I have watched this game 3 times in full length. And have seen the highlights 100 times over, but my heart still breaks into pieces when I see Oliver Kahn's face but then my heart light's up with joy when I see R9 and R11's buck-toothed smiles.

Germany honestly did very well in this match to hang in there as long as they did. They were totally outclassed by all the legends on the Brazil squad and didn't have Ballack.

I miss this long shots on goal, long free kicks on goal Now a days they wont even try too shot long until they get inside the box and even if they shoot a long it is always up in the air.

2002 first time i watched football WC Because of this legend ronaldo..he was the only reason i started waching football..but at that time i did'nt know about his injuries. even so i thought he is the best. after knowing that then i realized he definitely a legend. No other player can do it like him. If he had not faced injury problems we can't even imagine the level he is in today....best player of all time... legend..🐐 "phenomenon"💪

This was my first WC and I still remember it vividly -- the entire tournament, not just this game. I was 11 years old and living in Taiwan, so the combination of being at the right age to start watching sports and the tournament being close to home made it the first major international sports tournament that I ever payed close attention to. Looking back almost two decades later, I think this was indeed a special WC, from a number of surprising early exits (France, Argentina, Italy), Casillas's heroic performance v Ireland, Korea cheating their way to the semi-final, and the fastest ever goal in WC history, etc. to the abundance of dark horses (USA, Korea, Turkey, Senegal). But in the end, arguably the two best football nations made it to the final. All in all a wholesome WC viewing experience.

This Germany was the weakest to reach a World Cup but at the same time had the best Goalkeeper in Oliver Kahn. Klose and Ballack were honorable mentions

Imagine being Kahn in this match: You know that only thanks to your efforts a weak team has managed to enter the finals. You have held every possible ball but now, you have to face the first big football nation in the entire worldcup. And then.. you make this one mistake everybody will talk about for years. I know Brazil deserved to win this WC, but imagine Germany had won: Then Oliver Kahn would be the reason for their victory. Not because he scored the goals, but because he made sure the opponents didn't score ANY goals. And this absolutely incredible. For me, Oliver Kahn's solo performances were the greatest in the entire WC history. All Hail King Kahn!

I'm German and was in Italy after the WC. We were all wearing faked Brazil jerseys and played with Ronaldo/Ronaldinho/Rivaldo on our backs. The Brazil squad was just amazing and we, although we're Germans, became big "fans" of this side! 2006 and 2010 were much more bitter losses...
