So lovely to see darling Phil looking so well. It makes me so sad to see him nowadays looking so frail. What a great musician and a great man God bless him xx 💙
Have seen Genesis a couple of times over the last 30 years (and Phil solo too) and it's sad to see how much he has deteriorated in the last 16 years...
It was quiet because this was one of the early performances in the day because they were playing Manchester Old Trafford later in the day as part of their 2007 tour.
Not really sure why Darryl and Chester are only classed touring musicians when both had been with Genesis for about 30 years. Really should be recognized more as both are great musicians
This is why Chester can’t stand Phill anymore. Choosing anic was the final straw. Glad I didn’t went to that tour they should never have done in the first time. 2007 was the best goodbye.
Sometimes I think that Tony put as much as he could into Genesis in part because his solo albums did not get loads of recognition ( unlike the other members. Steve Hackett and Antony Phillips being most... prolific, Mike and Phil being most commercially successful ).
I've always loved Genesis, from the first album on through. I saw them in concert three times; and a fourth if you include Phil's First Final farewell Tour. And now in 2024 I find myself every once in a while needing to see them again. Needing especially to see a healthy and vital Phil on drums where he always belonged. mmmm
I have Rush Limbaugh to thank for me finding this song- he played the intro to this in his bumper music rotation for years. Made me search it out & find out what song it was.
💙 "One of the BEST British bands ever!!" DARN RIGHT!!!💙👏💙👏 Love seeing Phil still playing drums, and Chester too!😍🥁 Turn it On Again is one of my faves!👍 I have to admit it was surprising that there were so many empty sections though😮😮😮...what the heck people? Was it a Thursday morning concert???🤔🤔🤔 "Always" 💙 and thanks 👑 Phil and Genesis🥰 True Blue Alllwaaays 💙
the best and fast version was in 3 sides live :) but good to see them with a good image. They were not a lot of people in this new stadium and we can see that they have like 2 mini drum kits :) vs before
It is wonderful to see Phil at the drums for this ( even if it is not his usual "full kit" ). Great video! Sometimes I wonder why the producers, promoters, Wembley staff and administration did not let the audience build larger before the "live broadcast" started? ( because the start time for this Live8 show was well known in advance ) Thanks for posting this! Wish Live8 had.
I love Genesis. I even saw them live for the We Can't Dance tour. My only grievance with this version of Turn It On Again is the lack of the bass guitar that brings the song ALIVE on the studio version.
Hate to be a geek, but the opening track is not behind the lines but Dukes end, which has the 'behind the lines' riff in it but is at the end of the duke album....
Genesis was the first band to play at Live Earth at Wembley because they had to fly to Old Trafford Manchester for a evening concert , which I went too.
I saw Genesis in Belgium in 2007 (they were touring at the time of this) and the stadium was not more than 80% full, strange. They were brilliant as you'd expect, the acoustics of the stadium were awful sadly.
Phil is quoted as saying its the worst audience they've played to in years. Suppose being the opening band didn't help, and I noticed a lot of the crowd are shocked when Phil strides out front, as if they didn't realise Phil Collins was in Genesis lol...
Great show but I hate being 200 feet away and still be in the front row !!! Thats why I go to small gigs in pubs and clubs. Phil looks quite well here , lately he is really showing his age
This looks like it could have been filmed in 2023/2024. Sad how badly Phil has deteriorated since then. This was really their last tour.....A sad end to one of the greatest bands
Dude, everybody deteriorates. The guy is phenomenally wealthy and thousands paid good money to see them even though he couldn't stand or hardly sing. That sounds like a pretty happy ending to me.
2007 was the best final tour. Glad I went. To bad they stole the money so only the artists and organisation got rich out of this. Stadium should have been even more empty than it was here in hind-sight 😂
True. It is sorrowing to hear about Phil having health problems ( including the degenerative neurological condition partly caused by his drumming and manic work over the years ). Genesis wrapped up with the concerts that started two years ago. It is a shame to see Genesis end ... but we still have Steve Hackett doing their songs, and Mike + The Mechanics are going to play Genesis songs with Nick Collins on drums in coming concerts!
I noticed this as well. But, maybe it is because they were the "opening act". Usually production on "live broadcast" shows like this wait till a full crowd is present. Looks odd, tho ..
