I was in Brasil for this match. Being of German heritage, we bought German Jerseys to wear and all expected a good match. We were at a bar in Natal. Brazilians were all giving us a hard time at first and us back. The first goal we cheered and they were not happy, but we were in it to win it. By the third goal, we started feeling uncomfortable, no longer cheering. After the fourth goal we started to take the jersey's off thinking it was going to get a little sketchy but the Brazilians were unanimous, "Não, não, não os tire!" Don't take them off!. They said Germany is playing magnificently and this is nothing to hide. They were waaay more mad at the Brazilian team. At the end, they were even madder at the token goal they scored which at that point, they saw as undeserved. We wound up consoling them and there were lots of tears.
@deletebilderberg Yes, feelings are subjective. And I don't need your validation for them. Also, I have enough empathy for multiple things. Also, you're objectively wrong. The world has been becoming an overall better place in almost every aspect over many decades for now. So how about you keep your cynical questions to yourself and your useless piehole shut? 😊
I was on business trip in Romania and I saw the game live at a pub in Pitesti. I didn‘t understand the Romanian commentator what he was saying but every 2-3 minutes he was saying „Blitzkrieg“…“Blitzkrieg“😂😂😂
I remember coming back from work. As I walked through the front door, I asked my Dad the score and he goes ‘5-0’. I remember thinking ‘oh, Brazil are on 🔥!’ And then I heard ‘……to Germany’. Astonishing.
To add insult to injury, in this game Klose became the World Cups all time top scorer. Breaking the record of the Brazillian Ronaldo... and he was an anouncer at this match!
I don't think brazilians cared for personal glory tbh but yeh he was a commentator for this game and there's a pic of him. He looked mad at what was going on.
He was at fault for not properly marking Müller for the first goal, he was the captain and defensive leader, yet he didn't face a lot of criticism. I will never understand that.
Even in Germany we just celebrated the first three goals, then we were just as stunned as the Brazilians. In the second half we really felt sorry for Brazil and its wonderful people. We were the party crashers back then, but after loosing a final against Brazil (2002) and two semifinals against Italy on our home turf (2006) and Spain in South Africa (2010), we also knew it was now or never for players like Klose, Schweinsteiger, Lahm and Podolski. And as we played against Brazils archrival Argentina, most Brazilians supported Germany in the final. What a glorious tournament for Germany. The last ten years were pretty tough though...
“Perhaps the pressure was just too much,” Loew said in an interview on the German football association (DFB) website when asked why Brazil had imploded in the first half when Germany scored five times. “The expectations on the team in their home country might have crippled them. We know all about that from our own experience in 2006,” he said, referring to Germany’s heart-breaking semi-final 2-0 loss to Italy.
Also the loss of their two most important players had destroyed that team, Neymar was only successful offensive player and Thiago Silva was the heart of their defense. They lost those two against Colombia and the team just melted without them
That was just a diplomatic way to not say Brazil never had a chance. They were lucky until the semi-final but lost Neymar in the quarterfinal and thus their only chance. Germany in 2006 was completely different because it was a team at the beginning of their journey coming from a knock-out in the group stage at the Euros 2004. You could see Germany was building up a golden generation. Brazil had one superstar, a few players close to or over their peak and lots of mediocre players who never amounted to anything great in their career like Oscar who went to China in his 20s.
@@thiccchungo1041 Germany also didn't have Reus and others. Reus was Germany's most important player and got injured just before the world cup. Reus back then was even better than Naymar
And the legends tell Schürrle was taking a dump during that talk from Löw to the team, and that's why he decided to take a dump on Brazil with two more goals. And yes. The best moment when you can tell they were holding back was when Özil won the one-on-one with Julio Cesar but kicked it and the ball barely passed the goal post. They had other chances as well, when they were in Brazil's box but only passed the ball around instead of shooting. And, to be fair to Brazil, they only scored one but it wasn't for a lack of trying. Neuer was on God Mode that game, stopped shots that would have been goals against everyone else, and it was a miracle his fuel run out before the end of the game to allow Oscar's "we're not going blank" goal.
@@chotaire If you mean the whole thing with Schürrle being in the bathroom, that's why I say "the legends tell". But it is true Löw did have a talk to the team and, in short, told them to not embarrass them even further
@@branlopgar And that's also not true. You're just repeating the same stuff, leaving out Schürrle. Use the Internet and find out what Löw said himself about this "legend".
@@chotaire So i went through a couple of news and what is said that Löw said that they should still play strong and not act arogant only because its 5:0. Yet he does not want to humiliate the Brazilians since they were so nice up until now and we germans know ourselfes how awefull it is to lose in your home country (2006) So where exactly do you take it...germany didnt push it further? I can clearly read the 5:0 is plenty, don't make this country riot.
@@IAmTheStig32 Yeah But Brazil left this world cup with a lifetime scar Germany is not good anymore because many key players didn't play at the 2018 world cup anymore But this will never be forgotten even if germany never plays good again
@@IAmTheStig32you really think Germany has lost more than Brazil did this game? Brazil has declined to a mediocre team because of this World Cup humiliation
Their problems started long before when they sold the rights to the National team selection to outside corporations. They haven’t had a quality squad since 2002 and that’s mostly because they’ve stopped developing real substantive talent. They only develop samba dancers with fancy hairstyles now.
As A German I can say I thought I would never feel bad when my team is winning, but that changed that day I felt sorry for the Brazilians. Not just what happened but that it was in there home world cup
@@ecolearningyt quite ecstatic Just Like before the TV Screen but also still empathetic with the away crowd. Brazil is not to be destroyed like that and never will be again for the next century.
didnt spain get eliminated in the group stage that world cup? 2010-2012 spain was scary, but the same happened to them what happened to post 2014 germany
The only goal that even comes close (and it's no where as significant) was Messi's ooener vs Alaves in 2019. It was 3 days after Liverpool. He and the team looked like he had lost the game while "celebrating".
Now here in Brazil we have the slang "7x1" to indicate when we are back in any topic (education, security, corruption) "Everyday we got a different 7x1"
Basically, every world cup from 2006 onwards has been the same for Brazil. Easy group which guarantees they move to the next phase. They win the next match where they play against a team that qualified in second place. Then they lose to a European team in the quarter or semi finals.
@@tumtum6935not the same That game was a close one but Germany humiliated them in their own home in a semifinal and they weren’t even trying in the last 50 minutes
Nobody in Germany had dreamed of / anticipated or hoped for 7 goals against Brasil in Brasil in a semifinal. We hoped for a victory of course - but everybody thought it would be a close - a very close and tough game for our team….
That was Lewa basically shitting on Pep's theory that he can dominate with no centre-forwards and just tiki-taka. You would think he learned his lesson but it took him another 7-8 years to finally give in and make Haaland the main point of attack. Remember, this is the coach who rejected a prime Zlatan.
@@Steffan1970 that is indeed a fun fact. Bonus: "if I had any trouble guarding Ronaldo? To be honest I have more trouble defending my son." - Dante after the first leg when Wolfsburg won 2-0 Vs Real Madrid.

I was at a public viewing event and they were giving out one free beer per person for each goal After the fourth or fifth goal they just decided to give out beer for free for the rest of the day lol Half the village was drunk out of their minds Good times
Yeah they didn’t need to try, that’s exactly why Oscar was allowed to score in the dying minutes, the Germans had beaten Brazil so thoroughly and Brazil had such a pathetic attack that day the German defense was literally walking back while Oscar was dribbling his heart out in the box and got that lucky goal
This is one of those matches you’ll always remember where you saw it. The feeling of sadness was just incredible. And I didn’t care who won. I just wanted to see a great match. It was truly an emotional game.
Wir waren in der Kneipe und ein Kumpel meinte nach jedem Deutschland Tor nen Jägermeister zu trinken. Die zweite Halbzeit habe ich nicht mehr mitbekommen. 😅😅😅
As a Germany fan I was ecstatic until I saw the Brazil fans I felt so bad for them when Brazil fans cheered after Germanys 7th goal I got teary eyed I was witnessing something special
All German players were VERY talented, technicaly and tacticaly. This myth of German disciplined runners only, was possibly true in the fifties of the 20th century.🤨
The german side was far more talented than the brazilian one. Brazil had Neymar and Thiago Silva. One was injured and the other suspended. The rest was mediocre at best.
That second half was so sad man. You could tell Germany was holding back and Brazil were just playing to save face. The tears of the people in the crowd, the face-painted Brazil flag being washed away, the hung faces, shit really felt like a national tragedy
Nonsense.. The most common thing you see in such one sided games, that at some point the players stop celebrating because it's not worth much to score the 6th or 7th goal
@@user-ve7hn2dh8h Well in this case it wasn't only about sportsmanship 'cause if they didn't there would've been a riot. That was the home turf of Brazil national team.
@@MaestorRasanen I know it was the home turf of the bra national team obviously.. And no, there wouldn't have been a riot if they celebrated. All the anger was directed inwards. Like I said, if you ever won a sports contest in a very one sided manner, you would know that it's much less of an euphoric feeling if you score, compared to, let's say, you score the deciding goal
I think it's cringe. If you score goals and win you have to celebrate because I think it's more disrespectful if you don't do that. You take pity on your opponent and not being taken serious is way worse than losing really bad.
The German team could possibly have scored more goals, but at half-time the coach asked his team to exercise restraint because the game was won anyway and they shouldn't humiliate Brazil any further.
I was supporting Germany in 2014 and couldn't believe my eyes. Brazil were 0-5 down in 25 mins and the whole stadium was crying. I was happy that Germany was going through but a part of me was also sad for Brazil. THAT is the impact Brazilian football has on all fans and to see them getting destroyed in their home is just unimaginable.

They didn’t assume shit. If anything the team morale was dead in the waters when they knew they weren’t going to have Silva and a Neymar for the Semi-final.
England fan. Watched this is a German bar in Tenerife and wanted Germany to win. Best atmosphere in a bar ever and German fans were so friendly when they realised I was supporting them.
I remember seeing this live with a bunch of friends when I was in Mexico. By the end of the game all our jaws were on the floor. One of the best teams in the world just completely annihilated with little to no effort. We were all wondering whether the Brazilian team were bought off. But then again Germany was playing amazingly well. What an historic day that was. No other game so far was as insane as that one.
What? Brazil wasn't the best team at that point. They certainly weren't the favourites of winning the cup. In fact there was quite a big group who thought Brazil wouldn't survive the group stage. And tbh Brazil were quite lucky and there were some disputable decisions by the refs.
4chan still has a banner dedicated to the loss, showing a Brazilian anime girl with the flag as her shirt with a German man with the German flag as her shirt giving her the business.
I was in Brazil when i, as a portuguese, saw portugal lose to Germany 4-0, then they all shit on me, making fun of me pretty bad. Goodness, that game felt so good to watch
I was watching in a small cafe in Fiji. A lot of expatriate Germans and Europeans cheering at the start for Germany. By 5-0 the Germans were silent and the rest of the game were wincing at the remaining goals, one even whispered, "Please, enough." I think everyone in that case died a little at that.
This is sad because the old man was about to cry and if you know who this man is he’s a fan of Brazil for years and he appeared to all of the world cups Brazil went in .(Not all but most of them)

This is the Brazilian fan Clovis Fernandes. Yes, I also sympathised with him, it was his last big WC, he passed away in 2015. But he was also lucky enough to have been in the stadium for 2 WC victories of his beloved Brazil team in Pasadena 1994 and Yokohama 2002. And in 1970, as a 15-year-old, he was sitting safely in front of the TV when the Brazilians beat Italy 4-1 in a great match at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico and won the WC for the third time.
So not counting the respect the Brazilians have shown to the Germans the whole tournament which is held in Brazil Your not considering anything lmao Gotta think like a human not like some hardcore movie character which you trying to act like

People forget about this world cup that this was the first match that Germany was actually at full strength. They were sick the whole time because of the water in Brazil. They were so mad that everyone was saying Brazil was going to win cuz Brazil had such easy matches beforehand. It was such a crazy match to watch. I remember some of the German players wanted to score more and other ones did not want them to score. It was like Germany was playing against themselves at some point.
The fact that people actually cry over this joke of a sport...... Like i get it if you're a player. You've devoted your life and a shit load of hard work to this, so I get it there, but the fans? Man. You guys really need to find not only better shorts to watch, but take them less seriously. I don't care if you're mad. Cope harder.
I saw German fans cry after Italy scored twice at the last minute extra time. Everyone was thinking the match was going towards the shootout but that bubble burst at the last moment. I was hoping Germany will win the final at home but it was a nasty shock. This match kind off assuage that pain.
Everybody thought Germany will win a shootout for sure and was basically just praying for them to reach the shootout because Italy was the better team.
The 2014 Germany WC team at that time every player were in their Prime. Neuer, Hummels, Boateng, Kroos, Ozil, Muller, Klose, Schurrle, Lahm, Schweinsteiger, Khedira, Howedes, Podolski, Draxler, Gotze, etc 😬😬😬
I remember watching this. Brazil's very popular in my country and I remember going out to see this with friends being the only person that I knew that was with the Germans. Now Brazil fans are insufferable and run their mouth perhaps as much as actual Brazilians. The silence, despair and disbelief that followed gave me ten years back.
The Coach Joachim Löw told the players in the half time that they should not to play at full strength anymore, Schürrle was on the Toilet when Löw said this and when Schürrle came in, he scored two goals in ten miniutes until Müller told him to take it easy :D #violent
To this day I've never seen a result like it. Brazil seemed destined to win the WC that year (I thought) and instead they got humiliated at home. It was absolutely shocking
Nah - I was there through the whole thing. They were rocky the whole time only really beating Croatia with authority. From there it was all down hill, barely beating Colombia to keep in the tournament with a lackluster performance. They limped along, tying Mexico and Chile. Then got curb stomped by Germany and then further pissed on by the Netherlands 3-0 to get 4th place. If they seemed destined to win, the Mexico tie should have dismissed that. Playing 90 minutes and not scoring one goal.
@@lucanthunder until they stop playing as individuals and get back to working as a team, they won't win. They can't even beat Argentina anymore. They lost to Cameroon for crying out loud.
