I don't think I have heard you giggle so much while doing the narration in a long time! I am glad you are having so much fun with the new molds and experimenting!
it's not like turning, there are no tool noises I can speed up, I either talk or it's dead quiet, my uncomfortable giggle is because I didn't know what to say, LOL Thanks again for watching JoAnn
Wow, Doug it's amazing watching you design the geodes. I love how the resin shapes up. I really liked the dark green colour and then the white on top and then in the middle it looked white at first with the green all around the edge. It's so amazing how different it came out after. Thanks for sharing, you guys did a great job! PS Thanks for the shout out!!
You could use these molds for extra resin, then make a sort of geological layer project once you've got a bunch. Sort of like the planets, but in colorful layers instead of spheres!
They look great! my first coaster looked like that except blue! I cant believe you've never done geode coasters! Here are my tips and stuff.... If you want a more dramatic creeping effect you gotta use a bit more color than you did, like 1/3rd the distance in towards the center. the mica will work best for a feathery effect but they all should creep in. Then pour the clear in the center, it'll push the color and forces it out of the edges. the bottom of the piece is technically the top! And you can use glitter in the center too, mixed with a tiny bit of resin to make it pasty and dropped in the middle last.. and you 'dome' the resin in the mold, you can go all the way to just before the edge tension breaks, (remembering that it'll shrink a little when cured) so not to have to file the edges! I hope you do try it again, it's kind of satisfying imo. I like it a lot!!! A new to you project for the new year!
For a first try, they already look great. What I especially like is the color transition from dark to transparent. I'm just afraid that the brightest part will fade a bit to yellow over time. But it's nice to see that you know how to make a nice piece of art out of this too Doug. Happy New Year. 👍👍👍
Thank You Becky, I watched a few more video's on it and think I am going to go out and try it again, I really like the beach water and waves looking pours that are being done.

Thank You Margaret, we actually filmed one in purple, the Wife and I, I stepped aside and let her have a go at it, I still have to finish filming it so I can edit and put it up, LOL it's like starting all over again,
I started working with resin just before Christmas. The Crafters that do it UTube make it look so easy. Like everything, it just takes practice. And Doug, your geodes look better than what I tried to make. I think you did a good job.
I really need a lot more practice, I think we are going to do a day for other projects during the week, The Wife wants to do them too. Thanks again Tracey
That was a great first attempt! Mica powders seem to work better pulling into the center and metallic mica’s usually work great but, they can take over. You can add your center pieces after you’ve poured and just adjust them like you did, then you don’t have worry about displacing them while pouring in the middle. You’re right about doming, just look at it from the side with a light source behind it, that way you can fill them up enough to dome but, not over fill and have it spilling over. Then you don’t end up with that sharp edge. You can cut that edge off with an Exacto blade if you do it right away, before it sets up. Also a nail file works to sand it but, it will leave a dull edge, that can be covered up with a metallic marker around the edge and it gives it a nice finishing touch. I hope that helps😊 and made sense!😆
They look good, Doug. Very natural, which is usually more difficult than my colourful, tacky style. Which is why I got those ten colour shift powders. You can dry paint them right into a mold then fill with resin of your colour of choice. I did use them as a mix in mica and the results weren't outstanding. I'll share a story of the results on IG and tag you. Looking forward to more casting videos and your precision pouring.
I've got molds like those! Mine had serious issues with bubbles, but I'm a complete amateur, and I don't have a pressure pot. It was one of my first pours about two years ago, so I was still happy with the results, but you're starting from a much higher skill level, so it's no surprise that these look super cool!
I think they looked pretty neat tbh, it's really good with the colours only partially mixing. Definitely gives it depth and inner structure, will be fun to see you develop those a bitty. Onwards and upwards ... 😆 🤣 😂
I want to make coasters and make them glow in the dark a little bit, like at the edges so when you're watching a movie in dark and drinking soda, you see where to put your glass on🤗☺️ I have everything else but the mold, would like to get geode shape ones 👍Your are looking good!!
Hey Doug, a really great job for your first attempt. Keep on trying and I'm sure you'll get the hang of it. I tried geodes years ago but didn't put enough resin in my first ones, they were crap. Happy New Year to you and the Boss.
If you want to watch a good coaster how to check out Pouring Your Heart Out. She does really nice coasters. She has a lot of knowledge. I learned a lot from her. Watch her videos. They won't disappoint! You could also get a metallic silver marker and go around the outer edge of the coasters. That would set your center off. Blooming resin which I believe is what you are after can be a bit tricky. There are definitely does and don'ts you need to know. She can help you with that by watching her coaster videos. Beautiful greens. Love them.
Always looking forward to your videos Doug. You mentioned air pockets. You once mentioned there is moisture in metals...did you take that into account and dry them?
they were glass, the air pocket were formed by the uv resin that did not set up due to the glass blocking the light from getting to the bottom. Thanks again Morgan
I wonder if they would have more of swirl your looking for if you do the acrylic paint pour method where you start pouring the “outside” colors in the center(the dark green, then light green, then white) then follow up with the clear (still in the center) until you have the volume you want?
Those look nice, Doug. The resin master attempts to conquer another challenge. I bet you didn't know how to behave without resin ribbons all over the place. Bill
