On the EFI bike wouldn't matter... if the battery is dead you ain't going anywhere

I wouldn't. Use a socket wrench instead. A regular drill will spin it and you'll tear fins off with those channel locks.

I can't say for sure because they were both old rental scooters. The old ones weren't in bad shape but since I was already changing the variator weights I went ahead and put on new belts. Usually when belts are really bad shape they are brittle and have teeth missing so they will slip.

Depends on which part. The weights, depending on what gram you use can either give your scooter a higher top speed or faster acceleration. Heavier weights give you more top end speed. The weights control how fast the scooter shifts. So the lite weights will create faster acceleration but will significantly bring down tops speeds. Some people mix weights. I like to stay around 7-7.5 grams because I live on an island with a top speed of 35mph max. So acceleration is better and even still I max out at a top speed of around 40mph. Now the shim I took out of the grey scooter was added in by the rental company I bought it from to reduce top speed down to somewhere around 30-35 mph. I didn't realize it was there. That shim spun with the belt and raised it. Just by removing the shim without changing anything would have made the scooter reach a much higher top speed. Prob around 40-45 mph with 7.5 weights on flat ground.

I should say that heavier weights will slow your acceleration speeds. So need to find that good in-between weight for decent acceleration and decent top speed.

I usually order everything from Scooter Dynasty, they switch up brands so may not be available any longer.

Im running the stock clutch with 1500rpm springs and an NCY bell its finally breaking in running nice

@@speedyme200 if it was going to hurt the electrical system then they wouldn't build them to be able to run without a battery. The pocket batteries they added to scooters and mopeds are for convenience only.

@@flipflopmech some things won't function properly without a battery brake light turn signal gas gauge and oil warning light.. even the stator and the voltage regulator won't like it.. electrical load need a batt.. why risk it but do what yall want ain't my bike..

@@speedyme200 everything has always worked like normal on the scooters I've owned. I rolled the odometer over on a Honda metro 2 at least a handful of times before I bought these genuines, without a battery since I bought it used from a scooter rental company. Ran that thing for 8 years everyday and it was a fuel pumped 4 stroke. Ran that Honda so many miles the plastics on it got brittle from that Florida sun and blew away with the wind lol. Finally got to where it wasn't worth throwing parts at anymore and I guess you could say upgraded to genuine but that little metro just rode great and was quiet compared to these 2 cycles. Never had exhaust issues on that Honda like these either. Little rust pin holes pop up randomly on these, got more j.b. weld steel stick than metal at this point.
