I had a comment on a video I posted last week that suggested I look into generating background plates using depth maps, by only keeping the pixels that are furthest away. I thought it was an interesting idea, so I wrote a little Python script to do just that. It can only be as good as the depth information, so it's not a perfect solution, but it could be a good starting point for a clean background plate, especially in scene with a lot of people moving around.
