People have to understand, this German team has been together through World and Euro Cups since 2006. They have shared the pain and frustration of getting to semis and finals for almost ten years together. There was so much discipline, skill and determination built up over the years, they knew it was now or never. Brazil was just not prepared for the German team's mixture of a perfectly running machine and iron will to make it this time.
Not exactly. Yes the team had some stars like Mueller and Ozil who had matured since the 2010 WC and had Neuer at his peak but their only real striker Miro Klose was quite old, their defense included guys like Mertesacker, Mustafi, and a makeshift fullback in Howedes. It was far from a perfect team. They also had journeymen and unseasoned players like Kramer, Schurrle etc playing. But mostly it's just way too self-congratulatory to say that this game was all about German perfection or determination. What everyone who watched this game saw was an example of psychological collapse. I was rooting for Germany but look at the simple goals they scored. The truth is the Brazilians were high on the idea that they would receive God-given redemption by winning the WC on home soil, that they were the holy saviors of their nation. The early goal from Germany shocked them and then the quick follow up. They never recovered. They stopped thinking about winning and started thinking about losing, losing in their home country in front of millions of people, disappointing millions, going from heroes to losers or even villains. They didn't have their heroes/leaders like Neymar and Thiago Silva on the pitch to inspire them so they lost all hope. After Germany's early goals Brazil completely crumbled psychologically and it became like a training game for Germany. It became easy. The German captain Phillip Lahm even said that at half time they felt bad for the Brazilians and decided to go a bit easier on them. Because it was clear to everyone watching that Brazil was basically having an 11-man panic attack at that point and had all but given up. It's an incredible game and an incredible window into group psychology in action. Germany deservedly won the 2014 WC and earned their trophy but there is more to this game than some people think.
@@nightmoose Germany did the same to Portugal at the World Cup. The mixture of talent and expierence was just spot on and Brazil never had any chance to be honest
@@chazkins9523 One player can have a bad day, maybe two. But if an entire team gets annihilated, there's more behind it. Brazil were not prepared for Germany playing good. The underestimated their strength and overestimated their own.
Will never forget this game....My wife and I were in a sports bar in Washington D.C. watching this game. We, along with one other fellow, were the only German fans in there along with a bar FULL of Brazilian fans. We were savoring this game as the only 3 celebrating among hundreds, while simultaneously, watching the meltdown of the Brazilian fans inside! I began wondering if we should be concerned over our personal safety...so we kept the celebrations modest. :P
Yall were lucky yall were in the US, any other country and those Brazilians woulda tried to hurt yall, you saw how Luiz shoulda been giving a red card for trying to injure Muller I believe? I never rated Luiz cause he was actually a shit defender
@@dawicked2k8 I.......don't agree with "any other country". Perhaps South America wouldn't be wise....however, anyone with a few brain cells would know better to put themselves in such a situation in the first place. :P Brazil has a lot of remote fans (i.e., non-native Brazilians, who just like Brazil because it's Brazil and yeah, have a good history in world football). Most of the fans were Americans, so....eh.
Bro, we don't hurt people that easily, not even here in Brazil. Normally, people just wanna enjoy the game and have some drinks. That's a rare stuff, you shouldn't worry.
Would love to get a time machine somehow and put this team up against 06 Italy. I'd put my money on Germany but there is no way that Italian defense would crumble like this.
@@dimitristsogas8689 You know, I was going to say something about the "hideous character" comment, but then I realized you're to stupid to even write that correctly so I think you're struggling enough as it is.
I am from Argentina. I am not a big soccer fan. Back in 2014, I had just returned from work and my dad was watching this match at my room (I had a big TV there). I was so tired I fell asleep before it all began. Suddenly, I woke up and to my surprise my dad was strangely speechless. It was strange because he always cheered when Brazil lost a match. This time, he looked rather perplexed, he hardly blinked at all. I looked at the screen and it said "Germany 7 - Brazil 0". I thought "No way!" so I put my glasses on just to confirm I wasn't seeing the wrong numbers. "Dad, is this a dream or what?" I said... to which he replied "No, son. This is reality. Brazil, the greatest soccer team the world has ever seen is being mercilessly humiliated by Germany. I never thought I'd ever witness something like this."
I had the same experience actually. I fell asleep before the game and went in the the living-room without my glasses. I read 1-0 but my roommates where hyped and said, I missed the most outstanding game ever. I was like „why“. „Its 7-0, dude!“ I couldnt believe, went to my room, got my glasses and still couldnt believe…
I'm not saying that you're lying, but I'm only skeptical that an argentinian would call brazil the greatest soccer team the world has ever seen hahahahahahahaha
I'm an Indian, and most Indians support Brazil (there's a huge Brazilian flag even today in our neighborhood club). But the next day at school, everyone pretended to be fans of Germany. Lol.
Yeah this happens in all countries What's worse is that The same people who trash talk certain teams, instantly become "fans" once the team wins a trophy Absolutely plastic and annoying lol

Kid you not, the next tournament around they were now “fans” of Germany because of Ozil supposedly. Guess what? They no longer support Germany now 😂
til today I do not understand what I witnessed that day . .
Yo cannot compare that. In 2002 both teams were strong and played on a high level. In 2014 Brazil was totally confused and playing like a team from third league in Germany. Just one team was playing - the Germans. But Germany was not really good, Brazil was totally bad and played like a rookie....and - yes - I also do not know why but it is like it is.
@@jimbo5930Because the team was actually terrible and we also lost Neymar and Thiago Silva who were our two best players and moral supporters. Everyone in Brazil believed that was Neymar's world cup so losing him was like losing Pelé in 1962 world cup, but unfortunaly we didn't have someone like Garrincha or even a good team
@@igig77764 OK, but it need not be 7-1. That was really a shame and not necessary. That was a totally destruction. Even if a team loses their best players they should not collapse like this.

lmao what, Julio Cesar was also considered a star. I mean sure, I get your point, but let's not act like he wasn't already an established name in the world of football
@@cesaravellaneda6317 i never said he wasn't a star, he is, but compare JC to Neymar, Marcelo etc. My man was giving blood and tears winning half the money the rest of the team was receiving
defense was completely absent in the game JC stopped giving efforts after the 3rd goal brazil lost 2 important players before the game one being neymar because of injury and other being thiago silva because of multiple yellow cards, had both played brazil atleast wouldn't have suffered a 7-1 humiliation
It could've been an easy 12x0 at least, if the German team didn't hold back in the second half and give the Brazilians a goal for free as a consolation
Man you really can feel the anger in Ronaldo’s commentary. It’s as if he just couldn’t contain his emotions and channeled the anger of an entire nation onto the mic. Unforgettable.
I admire the Brazilian fans taking a moment to applaud Schurrle's fantastic strike into the roof of the net. Even in a moment of national tragedy for them they acknowledge footballing brilliance.

I heard when the first half ended, I think it was Oliver bierhoff, told the German players with an angry voice "Stop humiliating Brazil". That's why in the second half, Germany held back
I think, that is because important players didnt longer play for germany. Klose, Mertesacker, Höwedes, Schweinsteiger, Lahm. And Löw didnt had a really good plan.
We all know the Germans defeated the Brazilians but what does it have to do with Ronaldo? You just showed a 2 sec clip of him and made a rubbish title about it.
The morning after the game. The wife of Julio Cesar, Brazil's goalkeeper: Get up my dear husband. It's already 8... Julio, still asleep: Oh, no! They scored another one ?!
This is one of those games where you know where you were. I remember going to the kitchen to grab a drink at 2-0 and then I get back to my sofa with the score at 5-0 and being so shocked 😲
I will never forget this game. It wasn't Malta or Lichtenstein, it was Brazil! Probably the best team in the world by then, in your own country at your World Cup. This game comes emotionally right behind the pass from Schürrle to Götze in the final. What impressed me, despite the deep sadness, was the respect the Brazilians showed for our DFB team. I'll never forget that too
Sorry but this was probably the weakest version of brazil we had ever seen at a world cup, nowhere near full strenght hiscorially yes they've been a big team but that team just wasn't it
As Germans spending our holidays in Italy my wife and I went to a little bar crowded with Italians that supported Brazil since Italy had not survived the group phase. After 30 minutes of the match all people in the bar were silenced, only staring at the TV while asking themselves if this could be real or just a dream (German perspective) or a nightmare (Italian/Brazilian perspective). Anyway, that was a day I will never forget in my entire life. ⚽💪
Watched this match on a public avenue in Canada. It was just me at the beginning, and all of the sudden they were hundred laughing and cheering for the German side. What a match it was. Brazil needed it!
@@exclusiveMusicAlbums i don't think so... Who watched this entire game know that the german players were not really trying to score much more goals, after 5-0.
Imagine England have had won that game 7-1. They would make jokes about everyone in this stadium. The Germans were so kind as the Brazilians were. No big parties. Just sportsmen like behavior. On the pitch and on the stands.
A lot of people saying that if neymar was there they would’ve won, i mean seriously? Neymar would’ve scored 2-3 goals but that time if Brazil had neymar, Germany had a team.
Lahm and LB? He played LB for the first few years of his career yes, but since 2010 he played most of the matches as RB, otherwise he wouldn't be on the same side as Marcelo
The thing about david luiz is judt he wasnt there, he forgets he is a defendant and go on to play in the midfield, and fernandinho just handed the 4th goal as a gift for them, after that, the team just fell apart entirely
Man, I have never seen Ronaldo this furious!! He was smashing everything around him, steping on other commentator's faces, broke the headphone. Only it was in a parallel world )) According to the footage he was calm as hippo
World Cup 2006 was my introduction to football. It was never shown on Philippine national tv but it was on cable and I became a fan of the German national team. I still come back to this after back to back disappointments.
The title is misleading. Ronaldo was just sad in silence and finding it difficult to watch at the way his beloved national team was being humiliated. We all watched live
There is a phrase here in Brazil to express defeat, or difficult of life e.g. the wife is cheating, the guy is fired at job, money losses.. the phrase is "everyday is a 7x1" or "everyday a different 7x1 to hold"
Luiz Gustavo e Fernandinho? Sem comentários. O quarteto Hulk, Bernard, Fred e Oscar era simplesmente patético. O Felipão montou um fiasco de time.
As a Brazilian, I remember watching this live and I just couldn't keep watching after the third goal, I knew what was coming. Such a sad moment for the brazilian history in soccer, we'll never be as good as we once were. Gotta give props to the German team though, such wonderful and clean victory.
Dude, your team's literally looking like they're gonna have a bright future. So many talents that aren't even raw anymore. Vini Jr, Rodrygo, Antony, Gabriel Jesus, Eder Militao and you still got worldclass footballers like Neymar, Marquinhos and 2 of the best keepers in the world
yes one game defines the entire future of a country's football program. You're a moron. Every team has it's ups and downs. Germany literally didn't make it out of the group stages in Russia.
As a fan of the german national team. That day was something else. One of the best things to know your team is in the final though the game has a complete half in front
Im brazilian and I remember that, when Germany scored the fourth goal, it started to be funny. I went out to drink water and when I came back they have scored another goal!!! I was like "what!? Lol"
Now let it sink that the last 3 CL titles are won by german Trainers and their team. Klopp, Flick, Tuchel. Flick will be Germany's next trainer. Can't wait.
Not every English fan acts like a prat, nor are English fans the only football hooligans. Italian ultras, Russian’s and Polish fans are far worse; notoriously so. Plus, Germany actually outclassed Brazil in this game, that’s a bit different from committing arguably the most cynical foul in football history and then only winning on penalties by 1 goal. Hardly an applaud worthy performance. Germany deserved the applause here, that is the difference.
@@dWFnZWVr some of them showed their true colors by racial attack rashford, saka, and sancho on social media, and by booing the italians singing their national anthem
I will never forget this Game. As a German we can’t believe what we are seeing. Like we live in a dream. But we also feel with all the great Brazilians out there who must seen this nightmare for them. Both are great football nations and the World Cup in Brazil was amazing with all the great fans. We really feel with all the Brazilians. Best regards from Germany 🇩🇪 stay healthy ✌🏼
Don’t worry about that. Didn’t you watch that Simpson’s episode “predicting” the result of this game including that fishy Neymar’s injury? It’s just bread and circuses for the masses.
That day, for one reason or another, German team got all the energy, luck, skills and spirit from the cosmos and Brazil got none. Germany was "in the zone" and Brazil the most far from it. Everything fitted and connected and worked in German team. Brazil the opposite. Great teamplay from the Germans by very skilled players, not only this match, but whole WC 2014. This match everything came together in a devine intervention sort of way tho
Apparently Germany were holding back in the second half to not embarrass Brazil any further. I wish they didn't hold back though, it would have been interesting to see the higher potential score.
I guess it is the same thing as I watch S.Korea smashed German nationals to go back to their home after beating up by 2-0😉 Football is indeed unpredictable at times so just enjoy it while you can and still don’t have to be beater when it goes as unfortunate 😉
@@Gabriteenx they have won 4, your point? Germany didn't get humiliated in front of their whole nation 7-1 leaving permanent damage on your football legacy as hosts.
I remember that, of course. I, as a German, was quite optimistic and thought that Brazil was much overrated. But in a semi-final everything could happen and the German match against Algeria showed the weakness of the German defense against quick forwards. Therefore, I was very happy to see Lahm on the right side. Then the 1:0 ... happiness and immediatley, cautious optimism .... Brazil had to attack and Germany was very good in counterattacking. .... 2:0 yeah ...odds are now clearly on our side ... 3:0 WTF? Thats it, normally the game is decides after how many minutes? 4:0 OMG 5:0 Where I am, what is that .... where will this end .... shit .... no excitement any more...game is already over. How bizarr is that? What will happen in Brazil... civil war? And hopely, the German team will now not overeact and remain calm, not trying to make jokes on Brazil .... at the end I was happy that Brazil shot a goal so that it was not totally one-sided. And I asked me the question was Germany so good or Brazil so bad? Now my answer is Germany was good and had foreseen the matchplan of Brazil and Brazil crumbled totally under the pressure and was awful bad n the defensive.
Besides my own country of course, I was always a fan of this generation of Germany. When this match happened, I just couldn't believe what's happening. I liked it, but on the same side I felt sorry for Brazil. So powerless... I miss the Joga bonito Brazil. Artistic, but not egoistic. Just to play football and enjoy being good at it. German discipline won them the WC in 2014, but in 2002, Brazilian flair got them one. So both ways work, if you have the right atmosphere in the team and you put hard work in it.
When the Germans get up to gear, they're pretty much unstoppable with their counter football. Just a year ago, every team in Europe was getting the Brazil special from Bayern.
@@Gebirge1946 Bro they're still boring to watch no one cares look at Liverpool and Man City. These teams are so entertaining to watch, who watches Bundesliga? No one 🤣 the EPL is the most watched league at the moment cause of how high the competition is my man
For me the 2014 Brazilian World Cup was one of the best. Not only cause Germany won but also cause Brazilians have been a wonderful host, very friendly and passionate about football. And also because the fact that the German team treated the Brazilian squad with a lot of respect after winning. That was pure sportsmanship on both sides. And a lot of Brazilians cheered for Germany in the finals against Argentina, so we could take revenge ;)
And Argentina had Higuain and Palacio miss point blank sitters or Argentina would have won. Argentina played toe to toe. Too bad Argentina couldn't have played Brazil or it would have been very sad for Brazil.
@willg1088 right bobo. Brazil got beat 7-1 by Germany, who managed to beat Argentina 1-0. Then Brazil lost to Netherlands 3-0, who had just lost to Argentina and couldn't muster any offense. Nevermind Brazil drawing 0-0 vs Mexico in group stage. All in their home country. Brazil was a joke and they should be glad they didn't face Argentina as Argentina would have gotten ⭐️⭐️⭐️ in Brazil.
How funny is that! How did Germany do that! Recently, I never thought of this match! I think this is one of my favorite soccer match, and also my favorite World Cup match of all time because of a funniest 5 goal first half!
To be fair, it was one of those one in a thousand games where everything just worked. You also have other games where there are 30:1 shots on the goal and the team still loses 0:1. In this game Brasil had 18 shots on the goal and Germany had 14.
No match has ever excited me more than this. Seeing Brazil humiliated this way is the best thing have witnessed in this life. Fred touched the ball 8 times in this game and 7 of them was to pass the ball after every goal and 1 time was to start play at the beginning of a half
Side note: Ronaldo didn't just watch his country lose massively against Germany, Ronaldo watched his Brazilian WC record broken in front of his eyes by Klose/Germany, against Brazil, in Brazil.
As a Germany supporter, I remember this match and recall feeling pain for Brazil. Brazil is easily one of the Greatest football nations and rightfully proud. There’s much joy in football but it’s so very physically and emotionally exhausting that even if you cheer for one team, you can easily understand the pain of the other side.
As an italian fan, the German 2014 midfield pack Kross ozil muller swainstaiger khedira is divine. The whole german squad was unbelievable, deserved win
That was right when Klose broke Ronaldo's record, Ronaldo was commentating but when the camera cut to him he noticed that and immediately stopped talking
