During the summer vacations of '85 through '92 my neighbor Darius would throw these huge parties where jumpin' music, like this classic, would pound from his sound system. Crowds of kids would dance and bounce and boink for hours. After sunset the air around his garage would be heavy with the aromas of Drakkar Noir, Lori Davis brand hairspray, and those "funny cigarettes". By '93 his parties were distant memories. He marreid in '94 and is blessed with five kids. Darius, we miss you!!
Rest in peace Rankin Rogers your beautiful soul lives forever in this song and all the great song you made and your beautiful facial dimples and smile are greatly missef
Ranking Rogers vocals were astonishing ❤️🌹💐🌹❤️ and so refreshing oh my goodness such a beautiful man ...we loss a beloved soul heaven knows I miss him GREATLY this was a big hit for the band 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥
I absolutely love this song and always have. Tenderness featured in both Weird Science and Clueless; two amazing movies. Thanks for reading my comment.
Im 24 years old now and I come back every couple of years to enjoy this song.. I love how it’s such an upbeat and fun song yet he’s talking about real life issues. ‘I don’t know where to start or when to stop.. my luck is like a button and I can’t stop pushing it.’ ❤️💡 This song makes more sense the older I get.. the world just needs a little tenderness. 🌺
My parents got me into the 80's and now I see why. Its wonderful music, so beautiful!! Its weird cus I'm from the 90's; I kind of wish I was part of the 80's.
you're so right hahaha! i grew up in the 80s and damn how i envied our older cousins who were in their late teens and early 20s then. and their music was so cool. sadly, most of them listen to horrid top 40s of recent years now, probably surrendered to their kids' tastes. pity.
It's 1987 I'm 8 years old watching this on MTV. Ordering a pizza on our landline house phone,Not an app. Me and my brother probably watched weird science a 100 times. Miss those days for sure & my brother.... RIP Danny.....
In the spring of 1987 at age 27 I vacationed in Marbella and Torremolino Spain. The music of General Public, Peter Gabriel and others was heard at the beaches coming from ghetto blasters. Scandinavian, Dutch and British girls were aplenty. The music of the 80's were fantastic.
This is such a wonderful, happy and uplifting song...who would want to rate this with a thumbs down...? I just can't understand these miserable people...
Rest In Peace to the lead singer Ranking Roger. Thanks for the great music. Damn I was lucky enough to be alive and hear this tune coming out of the radio. Instead of the trash kids get today.
not only nice voices, the rythm, all the sounds that incorporate in every song, vocals, all my body is dancing right now! one of much many 80´s emblemating songs
+soph scots yeah, easy to see where the guts of the Beat lay; shame to see two versions of the Beat touring these days headed by each of them, wish they would reassemble.
If I wasn’t scared to go to jail I’ll blast this so loud right now 12:50 am 🤪 I love this song. Listen the 80s was bittersweet drugs took over in my town and music was all the kids had to get through life. I was made in 78 but the 80s build me💪 👊🏽
I'm very proud to say that I was a growing child in the 1980s because of songs like this one. How I wish I remained a child forever and never grew up. This is another song perfect as a soundtrack for coming-of-age films in the 80s no matter what country they're from.
I'm was born in '86 and going to be 30 in 9 months Whoa! I'm sitting watching Weird Science and hear this song I just think about this song!!! I honestly can say I've been very BLESSED to have a mother that's only 20 yrs older and father that's 27 yrs older. So that means I grew up to listening to this 80's Classic, Nirvana, Guns N Roses, Zeppelin, DMC, Daddy Kane, 80's and 90's music, movies, and fashion! I mean even in the late 90's early 2000's when Boy Bands, Korn, Limp Bizket, and Rap starting to burst, music was still pretty good. Shit the other day I was in Staples and Savage Garden came on! 6th grade 1998, wtf? Seriously what happen to music? Most my friends are in their early-late 30's, my uncle is 45 and I remember thinking back I couldn't wait to be grown up like them so I could go and party with them! Now I'm 29 and the world is nowhere near those times! I use to love to listen to the radio and record songs 80's freestyle, rock and rap and now I don't to the trash of today. It's straight garbage! Music has no substance and always directly talks about sex which I don't mind but all the time??? What about love? Heartbreak? Family problems? Real life issues? I guess between Twitter and Instagram the world kinda lost of reality? It's like I'm actually living within a Matrix! Whatever! Blessed the person who invented RU-vid and the person who uploaded this video. I've been asking myself all the time why I wasn't born 20 yrs earlier, I guess I'll never know! Anyway thanks for the upload! N sorry for the rant! Just miss good music and movies n oh yeah wrestling!
Quote from an interviewer with Dave Wakeling: "One of the things Dave and I talked about was how his music was incorporated into the films of two 80s heroes named John - Cusack and Hughes. Sadly, John Hughes had passed away just 4 months prior, at the young age of 59. John Hughes had a lot of respect for cool music from the 80s, and I asked Dave if he had met John Hughes, and he told me how John went backstage during the General Public tour to say hello, stretched his hand out to Dave and said (of “Tenderness”), “Anybody who’s got the balls enough to put a bassoon in a pop song and get away with it is a man I need to meet.” It's a damn BASSOON! I had to know.
To many good songs for me to rank.I hear a song from the 80's up goes the volume and it's my favorite. My daughter is getting married and her reception music is almost all 80's. It will feel like prom all over again!
God how I still love this song & remember when I first heard it & had to buy it, the music of today cannot compete with the music of this era & they prove it with all of the sampling & redos that can never come close to the original music or what we felt of it at the time so I much prefer the originals & no I'm not stuck in the past but you can't improve on perfection period!! 💜
No comparison my man,i agree, back in those days it seems that every other day some bad ass song was popping up in some country, didn't mater which one it was,in terms of music it was a incredible decade.
Love this song big shout to my niece Rachel up Liverpool why can't they write songs like this anymore can't wait to see madness in August in Belfast Eamon cuddy
