The thing with politic is that everything works if the people involved are good enough at their job. And it is so complicated that most forms of government need to be studied on a case by case basis.
Heizou might be a cop, but his hangouts all involve lying to the cops and interfering with police duties in order to protect people from the consequences of authoritarian power, like when he allowed smuggling to fight a famine or letting a case go unsolved to protect a man's conscience. That combined with the fact that he only became a cop to fix a case about his friend that the cops got wrong implies that he's not naturally very authoritarian, and he's really only working for the authorities due to personal circumstances. He's not the farthest down, but he's surprisingly anti-authoritarian for a pig. (Also he calls Aether "dreamy" so he's way too bi to go that far right.)

Nahida's government reforms to send aid to and support the people in the desert with community and knowledge programs should mean she's a little more up into the authorian-left area yeah, plus Sumeru has free health care funded by the government which Nahida hasn't changed, and since the Archon quest she seems to be part of the institution since people are encouraged to pray to her in the healthcare system
True but at the same time she reduces the authority by getting rid of the Akasha terminal and the need for aid is partially to blame on sumeru for guarding the wall in the first place I agree she would be slightly authoritarian though but her position is so new and complicated, it’s hard to say exactly

@@mavisseafoam i'm not sure I could go that far, only because in her story quest *spoilers if you haven't done them* she does intervein against the wishes of her people to live in their dreams. and while she obviously has good reason to do so, she is still using her position and power to prevent them from making their own decisions. That is why I think she may lean slightly into authoritarian. But of all the gods she is by far the most capable of controlling her people, and given that I think the restraint she shows puts her very close to the center.
Honestly, I think Raiden went from hard-ish right to closer to center/center-left through her SQ. Her original ideal is eternity through stagnation - basically every conservative's dream. But she changed her view to what Makoto believed - that change is inevitable and that true eternity is achieved through transience and what matters about the nation is people (as both collective and individuals).
She still value a lot tradition and is very individulist perdsonality wise. I don't see her come up with social reform for her people for exemple so being center/center left i strongly argue.
@Primm eh. Maybe. I mean, leftists don't think that traditions are inherently bad, more like "we should value people over traditions and let bad and harmful ones die." And Raiden is kind of at that point in her current views. She still isn't left, she wouldn't implement changes herself, but def closer to the center and would let other people move forward.

The problem with the political compass is that everyone in every position tends to reframe it around their own views, making their side look more positive and others look more negative. The creators have taken criticism for having a lib-left bias in some of their questions, and Zajef is kind of doing the same thing here from a more auth-left position, since that's his position. Authoritarianism is not "when the government does stuff", it's when the government imposes laws and restrictions and forces the PEOPLE to do stuff. Nahida as a person is the opposite of authoritarian.

For example, answer this question. Would Kazuha kill Traveler (who is considered to be "good guy/girl" and Kazuha's close friend) if he sees some benefits of it for Inazumans? If the answer is "yes", than he's left. But I'm confirmed that the answer will be "no".
Xiao would definitely be low authoritarian (Its not he doesnt like the qixing but he would prefer Zhongli in power more than them for sure) and moderate to extreme left Edit:- as shown in game xiao doesn't really have a problem with the current status quo in Liyue or in general whoever leads the nation thats why I think he isn't super authoritarian like Sara and he is least interested in interfering in the life of people
I think for Xiao it's not that he supports the current state of things, but just that he doesn't care about it at all. Xiao is probably a centrist, because he doesn't really have opinions on most matters other than defending mortals from demons.
the way i wish you would'd do this with like a character lore nerd as a duo stream would SICKK tbh since they could just help list off actions of characters instead of just getting info from chat. I enjoyed this video quite a bit. Thanks for this. I really enjoyed the discussion on Zhongli and the Church of Favonius in particular Zhongli believes strictly in contracts and orderly society. He deeply supports the Qixing's authoritarian rule over Liyue. I would go so far as his tested faith in their ability to decide what is best for Liyue is what proved to him that he could retire. Nearly all conversations that include him place all members in the conversation in a hierarchy. I would say that he is even more authoritarian than Ningguang, but I would agree that is is closer to center than her. The Church of Favonius is a fun concept in Genshin. It is really too bad that they use the word "church" to describe it, and design the building of worship as they did. This all screams Catholic vibes. But it couldn't be further from the truth of this religion. It seem far more like an ancient Greek temple of a god like Eleutheria. I'm no expert here, but this would have been a place of dedication to living as one should. Not because anyone tells you to nor just as you please. I think the Church of Favonius embodies this. It is ok to let people to makes mistakes, but I also think that the live as you should would lean to the left. That there is some level of: you still have to care about society more than ones self. An example I can call out is from a commission from one of the nuns in the Church (for lack of a better title). She hires the Traveler to check up on someone's alcoholism. It's ok to get drunk, but it isn't ok for getting drunk to harm harm to society. Yet, there are no laws. No one should be forced. So absolutely fully lib, but left leaning.
The Cathedral wasn't actually the Church of Favonius's doing. That's just a palace from the aristocracy days that they just repurposed into a place of worship.

Ayato is a hard one because his story quest only hint to what he does . He is basicly loyal to inazuma not to the shogun . He have a special force that only report to the kamisato clan and he use it to opperate from the shadow to protect inazuma . He played major role againt fatui moovement in inazuma . And supported the reblion against the shogun

Eh, I would put Childe less right. I feel like he's individualistic on personal level, but does believe in community good. He didn't particularly like "let's drown liyue to get to morax" plan even if he followed it anyway, he isn't fond of "strong have right to harm the weak" even if he does so. Probably still on the right, just. Maybe not as far right.

It's not really surprising that the people here would share the same views as his; the Genshin fandom does feel predominantly left-winged. But the sheer amount of cringe I felt when he said that left-winged people are the people who like to help others, and right-winged people are there due to selfish reasons... I lamented. HARD.
Barbara is absolutely left - I think you're getting misled by the aesthetic of the church rather than it's beliefs or Barbara's own beliefs and motivations. Some Barbara quotes: "Everyone has their own desires. To bring together and fulfill those desires and make everyone happy - that is the purpose my Archon has bestowed upon me." "I want to heal everyone. This simple thought was all the motivation I needed to become a Deaconess. As long as I'm able to help everyone, I'll be content." "The smiles on the faces of the people I've helped keeps me going." While these quotes aren't explicitly political, they show that her underlying motivations very well, and they come from a place of wanting to uplift others rather than for her own personal benefit, making her much more in-line with the left given the definitions you went with at the start of the video. The first quote in particular shows how the religion is aligned with this: it implies a tolerant attitude, and a belief that all these different desires can coexist in harmony, so it seems unlikely that the religion has all the misogynistic and homophobic baggage that most real life religions do (though the part where you said she seems like she says slurs was hilarious 😂). I think she's also libertarian since she seems aligned with the value of freedom that Mondstadt and her church represents.

I feel like he has also undermined the Tsaritsa with the traveller though. I'm with Zajeff in that Childe seems to have realized he has his own motivations and he is moving slightly farther away from the Tsaritsa's influence.
i think yae is much more left and less authoritarian, she is authoritarian but less than raiden or sara. i also think kazuha would be slightly more right but i will absolutely hear arguments for it. i think ayaka is also slightly more right

i think he is the most wasted potential character of the game. The "erase his existence" was such a lazy move to make him playable and able to join the future events, and that is what makes him boring.

I think Tartaglia's case showed us perfectly that being a criminal doesn't really stopped HV from putting him in the events. So I believe this decision was for the sake of the character's overall theme, not convience

She was practically forced into that position considering the predicament she was in and states her constant apprehension in taking over their bodies so I dunno if I'd count that for her political standing but I agree with auth left for sure.
Communism was defined incorrectly in this video. Communism is a form of economy, not a form of government. For example, Marxism calls for a Democratic government to be used with a Communist economy. He also states that the end goal of Communism is that it should lead to perfect Anarchy because any power structure will lead to other seeking authority over each other. So communism, in its pure sense, is bottom left corner. Now that said, Communism in practice can vary just as heavily as Capitalism. Chinese Communism does use a more (though not maxed out) authoritarian government. It is probably closer to what Communism was described to be in this video.
Communism is more authoritarian than Socialism, since Socialism is similar, but people actually do into deciding what is free for all and what requires work. (The latter leans more capitalist, but socialism is more about the necessities while communism is about everyone getting the same thing.)

In its purest form, Communism means that all things are owned equally by all people. In a pure (Anarchistic) Communism (wave the red and black flag), there is zero authoritarianism. The designed purpose of Communism is to shift the culture of a society towards Democracy (generally rating on the Authoritarian the scale but designed to be lower than Monarchies and other governments that were common when Communism was invented) and continue the path towards perfect Libertarianism. So depending on where a society is on that journey or how it has corrupted Communism, it can rate anywhere from top to bottom on this compass.

I think Venti’s rule over Mondstadt with kinda forced ancap but not really. Like, there can be goverment with overwhelming power over others, and it can be there for houndreds of years, but once there is a complete monopoly on power (state starts to exist), Venti acts as a force of nature to help people break it. Also, it’s funny how at the first character, you explained problem with PC, which is that many idiologies (like ancap) don’t really fit and you have to redefine left and right (as left = state and right = no state for example) to really have a way to fit it in there, but then there is a problem that a lot of political parties that define themselves and are ususally defined as left/right would not fit there anymore.

I feel like Zhongli is not actually capitalist. In Rex Incognito it’s shown he’s advocated for worker’s rights at the expense of their employers (literally stealing from business owners because they weren’t paying their workers enough), and as Rex Lapis he regulated the economy pretty strictly. Frankly I would put him center or slightly auth leaning left.

What's the difference between Wanderer and Scaramouche? At the end of his story quest its stated that he's regained all his memories and he's just Scaramouche with a different outfit basically, he's extreme right and authoritarian obviously.

yeah scaramouche and wanderer are the same person but scaramouche evolved to have a different outlook on things. The name wanderer is there to symbolize his evolution as a person so even though they have the same personality, their views differ.

Why is Mond the only region with religion? There are no other other churches in other nations and why they should have if they just know/see their god everyday. Also is every nation consider to be religious if the only nation which was atheist was Khaenriah?
I would argue that inazuma has a religion, the shogun/ei. They literally just pray to her and in return they get protection. That's why yae is head shrine Maiden For mondstadt, the church ( I believe) was founded after venti got power and it was to return the favor of freeing them from decaredon( idk how to spell his name, God of storms). During the Aristocrat era, they actually took away some of the church traditions and tore down the venti statue. If I'm giving my honest opinion on mondstadt reglion, I would say it's quite like cultural Christians, they don't most of things like attending church but will participate in other things like festivals or observe religious holidays. We see from venti SQ, that Stanley says " I've always believed " so some people in mondstadt don't believe in venti but probably still partake in traditions that honor venti, and by proxy freedom... so like most countries with a Christian influence. I hope that's not too confusing to understand
liyue and inazuma have shrines and temples instead but there is a religion everywhere, ppl pray to rex lapis and the adepti for example, and idk if people in inazuma pray to the shogun but many ppl sure believe in her authority a 100%
After the Cataclysm, Nahida basically _let_ herself get captured because it was the will of the people. Over the course of the Archon Quest, she became more willing to stand up for herself, which could be seen as drifting upwards, but is still generally more hand-off than hands-on. Remember that she _is_ a child more interested in learning about the world than directly acting upon it. Given the whole concept of Freedom, it'd feel weird to have _any_ Anemo character being above center. Venti is not just as Libertarian as possible, but he's practically the god of that entire side of the axis.
One i missed the placement for but can understand why zajeff didnt place is Ganyu (also slightly because of personal bias) id put her in the same spot you placed Ayato in maybe a bit higher in the Authoritarian/Right axis but not much. Shes a devote follower of Rex Lapis who as we established invented money and capitalism. On top shes an Employee of the State and probably likes her job (her job is a major part of her) on top of not showing signs of being against Authority either. With her being very fucking old and raised by and even older being she is probably also rather traditional in her views. Im unsure if her wanting to fit in with society (which is the main plot of her story quest) is an argument for either left or right wing but its something (if applicable) worth considering

He tries to not harm as many people as possible even if they're not the greatest people (and by extension, tries to stop people from being harmed or becoming the victims of crime). He can be quite selfish for trying to abide by this, but at the end of the day he's being stubborn on... trying to keep people safe. Idunno that just doesn't sound too self-centered to me, but everyone has their different interpretations. Also, his way of looking at criminals as being people being corrupted by an outside force is something you typically see from the left rather than the right, imo.
Not so sure about the Yoimiya one; sure, she’s compassionate and kind but she reveres the Shogun, has ties to Tenryou, and doesn’t seem to ever criticise the hierarchal structure of Inazuman society. Although, if I’m mistaken, I’d like to hear why
a simple way to understand left and right is that the left values more equality and egalitarianism, while the right values more hierarchy and consolidation of power. this is why the right is more associated with authoritarianism since it naturally begets a hierarchy, and the left more often with libertarianism since it naturally begets more freedom. the opposite is also possible, but much rarer. you can absolutely have authoritarian left - this is what we saw in communist nations like the USSR and North Korea - everyone is equal under a dictator. you can absolutely also have libertarian right - this is an unregulated free market economy, whereby a hierarchy is absolutely in place, but there's perfect freedom.
