queens will only eat protein and so you will kill a lot of workers, but not the queen and you may not notice that they just took a little of the protein bait. I agree that, most of the time, they do just go for the sweet bait. I always give them a choice because I always want to accommodate any food preferences they may have. I mean, it's the least I can do for the little gals. I run a full-service restaurant. Lol. Thanks for the comment. Be well my friend.

@GuysPestSolutions
@GuysPestSolutions Год назад
Keep in mind that all ants like food. Be sure to clean the inside of the car really well and establish a firm rule that there will never be eating in the car ever. Most people get ants in the car because they go to a fast-food place and eat in the car. Crumbs fall on the floor and there is your food source. It's really bad if you have kids. They are not always neat when they eat and will even leave wrappers on the floor. I have had this rule for my car for years now. Nobody likes it, but I don't have ants either. Here in Florida, it is a very common problem. Also, I suggest that you treat the outside of your home every three months with Bifen IT. I have a video on how to do that. Ants have to get in from somewhere and that somewhere is outside. So, if you treat the outside, that will stop new ones from getting in. In my video I suggest using Taurus SC or Talstar P. Bifen IT is the same thing as Talstar P, but cheaper. Also, the sprayers in the video are no longer available. I will give you a link to a sprayer that will serve you well for many years. I hope that helps. Be well my friend. finally, someone who understands ghost ants!! i have been wondering why these ants are like all over the place! they don't really have a trail, and i see them in random spots on the wall 😭 why are they like this? Terro doesn't really work on them, and they have been invading a lot lately. :(
@GuysPestSolutions
@GuysPestSolutions Год назад
I honestly do not know why ghost ants behave the way they do, but I can tell you that they can have multiple queens and there can be colonies both inside and outside the house. If you find the baits are not working on them, then there is a nuclear option. Unfortunately, this is not cheap to do, but it is almost 100% effective. I have literally never seen it fail. This is basically a two-step process. The first step is to treat the outside. Please watch my video on how to treat your yard with a hose end sprayer. You should treat your entire yard, but if you have a really huge yard, then you can simply treat a 30-foot perimeter around the entire house. After you have finished treating the outside, then what you need to do is lightly spray all the ant trails and places where you suspect they are coming in, with Temprid FX. Just mix it 16 milliliters to a gallon of water, in a one gallon pump up garden sprayer. Do not over pressurize the sprayer, because you just want a fine mist coming out of it. Each sprayer is different, but generally you only need to pump it two or three times. You can apply the Temprid FX any place you are seeing the ants, except where you are preparing food or eating it. Do not apply it any place where you are not seeing the ants. You only need to do the inside treatment one time, as long as you keep up with the outside treatment, which needs to be done every 60 to 90 days during warm weather months. You do not want to do it when it's freezing outside. Start doing it in the spring every year when the weather is no longer freezing and stop doing it in the fall or early winter when the weather gets really cold again. It is always a good idea to get a last treatment in just before you get your first freeze. This way, you know that you are protected over the winter. I will give you a link to the Temprid FX. All the equipment and the product that you need to do the exterior treatment is listed in the description of the video. If all of this is a little too much for you, then you can try modifying it. You can sometimes get results by simply using the Temprid FX inside. Doing it this way will take a bit longer though, because the ants will keep coming in until the colony is killed off. It is also possible that this treatment alone will not get it done, which is why I also kill the ants outside. If the inside treatment alone does not work, but you do not want to treat your entire yard, then you can treat just the perimeter of your house with the hose end sprayer. Just treat up the side of the building about 36 inches, and out from the building about 48 inches. Soak the area really well where the foundation meets the ground. This will kill the ants outside while they are trying to make their way into the house. There is a fairly high probability that combining one interior treatment and the perimeter treatment every 60 to 90 days will solve the problem. Keep in mind though that you still have a gazillion ants that are colonizing in the yard. So, if all else fails, then you need to go ahead and treat the yard. I can tell you, that is what I do. I live in Florida, and we have a lot of ants here. So, in my case, I need to go all out nuclear on them and treat the yard. You may be able to do it though without treating the entire yard, and it may be worth the try. I hope that helps. Be well my friend. I think the issue with Terro is it kills too fast so there isn't chance for all the queens to take the poison communion. Diluting it with water is supposed to help, but Advion gel costs the same so better to just start with that.
@GuysPestSolutions
@GuysPestSolutions 11 месяцев назад
@@ShakaCthulu I believe the active ingredient in the Terro ant bait is a borate. This would not be a fast kill, and the ants would have enough time to bring it back to the colony and share with the other ants, but it is not exactly a poison. This bait works by using a mechanical action. It cuts holes in the ant's stomach and they dehydrate to death. The professional baits use a pesticide that works on the ants nervous system, so they kill differently. In my opinion, I think the professional bait is going to work better. It sounds like you're having that same experience. Still, some people swear by the Terro ant bait, so if it works for them, then they may as well stick with it. However, I agree that the Advion gel bait works better. Be well my friend.

Thank you for this. We've had some ant issues for a handful of years now, mainly the black ants and have been able to get rid of them pretty easily. Then, the tiny (what we now know as ghost ants) appeared on and in a jar of fermenting kefir that we had on the counter. Unfortunately, at the time we had cheese cloth on it, so there were tiny holes big enough for them to get in to. Ever since that point they've popped up here and there, including now (Aug/Sept. '23). Of course, I would be happy to help you with that. The first thing you need to know about ants is that most of the time they live outside. There are couple of species that will take up residence in your home, but for the most part, they are coming in from the outside. For that reason, you sometimes need to go after them where they live. We always try to treat them from the inside first with a bait, because it is cheaper and easier to do, but sometimes that does not work, and you need to go nuclear on them. @GuysPestSolutions
@GuysPestSolutions 4 года назад
Hi Seth. First, thank you so much for having faith in me. You did the right thing by treating your entire house the way I suggested in my exterior pest control video. I guess I should have mentioned in the video that, if you have carpenter ants, the treatment is exactly the same, except that you need to use the Taurus SC mixed at 0.8 oz per gallon. So, if you treated with the Talstar P, then I would recommend that you do the exact same treatment again with the Taurus SC. Carpenter ants can enter your home in a variety of ways, so it's vitally important that you make sure that you treat every possible access point. These ants are similar to termites in that they must return to the ground and cannot remain in your home indefinitely. That means, if you treat every crack and crevice on the exterior of your home the carpenter ants must cross it and then carry the pesticide back to the colony, where it will kill their entire family. I had a really bad infestation of carpenter ants when I moved in eight years ago and they were coming in just below the roof line under the eves. Sometimes though they can come in from the ground as well, through openings in your walls. So, you need to be thorough. Give a lot of attention to things that abut your home, such as a fence. If you have a fence that touches your wall, that needs to be treated where it contacts the wall. Top, sides, bottom. The same for any bushes or other plants that touch your house. Also, if you teat the way I suggest in the termite video, that too will help to get rid of carpenter ants. I would do both. Now, just one last thing that you should know. If you have a large infestation like I did, it can take several weeks for it to be totally eliminated. So be patient. If you have a bad infestation you may see dead bodies in the house. That's a good sign that you are getting this thing licked. My infestation took about 12 weeks before the carpenter ants were totally gone. If you treat every six months with Taurus SC and then treat every six months between the Taurus treatment with Talstar P, you won't have anymore problems with any sort of pest. This way you get a treatment every three months. Just alternate between the two products. Thanks for pointing out my mistake. I guess now I am going to have to do another video just on carpenter ants. I will do my best to get it done right after I finish with fire ants. Good luck and feel free to contact me with any other questions that you may have.

Thanks for your videos, I have rentals in Florida and in my primary residence there are tiny ants on my counters and sink (ghost ants I think) , I have always used Boric Acid or another powder with Diatomaceous for ants or roaches , but It has NOT worked on these tiny ants. Gonna buy some gel first through your links. I'll post how it goes.

Please do get back to me with the results. We always like to use baits first because they are inexpensive, safe, and usually take out the entire colony. However, the ants do not always get the memo about how this is supposed to work. When that happens, we need to go nuclear on them. Most of the time the baits work great, but if you don't get rid of the problem after a couple of weeks, then let me know and I will explain the nuclear option. This never fails, but it is much more expensive and time consuming to do. So, we always try the simplest thing first. I hope that helps. Be well my friend.

I have been told to never apply pesticide to countertop areas even if it’s the back splash. But as DIY you can, there is no one to stop you. I saw where you said drain flies can be knocked out by using pesticides spray in the drain. That’s not recommended cause your putting insecticide in the water supply. Pretty sure that’s not on a label as approved treatment. Sanitizer drain gel is safer or a low tech home remedy I learned is to put ice in the affected drain overnight for several days. The cold will kill them. Seen it work for a bathtub that had them cause it was not being used.

Applying pesticides to any food preparation area is not desirable. However, ants are not desirable either. Most folks, my wife included, are not going to tolerate ants roaming around where they prepare food for any length of time. In my wife's case, that means about an hour. Certainly not days. That's why I said in the video that you can apply a pesticide to the splash boards if you are one of those folks who need the ants gone right now. Otherwise, don't do it. I can tell you that pest controllers do it all the time and it is perfectly legal. That is because food is not prepared on the splash boards. The label only restricts application to surfaces where food is prepared. Since most folks do not prepare food on the splash boards, then it's fine. As for shooting Raid Ant and Roach Killer down the drains, all I can tell you is that it works overnight every time. I honestly don't think you are going to shoot enough of it down the drains to cause any harm at all to anything other than the drain flies. Still, I always encourage folks to do whatever works for them. If you have another method that you like and it's working for you, then you should certainly stick with it. For me though, I do not have the luxury of waiting days to kill off a drain fly infestation. I prefer overnight. Again though, I think you should definitely stick with whatever works for you. Thanks for the comment. Be well Elizabeth.

I have these guys (gals) coming in through small holes in two window sills. They are apparently somewhere in the walls, subfloor or attic. I can’t find them inside the home. Can I treat with the recommended product outside? Thanks!
@GuysPestSolutions
@GuysPestSolutions 3 года назад
For exterior treatment, I would treat with Taurus SC around the entire home. I have a video on how to do that and I will place a link below. You should do this treatment every three months. Start with the Taurus SC for the first treatment and then do the next treatment three months later with Talstar P. I alternate every three months between the two products. It is very common for ghost ants to build colonies inside the home and, of course, baiting for them inside is always the way to go. However, even though you can use baits outside, I prefer to just place a chemical barrier around the house if the ants are coming and going because they will have no choice but to pass through it and then take it back to the colony to share with the other ants. Of course, that's just me. It is perfectly fine to use these baits outside, but you do need to keep baiting every day. Ants like their bait fresh. I hope that helps. Hey, thank you for the upload, very informative. I seem to have a ghost ant infestation but it is only in my bathroom (which is connected to my bedroom). I don’t really see any ants in my bedroom, it really only seems to be the bathroom, do you know why this could be or what could be causing them to stay? It’s not like I have food in my bathroom but I still see them walking around my sink and countertop. (I compared them to pharaoh ants and other ants and they seem to be ghost ants).
@GuysPestSolutions
@GuysPestSolutions 2 года назад
First, please let me know where you live. Ghost ants are almost always found in Florida and Hawaii. I have also heard that they are starting to show up in Texas as well. If you do not live in one of these states, then you may have a different species of ant. Most ants go in the bathroom to find water and they will eat things that may surprise you. For example, they may find dead bugs, like a mosquito that flew in and died near a wall, or they can also feed on things like organic shampoo and body wash. They will eat dead skin cells and they can even be attracted to urine if your glucose levels are a bit out of wack. So, while it may seem like there is no food in your bathroom, the ants do not see it that way. If you live in Florida, do not overlook the possibility that these could be fire ants. We think of fire ants as being an outside pest, but I have found them inside bathrooms in cases where they had colonies under a slab home. Florida has a lot of slab homes. Like so many other ants, you can often find them in bathtubs and around sinks. If you can get a specimen that is not crushed, then have a look at it with a good magnifying glass. Ants are insects and have three body parts. A head, an abdomen, and a thorax. If the ant has two little humps between the abdomen and the thorax, you could be looking at a fire ant or a pharaoh ant. Fire ants are typically an orange color, but not always. Sometimes they do look a lot like pharaoh ants and can be easily confused. If you are correct and these are ghost ants, then baiting them is the way to go. However, if you are looking at fire ants or pharaoh ants, that can be a more difficult problem to solve. So, make sure of the exact species and let me know. I will do my best to guide you through the process. I hope that helps.

@@rmtgplayer You don't need to be too concerned with the species of ant that you have. The truth is that the Ghost ant treatment works for almost all species of ants. The only exceptions may be carpenter ants and fire ants. You don't have carpenter ants because your ants are tiny and carpenter ants are very large. While fire ants can invade your home, they are typically an outside ant. Most of the time the ants you see in your home can be treated the same way that I show you in the video. Just place tiny amounts of the bait where you are seeing the activity and take a look to see if they are eating it. If they are, then the colony should die out in a few days. Don't worry if it takes a bit longer because some colonies can be really large and it just takes a little longer for all the ants to get exposed to the poison. Also, make sure to use both a protein bait and a sweet bait. Most of the time they like the sweet bait the best, but sometimes the queen is fussy and will only eat the protein. If you don't kill the queen, then you don't kill the colony. Thanks for watching. Be well my friend.

It's true. Sometimes it can take a very long time to get rid of ghost ants. However, if these things are located in an area that is a bother, like in the kitchen or something, then you can bring out the big guns and speed up the process. The problem with ghost ants is that you oftentimes do not see ant trails. Therefore, it is difficult to know where they're coming from. If you do see ant trails, then you can spray those trails with a non-repellent pesticide, and I will give you a link to a good one. If you cannot find the ant trails, then you can spray the most likely places where they may be, such as on and under the baseboards. Just buy a cheap garden sprayer and mix up a gallon of the product, which will be way more than you need. This is not my first choice for treating ants, but sometimes the ants are not cooperative and did not get the memo about how they are supposed to act. Do not apply this product where food is being prepared. You don't want food touching it. Also, you only want to use it where you really think the ants are going to be. This product is safe for people and pets after it has dried. Always keep people out of the area while you are applying it and always wear rubber gloves and eye protection while you are using it. This product comes in pre-measured packets. Put 1/2 gallon of water in the sprayer and then add a packet of the pesticide. Then, and another 1/2 gallon of water. This is a water-dispersible granule formulation, so make sure that you shake it up really well and shake the sprayer periodically while you were applying it. Use very low pressure in the sprayer and allow it dry after you apply it. If you get it on something where you don't want it, then simply clean that area with soap and water. If you are seeing ants in your bathtub or shower, that is a different problem, and you should get back to me for more guidance. I hope that helps. Be well Shauna. Please watch my video on how to treat your yard with a hose end sprayer. Treating your entire yard with Bifen XTS should take care of most of the problems. If you find that you are still having a problem with ticks or fleas, then add an insect growth regulator. I treat my yard every 60 days, and that takes care of all the problems. Now, I'm going to give you a little tip, but you are not supposed to do this. Since I have the hose end sprayer in my hand, I just go ahead and treat the house with it as well. I cannot recommend that you do it too, because it is not consistent with label directions, but I can tell you that it is not harmful to you or the environment. However, you should always wear all your protective equipment. If you do it this way, and you do not need the tank sprayer. This is also way faster. I live in Seattle, and my DADU (detached accessory dwelling unit) in the back yard started to get sugar ants this Fall (tiny black ants) in the bathroom coming out of the shower fan and light in the ceiling, as well as around the shower pan that you stand on when you shower. There seems to be a colony in the ceiling or under the roof. When I pull the shower fan out there are many dead ants so I've put a number of Terro and Alvion ant baits in a space above the ceiling but in a month they come back with a vengeance. I've had an exterminator company come out several times to treat both inside and out and still in a month the ants come back. What can I do? The structure is on concrete pier blocks so there is a space between the floor joists and ground. Thank you for any help you can give me.

Just based on your description of the problem, it sounds like you are killing the ants inside the building, but you are getting reinfested all the time. To solve this problem, I recommend that you treat your yard, and the piers that are supporting the building every 60 days. This can easily be done with a hose end sprayer. I will give you a link to my video on how to do that. After you finish that treatment, then go ahead and treat the ants inside the building one more time. This time when you treat, change to a different bait, just to be sure that the ants didn't become resistant to the baits you already used. Domyown.com has a very good selection of baits. Any one of the gel baits that is labeled for ants should work well. The outside treatment is going to stop new ants from getting in, but if you have any problems getting rid of the ones already in the building, then let me know and I will tell you how to go nuclear on them. This would not be my first choice for dealing with them, but it will get it done. I hope that helps. Be well Susan. @@susanscott339 It's fine to treat the wood chips with the Bifen XTS. In fact, I treat everything on the property with it. I don't care if it's gravel, wood chips, ornamental plants, concrete, or whatever, I treat it. The only thing I would not do is to spray it directly on fruits and vegetables. That aside, I spare nothing. If you want, you can leave the wood chips in place and just make sure that you soak them really good with the Bifen XTS. The idea is that you want to get the pesticide down to the ground below the wood chips, because that is where the ants are. Putting a gravel edge round the building is fine. The only thing is about that, if you ever have to trench for subterranean termites, then you will need to remove the gravel, which is kind of a pain in the neck. I do have gravel around my entire house, but I apply termite granules around the house every year to prevent subterranean termites. It is always a good idea to spray all sides of all the piers that are under the building. This is quick and easy to do with the stream setting on the hose end sprayer. Please trust me when I tell you that you will do a better job than a professional, and you will do it for a lot less money. Be well Susan.

We found ghost ants in our kitchen today. It's crazy, because they were in our large Zero water filters we leave on the counter, about 2 feet away from the kitchen sink. They probably could have drank forever from the water around the sink... but no, they wanted the purified water!!! They were nowhere near the sink. They only wanted the water in the container. They're not looking for food either. I took apart every piece and handwashed them in hot water. Then I immediately dried them off, assembled them, and moved everything to our kitchen island. Then we saw one on one of the containers about an hour later! I moved everything to our kitchen table, and am hour later, I saw one on there. They are nowhere else (I checked like crazy!) But they seem to be only going after the purified water. I rubbed like juice all over the containers. I used lme juice years ago for my tenant's house (they had set up behind the water dispenser on the refrigerator!). So far, I haven't seen any.

That does sound like the sort of thing ghost ants will do. Trust me when I tell you that you did not get rid of them. The colony is still there and they may appear again someplace. In fact, I would almost bet the ranch on it. Unfortunately, the only thing you can do is wait and see. If they start to appear somewhere else, then you can try to bait them. It's mind blowing how they can find their way onto things sometimes and you cannot figure out how they managed to get there. Then you will only see one or two of them. The darn things can be so annoying. If you are lucky, then you may find where they are coming from and that is where you want to bait. Good luck with it. Thanks for sharing. Be well my friend.

Hi Guy! Many Many Thanks! I have a few questions please? Are the termite granules, Borax, Ant Bait,(Max gel) D-fense Non-repellent? Maybe even more silly is/will bait kill the colony? I dont want to get it in the pool water, after watching this video should I use the Advion Ant Gel around my vinyl inground pool (pvc coping around the perimeter) There are alot! @GuysPestSolutions 11 месяцев назад
The termite granules, boric acid, ant bait, and the D-Fense dust are all non-repellent. The baits will often kill the colony, but not always. If the bait fails, then you need to use a pesticide. I have a video on how to do that and I will give you a link to it. You can treat your yard with a hose end sprayer and Bifen XTS. This is all explained in the video. For a more in depth look at treating your yard, you can also check out my video on how to treat your yard. I go into a lot more detail in that video about how to use the hose end sprayer. Don't worry if you get a little of the pesticide in the pool. The pesticide is mixed 1/3 of an ounce per gallon of water, so it is pretty diluted anyway. Your pool probably holds 10 thousand gallons or more, so getting a fraction of an ounce of the diluted pesticide mixed in with all that pool water won't cause you any harm whatsoever. I have a screened in pool and I treat the entire enclosure every 60 days. All sorts of pesticide drips into my pool and my family and I are just fine. I'll bet at least five or six ounces of the diluted pesticide end up in my pool. I'm not worried about it. My pool holds about 13,000 gallons. So, if 6 ounces of diluted pesticide gets in the pool, that is 2 ounces of undiluted pesticide to 13,000 gallons of water. That wouldn't even harm the bugs. So, trust me. Getting a little in the pool accidentally won't hurt anything. I hope that helps. Be well Kathy. I've been using the gel for over three months now, but there is no reduction of ants. The ants gorge themselves on the gel. They keep coming back to the same spots whenever I reapply the gel where they've consumed all of it after a few days. It's almost as if the manufacturer forgot to add the poison part of the mix. I wonder if my ants are selfish and aren't sharing with the colony.

It is not unusual for the ants to prefer the sweet bait over the protein bait. We only offer it because there are some ants that will not eat sweet baits and do prefer the protein baits. They are kind of like little children that way. Most of the time they have no choice but to eat what is good for them, which is the protein. That is to say, most of the time they are eating things like dead bugs. Of course, I would hope that little children do not eat dead bugs. Lol. However, like little children, if you give them a choice between eating what is good for them and eating something sweet, they will probably eat the sweets. That is not to say the protein bait is good for the ants, but you get the point. Most of the ants do seem to have a sweet tooth. I'm sure that you have been killing off a lot of ants, but my guess is that you have a really large colony outside of your house someplace. It is probably so large that you are not getting enough of the bait into the colony to be effective. When this happens, we need to pull out the big guns. So, my recommendation would be to treat the yard and knockout all the ant colonies out there. I have a video on how to do that and I will give you a link too it. After you treat the yard, then I recommend that you go nuclear on them inside the house. There are any number of products that will work for this, but a good one would be Temprid Ready to Spray Aerosol. There is no mixing required. You just spray it along the ant trails and there is an applicator tip that will allow you to spray it in cracks and crevices as well. So, you can apply it exactly where the ants are coming from. This product is safe, effective, and odorless. It will last for up to six months, so no need to keep rebaiting like you have been doing. If you keep treating your yard every 60 to 90 days, then there will be no more ants to invade your home. These products are all fast working, so this should end your problem within a couple of days after treatment. The yard treatment is done with Bifen XTS. I will give you links to everything. So, go buy the products, watch the video, and then tell the ants, "No more Mr. Nice Guy." I hope that helps. Be well my friend. Welcome to Florida Lisa. You mentioned that you are building a new home. I know what I am going to say may sound crazy, but this is very good advice. If the wood structures are still open and the drywall is not up yet, pay the contractor to paint or spray Bora-Care on all the wood, including studs, joists, rafters, etc. If it's wood, spray or paint it with Bora-Care. This will prevent you from ever having termites of any kind in your home, virtually forever. Every home builder should do it, but they simply do not know about it. Bora-Care is available from domyown.com and it's not all that expensive to treat the entire home. Your contractor is going to think you're crazy and may not want to handle pesticides, but you can assure him/her that it's safe if they wear the required protective equipment. Trust me that it's worth paying extra for this treatment. Termites can do a massive amount of damage and here in Florida we have Formosan termites that can eat up your home really fast. You know the old saying about an ounce of prevention? This treatment will mean you never need to worry about termites ever. Now, if you don't do it, then please watch my termite video and do that treatment every year. It only costs $50 a year and it will stop all subterranean termites. The Bora-Care will even stop drywood termites too, but since subterranean termites are the most common and destructive, you need to do my $50 application annually at a minimum. Just thought you should know. Again, welcome to Florida. This is a wonderful place to live. I love it. Thanks for watching my video. If you know anyone who needs to save money, please hit the share button. I do not make any money on the videos or the products. My only motivation is to help others. So, please pass it alone. Thanks.

@@GuysPestSolutions Hi could I just use only the gel syringe for the ants
@GuysPestSolutions
@GuysPestSolutions 2 года назад
@@susanabushaban2719 Hi Susan. The baits that come in the syringes are generally all sweet. While it's true that the vast majority of ants prefer the sweet bait, it's also true that not all ants prefer the sweet bait. Sometimes you run into ants that will ignore the sweet bait because they like to eat protein. So, the answer to your question is, “maybe.” If you get lucky and the ants you are treating all like sweet bait and not protein, then the sweet bait is going to completely eliminate the colony. On the other hand, you may run into a queen that only eats protein. If that's the case, then you are going to kill a lot of ants with the sweet bait, but you will not kill that particular queen. One thing that makes ghost ants different than most other species of ants is that they can have multiple queens. All it takes is for one of those queens to not like sweet bait and you're not going to kill off the entire colony. All of that being said, I know lots of people who have just used the sweet bait and have had total success with it. So, you could try using just the sweet bait in the syringe and see how that works for you. At a minimum you're going to greatly reduce the ant population. If they come back fairly quickly, then you know you're going to need to also include the protein bait as well. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching. Be well Susan.

Hi used both baits outside where they are coming in. We have less of them but they are still here. Any additional insights? Would borax coated food crumbs help kill the queen? IS there anything else we can do? We are in FL. Never had ghost ants before, I was away and hubby left food containers out for 48 hours and now we have the ghost ants. I took a picture and blew it up so I know they are ghost ants. Thanks

When baiting fails, then you need to bring out the big guns and that never fails. Be well Michelle. Hello I find ghost ants on my windshield of car and few of them keep popping inside the car. What do you recommend I do to get rid of them?
@GuysPestSolutions
@GuysPestSolutions 3 года назад
Hi Bhavin. Don't you just hate these things? The first thing is that you need a general rule that nobody ever eats in the car unless absolutely necessary. I know in these times of Covid-19 that can be difficult because it's not safe to go into buildings to eat. Never the less, any food, wrappers, empty cups, etc., is a food source for ghost ants and they don't require much. I can tell you that food is never allowed in my car unless it's there simply to be transported from the store to my home. Eating in the car always runs the risk of crumbs and if you have kids, forget about it. No put down on kids, but they have been known to be less than totally careful when eating in the car. So, the first thing is to remove the food source. My guess is that you park in the same place all the time and there is most likely a colony in the ground somewhere near where you park. That will make killing them more difficult. Never the less, I always love a challenge. Make sure that you clean the inside of the car. Vacuum everything you can to be sure that you remove any of those crumbs that may be in the seats or carpets. Next, use the bait that I recommend in my video to kill any ghost ants that may have colonized in your car. If there is a colony in your car, this may take a few days or even weeks, depending on the level of the infestation. Just follow the video directions exactly, except with a car you want to place the bait where it won't be seen and where the ants eating it will not be a bother. Perhaps under the seats. Finally, you need to treat the colony in the ground where you usually park. If you own your own home, then watch my "General Exterior Pest Control" video and use Taurus SC to treat an area around the car out at least about 30 feet. Be sure to treat all the cracks and joints in the driveway and the lawn. Be sure to treat every six months. If you own your own home, treat the exterior of the house too. You don't want them in the house either. Ghost ants in the lawn are hard to kill this way, but I don't know how to bait them if they are colonized in the lawn somewhere. You could also try placing bait stations around the car, but the problem is weather. Additionally, you can use a granular insecticide on the lawn that is applied with a broadcast spreader. If you treat the lawn with Taurus SC, be sure to soak it pretty good. If you are living in an apartment, then treating the parking area and lawn may not be practical. However, if you thoroughly remove any food source from the car and then bait the car, you should be okay. The fear is that ghost ants don't require much food and if you miss any food source in the car, you may get reinvested after you kill any colony that is in the car. I know, this is probably not what you wanted to hear, but it's the reality of ghost ants. When you live in a warm climate like Florida, then ghost ants in your house and car are just part of deal that you have to cope with. The products are all available from www.domyown.com. I hope that helps. Sorry that there isn't an easier fix. Good luck with it and thanks for watching.

Can we get these from Lowe's - home depot or Walmart? Where is the best place to buy these products?
@GuysPestSolutions
@GuysPestSolutions 3 года назад
Hi Joyce, These products are not available locally at big box stores. These are professional grade insecticides. If you want these specific products you can purchase them online from domyown.com or Amazon. I believe that Lowes sells a bait that comes in a syringe type applicator, which is what you want, but I don't know if it's sweet or protein based. Most ants prefer the sweet bait, which is why I like Advion Ant Gel, but some ants do prefer the protein baits, which is why I also use Advance 375A. I think the product at Lowes is called Hot Shot Ant and Roach Bait and it's supposed to be clear, which is nice because you can't see it very well. I have never used it, so I don't know if it works. I am a bit suspicious because it is a shotgun approach for both ants and roaches. You could try it and if it does not work you can always just order the Advion Ant Gel and the Advance 375A if the Hot Shot fails you. Most likely, it does not have the same active ingredients that the pros use, but that doesn't mean it won't work. If you look at my termite video, you will see that I recommend a product that is available at Lowes and Home Depot that is very effective on termites. It is not considered a professional product, but it does a wonderful job on termites. So, just because a product is formulated for homeowners does not mean they won't work. I'm always up for trying new things. I hope that helps. Thank you so much for watching my video and for the question. I love receiving questions. Please watch my other videos if you get a chance and, if you like them, please click the share button and pass them along to someone who needs to save money. I do not make any money on the videos or the products. My only goal is to help others save money.

Ghost ants are really weird like that. Most ants send out lots of workers after the food and you will generally see a clear trail, but it is very common for ghost ants to send just one or two at a time. So, when we just see one, we think "no big deal" and we just kill it, hoping that's the end of it. Sadly, there are almost always many more of them and they are one of the only kind of ants that will colonize inside a building. Since they often just send a couple of workers out, it can take a long time to kill the colony, especially since, unlike other ants, these guys can have multiple queens. My recommendation would be to place bait where you saw the ants. The good news is that, if there are others around, then you will see activity on the bait. If that is the case, just continue to bait them every day with a very small amount of bait. As I said in the video, these things like their bait fresh, so use very little and do it every day. If you put some bait down and you don't see any activity, then you may have gotten lucky and the two you saw were from the outside and just foraging for food and none of them had a chance to return to the colony, which hopefully is outside as well. My guess is though that, if they were on the kitchen counter, you most likely have a colony somewhere in the apartment that is in or close to the kitchen. I have the best luck with the sweet baits, so you may want to try that first. Good luck with it and please be patient with them. I have had large infestations that literally took weeks to get rid of. I really hate these things. Thanks for watching.

@@lauracusack9773 Normally, when I'm dealing with ants inside the house, I would recommend baiting them, but since you are having this problem inside and out, I'm going to recommend using a pesticide. Actually, I'm going to recommend using two different pesticides. Before we get started though you should know that there are a lot of ants in the world, and they are going to keep coming. Therefore, if you want to stop them from returning, after you do the initial treatment, then you need to treat them every couple of months. I'm going to talk to you today about doing an inside treatment and an outside treatment. If you do the outside treatment every couple of months, then you will no longer have to do the inside treatment. Let's start with how to treat the inside. I recommend that you purchase a product called Temprid FX. You can purchase this product in a single dose container for about $12, and that is all you need to treat the inside. That single dose is going to make more pesticide than you are going to need, so you can use the rest outside. If you cannot get the single dose, then buy the 240 ml bottle and you can use it outside instead of the Bifen It that I am going to talk about. After it's gone, you can go to the Bifen IT because it's cheaper. For now though, let's talk about how to treat the inside. The first thing you need to do is purchase a cheap garden sprayer from Lowe's or Home Depot. If you want, you can also get them from Amazon, and I will give you a link for one. Now this is very important. I have never used a single dose bottle because I am a pest controller and I use a lot of pesticide. So, I'm not sure what that bottle is going to tell you, but I want you to shake the bottle before you use it and mix that entire bottle with 1/2 gallon of water in the garden sprayer and shake it up to mix it. The bottle may tell you that it makes a gallon, but do not follow that direction. You should only make a half a gallon with it. If you buy the 240 ml bottle, then mix it 8 ml for a half gallon or 16 ml for a gallon. Now that it's mixed, just pump up the sprayer a few times to get a low pressure in the sprayer. Set the tip of the sprayer to make a light mist spray and simply spray the plants, the soil, and the pots with it. After that, spray all the baseboards in all the areas where you are having a problem with ants. You also want to spray the floor where the exterior doors meet the floor. You can apply this around windows as well, if you have ants coming through there. In other words, apply this product any place where you have ants. If you have any of the product leftover, then go outside and treat around all the exterior windows and doors. Shake the sprayer often to keep the product mixed. For the outside I recommend using a product called Bifen IT. This product can be used to stop all sorts of pests from entering your home or you can just use it for the ants. If you are just treating for ants, then mix this product one ounce per gallon of water and spray your plants with it, including the soil and the pots. Next, you should treat a 3-foot area around the pots. Since you also have ants that like to come into the house, you need to treat around the entire perimeter of the house. Spray up the side of the house a couple of feet and from the house out a couple of feet as well. You only need a light spray on the side of the house, but you want to soak the ground fairly well, and you want to soak the area where the ground meets the house really well. You also want to apply this product around all the windows and doors. If you would like to know how to keep all the pests out of your house, then watch my video on the subject. Also, treating the outside of your house goes a lot faster if you purchase a battery-operated sprayer. I will give you a link to one that will serve you well for many years. If you buy the battery-operated sprayer, keep in mind that you do not need to fill it all the way. I am going to recommend a 3-gallon sprayer, but you don't have to mix all three gallons. If mixing 3 gallons is too heavy for you, then just mix one or two gallons. Also, this is a backpack sprayer, but you do not need to put it on your back. Please note that the sprayers that I recommend in the video are no longer available and that is why I am recommending a different one. You should also note that I recommend different products in the video. Just ignore the product recommendations in the video and use the Bifen IT every two months, and that will end your bug problems. When applying any pesticides, you should always wear rubber gloves, a respirator, and eye protection. These products are all safe for children to play on after they dry, but you don’t want to be getting the liquid in your eyes and you don’t want to breath in the mist. It is always best to wear rubber gloves, but don’t worry if you get some of the mist on your skin. Just take a shower after you are finished. The diluted pesticide is not all that toxic to people, and you probably won’t even notice any effects if you get some on you, but you certainly want to avoid getting it on you if you can. I always get some of the overspray on myself when I am working outside, but I am careful to wear a respirator and goggles because I get it in my face more than I would like to admit. Still, I have been doing this for years and I am still here. So, just wear the protective equipment and take a shower when you are finished, and you will be fine. I hope that helps. Be well Laura. I am all too familiar with the problem. Most of the time, this is a problem that you see in slab homes. So, if you live in a slab home, then I can tell you how to solve your problem. Now, keep in mind that I have not inspected your home, so I am kind of just venturing an educated guess here. Again, if you have a slab home, then there is a fairly good probability that what you have is a large ant colony underneath that slab. The reason they are going into your bathtub is because they are looking for water. Unfortunately for them, after they get in the bathtub, they are unable to climb their way back out. It is very unlikely that these guys are coming out of the drain. They are most likely coming in through cracks and crevices around the bathtub, particularly if you have the kind of house that has a window that is located above the bathtub. Baiting for this problem does not work because the colony is way too large for that and the ants cannot find their way back to the colony because, well, they are stuck in the bathtub. I am guessing that you are not seeing them eating your food in the house and that would be because they are actually finding food outside. Therefore, if all of these assumptions are correct, then you need to treat the lawn. By treating the lawn, you will kill off their food supply and they will literally starve to death. After you treat the lawn, you may see them entering the house to find food and that may require further treatment inside, but this does not always happen. Before I explain how to treat your yard, please let me know if I hit the nail on the head with these assumptions or if I am all wet. Like I said, I have not inspected your house. If you do not have a slab home, then you have a different problem. Please get back to me and let me know. Be well my friend.

@@marcobala9284 You can send me an email with your phone number is you would like to talk to me. My email address is guyspestsolutions@gmail.com. If you are having the same problem as Ms. Scarlett, then I will give you the treatment right now for the lawn. I recommend using Bifen IT and a specific garden hose sprayer that I know works, but you can use any brand that you wish. I will place a link below for both the sprayer and Bifen IT. I have found that these sprayers do not last beyond a few uses because they seem to clog up quite easily, even if you clean them really well. So, what happens is you end up just spraying water instead of pesticide. That is why it is a good idea to put a dye in with the pesticide, so that you know it is working. I will provide you with links to all the products. When the sprayer stops working, just buy a new one. They are not very expensive. This application method does not require a lot of protective equipment. I recommend wearing goggles, rubber gloves, long pants, a respirator, and long sleeve shirt (If it's not too hot out). The Bifen IT is too thick to be picked up by the siphon tube in the sprayer and therefore, it needs to be diluted. To do this, pour 4 ounces of the Bifen IT into the sprayer and then add enough water to fill it to the 32-ounce mark. So, that would be 4 ounces of product and an additional 28 ounces of water. As you are adding the water, swirl it around a bit in the container, so that it mixes as you are adding the water. Before screwing the sprayer onto the holding cup, make sure that the siphon tube is securely into the sprayer head. If the siphon tube falls out, then you will be spraying with plain water. Set the sprayer at 8 ounces per gallon. The labeled dilution rate for the Bifen IT is 1 ounce per gallon of water, but you diluted it 1 ounce of product to 7 ounces of water, so that means you need to apply it at a rate of 8 ounces per gallon. At this application rate, you will see the holding cup drain down fairly quickly, so you will know that it's working. If the product does not seem to be emptying out of the holding cup fairly quickly, then something is wrong, and you need to stop and figure it out. If the siphon tube is solidly in place, then it could be that the screen on the end of the tube is clogged. If that is clear, then put your finger over the bottom of the tube and turn on the water. If you do not feel the suction, then it's not working, and the sprayer is malfunctioning. You always want to clean the spryer really well after each use to avoid clogs. It's always a good idea to put a dye in the cup with the pesticide and that will show if the product is being dispensed. Just avoid spraying anything that you don't want colored, like concrete or the house. The color will wash off the lawn and plants when it rains. You really don't need to use so much dye that you actually color the grass. You just want enough color so that you can tell that the pesticide is being picked up by the siphon tube. Attach the sprayer to a garden hose and you are all set. Set the sprayer for a downward fan spray and spray your entire lawn, ornamental plants, and garden. Again, if you use the dye, then do not spray concrete. Otherwise, I would spray the entire property from the house out to the property line. Pro tips: To make this application quicker and easier, I recommend that you buy 100 feet of one of those super hoses that you see advertised on TV all the time. They are lightweight and make the job go a lot quicker and easier. Also, if you attach a quick disconnect to both the sprayer and the garden hose, it makes refilling the sprayer a lot easier and quicker. These hoses require that you have a shutoff valve at the end of the hose where the sprayer is located, so that you can shut the water off prior to removing the sprayer. Most of the hoses have a shutoff valve built in, but not all of them do. If you buy one that does not have a shut off valve, then you need to add your own. I will place links below for all these items. Please note that these hoses should be stored inside because they deteriorate fairly quickly when left in the sunlight. I hope that helps. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have. If you need to speak with me, just send me you phone number. I will text before I call. Be well my friend. I'm so sorry that you're having this problem. The ants you have are not exactly behaving like ghost ants, but regardless of what species of ant you have, they do sound like they need to be eliminated just as quickly as possible. Normally, I like to bait for ants, but when I have an infestation this bad, I generally turn to liquid pesticides and a dust to achieve a fast knockdown. The problem is that I have no idea what pesticides are available in Uganda. This being the case, I would recommend that you go to whatever sort of store is available in Uganda that handles pesticides of any type and look for whatever pesticide is available. Naturally, you want products that are registered for interior use. If you're lucky, you can find both a liquid pesticide and dust. If actual pesticides are not available, then see if you can get your hands on boric acid. Now boric acid is slow to be sure, but it will get the job done. Okay, let's talk about how to apply this stuff. If you were able to obtain a liquid pesticide, then spray it along all ant trails that you can find. You don't want to spray it directly on surfaces where food is prepared or eaten, but virtually every place else where you are seeing ants should be treated with the pesticide. The idea is to put the pesticide anyplace that the ants could possibly go, as long as you are not going to contaminate food surfaces, clothing, or anything like that. If you can get your hands on a dust, even if it's just boric acid, then apply the dust in all cracks and crevices where the ants could possibly travel. Be careful not to use too much dust. A light dusting is all you need. If the ants encounter a mound of dust, they are probably just going to go around it, instead of walking through it. It's fine to puff some dust under appliances as well. The idea is you want the dust to be placed anywhere it will not be disturbed by people or pets. The best way to apply the dust is with a small handheld duster. I don't know if they are available to you locally, but there is probably a good chance that you can have one mail ordered to you. Now, most of the pesticides and dusts that you are going to find, with the exception of the boric acid, are probably going to be repellent pesticides. I think most pest controllers are going to tell you not to treat ants with a repellent pesticide, but in your case I would do it anyway. The problem with a repellent pesticide is that the ants are going to know that they are being poisoned. This is generally considered to be a bad thing because the ants are going to be killed fairly quickly and they are not going to bring the pesticide back to the colony to kill the queen. Further, they are going to avoid the areas where you treated with the repellent pesticide. Well, that is exactly what you want to do. When you have that many ants, you don't want to be spending time waiting for the baits to take effect. It's not an entirely bad thing if the ants start avoiding areas where you don't want them. If you applied the pesticides everywhere you could possibly put it, then the ants really going to have no place else to go. Any ants that do decide to stick around, can dine on the bait that you put out for them. Either way, the ants should be gone. Now let's talk about how to use baits as well. After you get the pesticide and the dust applied, then go ahead and use a bait. You always want to use the pesticides and dust first before you bait. If you place pesticide or dust over the top of a bait, the ants are not going to want to eat it anymore. If you're lucky, you can find some sort of bait locally. Most baits are sweet and that's okay because the vast majority of ants do prefer sweet over protein anyway. Just apply the bait as shown in my video and be sure to place it along all the ant trails. If you cannot obtain a commercially manufactured bait, then it is possible to make one yourself. If you can get your hands on boric acid, then you can use that to make a fairly effective bait. There are a variety of formulas for this, but the one I like the best is to mix eight teaspoons of sugar with two teaspoons of honey, in a cup of hot water. After you have it good and mixed, then go ahead and add one teaspoon of the boric acid powder and mix it up really well again. Next, get as many bottle caps or container lids as you can find. I like the caps from soda bottles, milk bottles, water bottles, etc. Finally, put some cotton or folded up cloth inside the bottle caps and pour a little of the mixture that you just made onto the cotton. You just want it damp and not so wet that the ants have to actually go swimming. Like before, place these bottlecaps along all the ant trails. After you have the ants under control, then try not to let them get out of hand again. The next time you start seeing ants again, then waste no time in baiting them. Remember, the dust and pesticide are only used to achieve that quick knockdown, but if you don't have that many ants then just baiting would be the way to go. Sorry for the long explanation. Please let me know how you make out. I would be very interested in learning if you can find any of these pesticides locally. Also, do not hesitate to ask all the questions you want. I'm always here to help. Be well my friend.

What about Ants with Wings..will it work?
@GuysPestSolutions
@GuysPestSolutions 3 месяца назад
Please make sure that these are ants and not termites. It is much more common to see termites with wings than ants with wings. Count the body segments. If you see three body segments, then these are ants. If you only see two body segments, then these are probably termites. Also, are there four wings of equal length. If so, then these are termites. Ants do not have four wings of equal length. If these are ants, then please tell me where you are seeing them, what color they are, and how large they are. I can most likely tell you how to get rid of them. Be well my friend.

I'm sorry it took so long to answer this. Your comment didn't show up like they normally do. I usually get a notification when I get a comment, but I didn't get that in your case for some reason. I do try to answer within 24 hours. I have no idea what happened. I hope that you do try these products. They are very effective, but ghost ants do require patients. I have had colonies that I knocked out in a couple of days and I have had some that are really large and it literally took several weeks. The thing about ghost ants is that they often do not send out a lot of workers to bring back the bait and, unlike most other types of ants, these things can have multiple queens in one colony. Also, they like their bait fresh, so it's important to use very little, but do it every day. It's a pain to be sure, but it does get the job done. Again, sorry for the delay in answering.

Sugar ants and ghost ants are two different species that are cut from the same cloth. The best way to kill them is to bait them, but if there is an isolated area where you want to keep them away, like the dog bowl, you can treat the underside of the dog bowl and the exposed edge of the bowl with a repellent pesticide that has a residual action. You just don't want to spray it in the area of the bowl where the dog food is placed. When ants encounter a repellent pesticide, they somehow know that it's poison and they avoid the sprayed surfaces. An easy and effective product is Raid Ant and Roach Killer. Now, like I said, you don't want to get this into the area of the bowl where the food is because it is toxic to eat it, but it won't hurt anything for the dog to just be near it. So, using it on the underside of the bowl and maybe about a quarter inch along the outside near the bottom of the rim would be fine. You can put on some rubber gloves and spray some on a paper towel and just wipe it on the rim of the bowl, so that you don't get any spray on the eating surface. This product kills on contact and lasts about four weeks before you need to reapply it, so any ants that attempt to invade the dog food will die. Since the ants will be aware of this, they will most likely go elsewhere to find food. So, make it easy for them. Place some of the bait near where the dog bowl is. This way they will have another food source readily available and they will not need to go searching the rest of your house to find a place to eat. Hopefully, the colony will be dead before you need to reapply the Raid to the dog bowl. By the way, the Raid works great for drain flies too. If you ever get drain flies, just shoot the Raid down the drains for a couple of seconds before you go to bed and let it work overnight. No more drain flies. You see, you don't always need all the expensive, fancy stuff that we pest controllers like to use. Sometimes the over-the-counter stuff works just fine. Thanks for watching. Be well my friend.

@@xiaobao4757 The first thing you want to do is to make sure that these are not carpenter ants. I am guessing this is not the case because you said these ants are small. Carpenter ants are quite large, so this is probably a species that is more of an annoyance than a threat to the building. They are most likely coming into the building looking for moisture, and bathroom sinks can provide that. I recommend that you try baiting them for a couple of weeks. Just place small dots of the bait along the ant trail and feed them every day. If they are not gone in about 2 weeks, then I can show you a way to go nuclear on them. @GuysPestSolutions
@GuysPestSolutions 2 года назад
@@josejuliaperez9205 Personally, I have seen this process take weeks with ghost ants. The problem with these things is that they oftentimes do not come out in large enough numbers to adequately kill all the queens, and there can be multiple queens. It is also possible that the colony may not be located inside your home, but rather outside. If that is the case, then eradicating these things can be very difficult by baiting alone. So, I would give the baiting alone another couple of weeks and see what happens. If the problem has not been resolved by then, I would recommend that you do an exterior treatment of the house and I would also treat the lawn. I have a video on how to do a proper exterior treatment of the house. Unfortunately, I do not have a video on how to treat your lawn, but I do have a video on how to treat mosquitoes. In the mosquito video I show you how to do the proper treatment on your lawn. Just do the lawn treatment that I explained in that video, but do not bother treating anything other than the ground/grass. I will place links below for both videos. It is always a good idea to do the exterior treatment of your house every three months to prevent ants from entering in the first place. I mean, they had to get in from someplace and that someplace was from the outside. The exterior treatment also stops a whole bunch of other bugs from entering as well. In the exterior treatment video recommend two different products. In your case, all you need is the Talstar P. That product will work for both the exterior treatment and the lawn treatment. @GuysPestSolutions
@GuysPestSolutions Год назад
That is a fairly strange situation. Most of the time ants invade your car looking for food. Since you say you haven't eaten your car, you have to wonder what they are doing there. No matter though. Just based on the extent of the problem, these do not sound like ghost ants, but regardless of the species, the treatment would be the same. The first thing you need to do this remove everything from the car that is not actually part of the car. This would include floor mats, child car seats, seat covers, and any items you have laying around in the car. You also need to clean everything out of the trunk as well. You are going to want to treat those items outside of the car. Now that you have everything removed, go ahead and vacuum the car just as good as you can. It is a good idea to use one of the vacuums at a car wash because they are more powerful and you don't need to worry about cleaning them afterwards. If you are going to use your own vacuum, then throw away the bag, and clean out the canister and wash it. Next, you need to lightly spray everything with "Temprid Ready to Spray" and let it dry. Be sure to spray on and under the seats, under the dashboard, on the doors, floors, in the trunk, and even in the engine compartment. It is a good idea to wear a respirator and goggles while you are applying the product, but it is perfectly safe after it dries. This product provides a quick knockdown of the existing ants and it leaves behind a residual that will last for at least a couple of months. So, even if the initial treatment doesn't hit some of the ants, they will die when they cross this material at some point. Now that you have treated the car, you want to use the same procedure on anything that was in the car. It's pretty much that simple. If you park in the same place every day, then it is a good idea to treat the area under the car and around the car for about 20 feet in each direction. You can do that with Ortho Home Defense or any of those sorts of products labeled for exterior applications around your home. I would also recommend treating around all the tires with it as well. This will help repel and kill any new ants that are trying to enter your car. I hope that helps. Be well my friend. Temprid Ready to Spray: www.domyown.com/temprid-ready-to-spray-p-2657.html

Yes, I agree. I've gotten more than a little grief about telling people in the video that you can use Talstar P to treat splash boards on counters and so forth if you need to eliminate the problem in a specific area very quickly. Naturally, you never want to apply a pesticide directly on a surface where food is prepared. However, it is perfectly legal to apply a pesticide on surfaces that are close to where food is prepared, as long as you cover those surfaces while you are applying the pesticide or if you wash those food preparation surfaces down after the pesticide is applied. This means that you can apply Talstar P, not only to the splash boards next to the wall, but you can also apply it on the sides and rear of the stove, refrigerator, sides of cabinets, baseboards, and so forth. As I mentioned in my video, your first line of defense should be baiting, but if the ants are actually getting into your food or food preparation areas, then you should apply Talstar P in a manner that will prevent the ants from gaining access to those areas. For example, if the ants are making their way up onto the stove and into a frying pan, then it is perfectly okay to treat the sides of the stove, the cabinet walls, kitchen walls adjoining the stove, and the floor under the stove. The idea is to place a pesticide barrier in such a way that the ants will have no choice but to cross it in order to get to the area where you wish to keep them away. Not only is Talstar P a quick kill product, but the ants will most likely recognize it as a pesticide and will avoid it. Also, it has a residual action of about 90 days, it’s odorless, and it will not stain your walls or other surfaces. Just to be clear though, this product is not going to eliminate the colony because it is only designed to keep the ants away and kill the ones that are present. That is why you should only use it on areas that are an immediate problem. For other areas, you should rely on the baits that I recommend in the video. I hope that helps. Be well my friend.

@GuysPestSolutions
@GuysPestSolutions 3 года назад
No. This product is safe for pets. It's not the sort of thing that pets generally pay attention to and you will be using very little of it. Also, it's not very toxic to mammals. Naturally, like any pesticide, you wouldn't want your pets to eat an entire tube of it, but they would not be harmed if they tried to lick up a few dots that are on the baseboard. Ants don't eat much, so the key to success is to apply a small amount every day until the problem is solved. You have to be very patient with ghost ants. It can go really fast with them if you have a small infestation, but it can also take weeks or months to get it done if the infestation is really bad. I had a place in my home when I moved in that took a couple of months because the infestation was very large. The hard part for me is remembering to apply the bait every day. I end up having to put a note on the kitchen table, so I remember to do it every morning before breakfast. Also, don't forget to do the "General Exterior Pest Control" that I explain in that video as well. If you do the exterior pest control, then you will get rid of any ghost ants that are coming in from the outside and you will stop them from re-infesting your home. You will also stop all the other bugs from coming in as well. I hope that helps. Good luck with it and thanks for watching.

That's not the best idea if you are dealing with ghost ants. Sometimes it's important to understand a little about the behavior of the species that you are dealing with. I understand that, a lot of the time, all folks want is the solution and don't want to be bothered with the reasons for doing it. Unfortunately, that philosophy can lead to making mistakes that may result in an ineffective treatment or even a hazardous situation. Ten minutes is not a huge investment in time to obtain important information about what you are doing. how much does it cost for ghost ants pest control
@GuysPestSolutions
@GuysPestSolutions 3 года назад
@@jodysierra4641 First, your dogs are safe if the products are used as directed. Keep in mind that you are using very little of the Advion Ant Bait and very little of the Advance 375A. It is highly unlikely that dogs will ingest any of these products when applied in tiny amounts on or in baseboards, wood joints, etc. and they would need to eat a lot of it to cause harm. So, I have never seen problems with dogs and the products are regarded as pet safe by the manufactures. With regard to cost, I do my best to keep the costs as low as I can for all my pet treatments, but ghost ants can be hard to get rid of, so it's not as cheap as I would like. Most ghost ants prefer the sweet bait, which is the Advion Ant Bait gel. That costs about $30 for four tubes. Trust me, you can end up using that much if you have a lot of ants. The Advance 375A costs about $25 for a container and that is a protein bait. The reason that I use both is because some ants prefer the sweet and some prefer the protein. Most of the time it's the sweet that they go for, but not always and sometimes the workers like the sweet, but the queen(s) wants protein and it's the queen(s) that are the target. So you are looking at about $55 to do it right. Also, be sure to feed them every day with the sweet because they like their bait fresh. You don't need to do that with the protein bait. Use very little bait each day. They don't eat much in a day. You need to remember to do this every day to get control and bad infestations can take days or weeks because often times ghost ants have multiple queens and they don't send out a lot of workers to bring back the bait. So you need to be patient. Finally, it's important to do my "General Exterior Pest Control" because it is not uncommon for the colony to be outside and you want to be sure that you are stopping them from entering in the first place. If you place a barrier around you home every three months you will keep all the pests out, including ghost ants. Once you have them gone, you don't want to get them again. I hope that answers your questions. Good luck with it and thanks for watching.

I shut you down after 15 seconds because your audio was way too low and choppy. I'll admit, I'm not the sharpest blade in the drawer, but if you (and many others) can't do it right, don't do it.

I'm sorry that you are having that problem with the audio. The audio from all my videos are functioning correctly, so my guess is that you are having a problem on your end. Check the audio on your computer or cell phone. Make sure that your volume is turned up all the way. If that is not the problem, then you may have a hardware issue. Try viewing videos on a different device. If that does not work, then try viewing videos from a different location. It is possible that your router is the culprit. You can also see if hard wiring the router to your computer solves the problem. Routers can cause audio issues, so I would definitely check that out. I hope that helps. Be well my friend.

@@GuysPestSolutions @Guy's Pest Solutions Well it looks like I made a fool of myself...yet once again. I cannot apologize enough. After receiving your very prompt reply, I brought your video up on my Windows 10 desktop...Works fine. Then I brought you up on my android smartphone...Works fine. Then I went back to the original device I was watching at the time....my new Roku TCL TV. Your video...still tinny, trebly and cracking a bit. So I guess the average person would be packing up the TV to go back, yes? The TV obviously has an audio problem. However, every video I watched before I got to yours worked fine. And every video I watched after yours worked fine. I have absolutely no clue what's going on or why just one video on just one device. One of these days I'd love to get a normal problem! Once again...my sincere apologies. Larry

@@larryk4311 That's okay Larry. I am always running into that sort of thing. I was watching a video a couple of days ago about an issue I was having with my pool and the volume was so low that I could hardly hear it. Turns out that I have two volume controls on my computer system. One on the computer itself and one on an external speaker. I always leave the computer volume on max and I control the volume on the speaker. Well, I don't know how I did it, but somehow I managed to lower the volume on the computer. I probably touched a key on the keyboard by mistake or something. Anyway, I was busy cursing the poor guy out for having such poor quality audio, while the whole time it was just my dumb mistake. In you case, it was totally nothing you did, but I can certainly understand the feeling. Also, there are a lot of videos out there that do have poor audio. A lot of RU-vidrs just use the mic on the camera and that produces low quality audio. I always use a lapel mic and record the audio track on a voice recorder. Then I marry up the audio with the video in post production. That is the way the pros do it and I learned that from, you guessed it, RU-vid. I always run my finished videos all the way through to ensure that the audio is good and that I didn't say anything totally stupid. Apparently not everyone does that. Lol. Anyway, it's all good. I'm glad you found the problem. Be well my friend.
