And he should have quit while he was still a legend because if I paid 800. for a ticket to that show I'd want my money back. Tony Bennett is 95 and has Alzheimer's and makes Phil Collins look like a fool.
@@davidrossetti5369 It's like wanting to see Muhammad Ali sting like a bee and float like a butterfly at 70 with Parkinson's desease. He's still the greatest ever!
One of the saddest thing about being in my 50s is seeing all my favourite musicians and actors getting old.... Genesis are still owning that stage thought and Phil still hits the notes
As someone young this gives me some remorse as well. I grew up on these guys. But I've been to my fair share of concerts, and I still wouldn't be disappointed to see them in concert.
You know what? Phil Collins fucking kicks ass. He really does. I see a fighter on stage with no quitting in him. It took a lot of guts for him to sing his songs in front of people again: I think he’s specifically empowered by the notion of making music with his son. I’m not saddened by this: on the contrary, I’m energized to see his fighting spirit.
Phil’s is bad shape and has been for awhile.there’s some will set back and call all this a money grab and believe there’s bands out there who outlived their stay but you have to ask yourselves how Phil would feel personally confined to a chair in front of a live audience.look how many performances he did throughout his career and imagine how much courage and to put his emotions in check and to not be embarrassed of the way in which he performs.
@@gorfpatrol5482 Yes, that's why can no longer play drums, and has to sit when performing . Standing rooted to the spot for long periods with a nasty back problem can be very uncomfortable ! I know this through having the same problem.
He will always be a legend in my book, he's one of the greatest singer in history, I will always listen to his music because I love it and I love him...he makes us happy just to see him sit there and sing...this maybe his last concert but look at it that he's still here with us...and he can open his heart and gave us some of his best songs that not even today's music can give us...hes a legend always and forever ❤
Phil Collins still has his great voice 👏. He is a great entertainer. I've been listening to him for a long time now and it's sad we all will be old some day. It's 2023 and I his music will continue to go on even when he's gone. We love ❤ you Phil Collins!
But shouldn't it be Chester drumming?, he is Genesis' live drummer and seems to have been snubbed. Maybe bring Nick in for the parts when they need two drummers.
So sad to see Phil like this now. I saw him live 3 times in the 80s and 90s. He was sensational. I will always have good memories of him and his music.
UMMM, they toured because Phil needs money after another expensive divorce. Small acoustic settin may be artistically better..but this is an accountant reunion. Nothing more.
@@hillsinspace1 He's rich as shit. This whole thing is cash grab (for whatever reason?) and it sounds like shit. Honestly it's embarrassing...grow old gracefully or play small/low key sets in small theater. (crowd of 5000 or less)
Damn. Good on you, Phil!! Earlier I was so sad to see him in the recent news at Berlin. I knew his health wasn't good, but I didn't comprehend the scope. But Phil's Britain's answer to Johnny Cash! Singer, activist, and performer to the end. Time will break the body but it can't break the spirit if you won't let it.
I'm sorry cause I know alot of you are not to agree with me but I would rather remember him for who he was and not where he is now.... it breaks my heart to see him like this ... he should be home revelling in the life and times of a legend not out trying to hang on too that which is no more . I love Phil and his contributions he has made to the sound track of my life will live with me til I die and beyond. Rest easy Phil.......
Phil is a true talent. We can't control how we age. He worked non stop thru the 80s. The guy has performed his butt off. The man still has more talent in a sliver of his fingernail than most people. Commend him for still giving us Phil. There will never be anything close to Phil Collins!!!!
@@davidgintis4658 yes that's right, I forgot about that. He is still amazing. He sure was in overdrive in the 80s. If you really think about Phil in how busy he was, it is hard to wrap your head around that. Thanks for that info.
@@chrisolson968 Absolutely, my pleasure. I saw him here in Philly in October 2018 and he talked about his health issues. He said he had bad back surgery which caused him to unfortunately not be able to grip drum sticks anymore. He also shared he had club foot from a fall (which I think was from drinking). He was a heavy drinker which didn't help, but he's supposedly sober. He was absolutely incredible when I saw him. His voice is still great. I don't care if he has to sit or lay down, Id see him again! And watching his son on the drums is awesome. Happy Holidays my man!
@@lfh1973 please don't compare 80's music to the 60's & 70's.. to do so is an embarrassing statement. The Blues (Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf etc) were the foundation for ROCK N ROLL's Chuck Berry, The Beatles, Stones, Hendricks, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc..Welcome to WOODSTOCK! SMH
I have read through the comments and read what you all have to say. I saw genesis at Wembley stadium, Phil playing with Eric Clapton at the royal albert hall and much besides. Seeing Phil sat in a chair on stage is heartbreaking. I am aware of his medical issues. He should be at home taking care of himself. God bless ya Phil.
God bless you, Mr. Collins. Still kicking it up there on stage against all odds (yeah, pun intended). A true warrior and legend. Thank you for decades of great music!!
I have loved this song since the Video 1st played all those decades ago. My real, then real. Bless those who found there own. The world doesn't need heroes. The world needs people.
This Song is Now more True than EVER ! Phils is one of my favourite Singers so Talented and unique and Genesis were really ahead of their time,Phil still shows some awesome Vocals despite his illness.God bless him and everyone Listening.
@@jefftaylor844 Phil Collins was a decent pop act, but one of the greatest vocalists of all time? ? What are you smoking? He's not in the top 500 mate.
Phil and Genesis was the soundtrack of my youth and continues to this very day at the age of 48. The voice is still powerful and unique in spite of his medical issues. Thank you so much to Phil and the rest of the band for getting out there and doing this. Much love to you all.
They were the soundtrack of my youth too. They were the first band I knew n=by name. My parents has a VHS tape with a bunch of their music videos and I couldn't tell you how many times I've watched it. I must've drove my parents crazy.
I love Phil Collins, both with Genesis and without. Such a talented, talented man! The only thing that makes me sad is that I didn't get to go see him.
Oh my God... One of my greatest Idols, the pop icons... Sad to see him like that... But still, this voice I would recognise anytime, anywhere... All the best Phil, Genesis 4ever ❤❤❤
@@solcastro9279 You are right. Genisis is a Legend. I wasn't Quite sure if all of those musicians were original Genisis members or not that were playing that night. This is why I worded it the way I did. I meant no dis-respect. Peace -Out!
I love you Phil, still doing your thing no matter what. Still doing what made so many people fall in love with you and admire you. You're the greatest artist of all time!!!
One of my favorite multi-instrumentalist. Phil was nice on the drums, but he does not receive enough credit for his one-man talents. Love his solo work and work with Genesis.
Hearing the song like this is a bittersweet moment…the world’s not the same as it was in ‘85, and neither are Genesis, especially Phil. Somehow this all comes together to be a perfect representation of these imperfect times. I fear we won’t have them all around much longer…cherish every moment.
The thing is he's not that old he's 70. My dad runs half marathons and he's 74. Phil Collins looks like he's 95, sadly. Perhaps Phil hasn't taken care of himself over the years.
As a 42, almost 43 year old, I grew up with Genesis and Phil Collins in the 80's and 90's. I can remember Phil being such a big celebrity and larger than life in the 80's, jet-setting across the pond and back on the Concorde. I still listen to Genesis and Phil Collins occasionally to this day, but it makes me sad to see and hear this video. In a way I'm glad they're still active, but the voices aren't anywhere near what they used to be. And to see Phil sitting in a chair singing, slightly off-key or off-pace? I'd almost just like to remember them they way they were. I saw a free Van Halen concert a few years ago where I live, and it was some of the same feeling
Don’t know what you are listening to but I am listening to a shitty quality recording you tube video, you can hardly expect studio recording quality on this forum.Phil Collins could sing into a galavanised bucket and sound brilliant and not “slightly of key or off pace ”.I suggest you listen to it again.Phil Sounds as good today as he did in the 80s.Willie Nelson is another example of having it past his expected sell by date.On the other hand I have heard Bob Dylan’s singing described as singing like a frog or a duck with the last 30 years eventhough he is still classed as a living legend.I am a fan of Bob Dylan but his voice has completely changed over the last couple of decades.
Phil Collins is so amazing for going out there like that. This is the bravest thing I've ever seen a musician do. And he's still got all the charisma from back in the day. You go Phil Collins. You are an incredible talent, and you will never be forgotten.
I love Phil. His music moved me for decades. Amazing talent and musician but I simply can’t watch him this way. I caught first minute are so, just enough to hear him sing….he sounds great
What a legend Phil Collins actually is. To have still gone out with the band and preformed with such heart even though he’s the age he is and struggling with health issues is actually inspiring. He’s no need to do it, his life’s been set for ages. But he wanted to do it and in my opinion smashed it out the park. He still sounds good as well, not in this prime but still really good ! Iv seen so many fully fit and able “singers” of the modern age that can’t even be bother to sing and just track it. This guy tho at over 70 is still open mic full commitment and hitting it hard, no shortcuts Absolute champion
Love you, Phil. Fan from the 70's when Peter Gabriel was still with Genesis. I seen you in concert in 1976 after Gabriel had left. It was amazing. You ran between to drum kits and it was so cool. The sound was excellent. Loved Face Value and still play that full album every so often.
not me, it makes me very happy to see he's pushing himself to still put a show on for the fans despite his health, and its a such a wonderful thing to see his son absolutely crush it on the drums. arent you also happy to see tony and mike up there?
Love this band! They've been my favorite since I was 6 or 7 years old! Hats off to Phil for getting out there and doing this tour! He's not what he used to be but it's so awesome that he's out there giving it his all for his Son, Mike, Tony, Daryl, and fans!
Mon Phil, cette chanson c'est mon enfance bon sang qui m'a fait te connaître, t'admirer, t'aimer ! Tu la chantés encore, quel bonheur !!! Merci Phil, longue vie à toi mon Philou 😘🥰😍🤩❤️♥️❣️💋
