Fantastic! Vibraphone player here. You did a superb job recording this old Deagan. Though I have my own vibes, it will still be great to have this. Thanks!
@@JonMeyer It sounds great without the resonators or vibrato. A lot players play this way as well, without vibrato that is. Your attention to the tone detail really comes through in the sound. I have not sampled my own vibes, only recording with it on tracks and live playing. I recently joined pianobook and enjoying the exploration there. I may someday learn and contribute an instrument there.
New to pianobook, but glad to see you here. Loved your studio tour I saw months ago, and appreciate your attention to film and sound quality. You seem like a cool dude. Thanks for these labors.
I'm not hearing any of the "butterfly valve" tremolo / vibrato here, and the instrument (atop a groovy armchair) doesn't seem to have them, nor room for the pedal which turns them on and off. Am I crazy?
You are correct. I only have access to the part of the instrument shown in the video. Perhaps in future updates I will set up the sustain to behave more like a piano and add tremolo and vibrato effects, but for now I was mostly interested in capturing the sound of the instrument with mics up close and played softly.
I want to hear more from the one person who gave you a thumbs down! I mean, no doubt this was a very controversial release. There is so much here to be angry about.
