This feature is technically official the mod just enables some hidden registries nvidia has that makes their HDR work for games, they just didn't officially release it YET because they're still finalizing it. Can't wait to see what those improvements include. I think the benefit of this though isn't that it will be the best (fine tuning via shaders can be better since its manual) but that it will just be plug and play. Enable it and never worry about it again.
I've seen luminance in excess of 800 nits (pretty sure I've seen 1000 but I don't know if I'm gaslighting myself) with Nvidia RTX Video HDR so surely this mod wouldn't be limited to 650 nits. Also I live to hear you say gamma, I love it so much man.
650-700 nits is pretty good, our eyes perceive light logarithmically. That is to say, we see the jump from 50 to 100nits as the same amount of increase as 700 to 1400 nits. This means the difference between 700 and 800 (where most of the oled tvs fall) is actually very small, despite 100 nits of difference seeming like a lot on paper.
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 Yep! That the same formula a my example. Which is why those new 3000 nits don't seem quite as much brighter compared going from SDR -> HDR.
One place this works where reshade and windows auto HDR usually doesn't is direct x 9 games. Like I can get HDR in some direct x 9 fighting games now which is cool.
10% seems about right. In most of games I have paid attention HDR cost extra performance. Because you have to post-process and output 10bit image, not 8bit(sdr)
I have only discovered this channel today and I have spent the whole day watching your videos! You are so good and idk how to congrats to you. I am about to buy a new monitor ad after months of researching (and reading tons of reddit comments) I was thinking about getting a LG C3. But now I am doubting it since you recommend a C1 because of BFI... All that matters to me is the image quality, the color accuracy and I have been playing 60fps all my life, surely I would like to play 120fps... (I got myself a 7900xtx recently). The point is that as long as I am getting minimum 60fps I would not sacrifice texture quality or others game details for a smoother experience. Is BFI a key point for you? what would you chose in my situation? After watching a lot of of your videos I have discovered so many settings that I will need to toggle for HDR/SDR in windows 11 and on the TV settings (not even mention reshade profile for games) that I got confused since they are a too much😫 and since some of your videos are old and now things may have changed thanks to firmware upgrades. If you could do a video or a series of videos where you sintetize all the main settings change and all the required softwares a beginner have to do to this day to get the best quality result, I will use a photo of you as my wallpaper😂. Also how have you optimized your tv to act like a monitor and how do you prevent burn in (like how many times you run pixel refrasher). Sorry for this long comment but I got so confused that I was about to just buy it and don't touch it again
I'd recommend you a Samsung S90C to get Low latency Motion interpolation for 60fps games (Game Motion Plus) and get QDOLED colors. Make sure you're in a completely dark room
Good to see more tools for the tool kit. Even if everything is always a compromise. Forgive me if this has already been addressed, but do you have updated thoughts on the best way to use Motion Pro in true HDR mode? I keep thinking, with all the tools you have now, there ought to be a protocol where you'd still get better-than-SDR brightness and color volume. Peak brightness on a C1 should still be about 280nits with motion pro high, that's still slightly beyond SDR specs, and I therefore assume the only challenge is to not crush the near-blacks. In any case, is there hope for some settings that do not involve the SDR to HDR trick? Because I assume this do HDR colors no favor. Also, for older consoles that do not support HDR whatsoever, getting as much brightness as possible with Motion Pro High while remaining somewhat accurate still has value. I'll have to comb through your videos one by one because I think this topic may have been answered already :D
Your video looks very good in HDR 10 on an OLED display! Did you filmed this in a Log format and did a HDR 10 workflow in your editing program? Do you record with a Sony camera?
Oh, you took my suggestion for a video on this Great. I've only tried it on older games that didnt support hdr, like The surge 2 (not so good), Mad Max (looks good), and Kena bridge of spirits (very good). I guess I didn't notice a performance hit because I have a Rtx 4090 fe and since there old games, no problem! I use the Alienware aw3423dw, and I can confirm that you can use DLDR with this mod. The monitor is 3440x1440 but with less demanding games I upscale them to 5120x2160. Thanks again for letting me know about the nits.
I liked this mod and it does a very good job with the HDR. Some games it does a better job than the windows autohdr. A plus side is the mod is safe for anticheat games involving multiplayer as it just changes the driver color profile. Unfortunately, I cannot use it as I please because the issue it has needing all monitors to be HDR. I run Custom Resolution Utility to purposely disable HDR on my secondary monitor. I do this so win+alt+b command will not enable HDR even when told to only do the main monitor. So I either have to turn off that secondary monitor or re-enable HDR again if I want it on.
What's up Aliblack! You can get better colors and screen uniformity with a QDOLED, and Game Motion Plus (lower latency motion interpolation) for 30 and 60fps gaming on the console. Try an S90C of you have the space and cash to spare. Otherwise the C1 is still the TV I'd use every day because of OLED Motion Pro high

I tried this mod and I really liked the results on Granblue Fantasy Relink, the only issue is that once you deactivate it, it also deactivates Gsync somehow for that game
Hi! Great video! Can I ask you a question? I also have an LG C1. I play ps5 and pc. I use boost mode(in order to decrease input lag) and seems to raise blacks. I don't use VRR so Fine Tune Dark Areas is not for me. I set brightness to 49, it seems a little bit better, but may be I should use 48 or tweak 22 pont balance? What should I do to improve my blacks? Thanks for the response
Boost mode works for 60fps/Hz, you can just set the output of the PS5 to 120Hz and get better input lag than 60fps/Hz no boost mode. I would never use boost mode over OLED Motion Pro high at 60fps/Hz. The raised blacks issue with boost mode was resolved a while ago, unless you've never updated your TV
I always have my PS5 set to output 120Hz, but most of the games I play, don't have any benefits from it. One of the exceptions is Lies of P, it makes use of 120Hz and when I change from standard to boost mode, there is no change in black levels. Because this game has an in-game HFR option. But other titles I play have this black level raise with boost mode enabled. I mostly play in quality mode(30 fps). I know it's a bit juddery, but I like to keep the resolution high. So if I play mostly in 30 fps(with 120Hz enabled on PS5) do I have to use boost mode?

honestly, auto hdr + lilium shaders costs me from 7 to 10% fps in monster hunter world with my rtx 2080, so it's not free. If you obviously have a 4090 you won't notice the difference in fps.
Ariel! I found a Pioneer Elite Kuro 151-fd 60-inch tv plasma for 250. The seller claims it still has perfect picture. I will use it for ps2,gamecube, and wii. I know you're the guy to ask. lol I have a scaleler that fixes lag, but I worry about burn on from 2d games. Shoudl I try it out?
Hello Ariel I just notice something on my 42 inch c3. In an attempt to reduce how often the ABL would trigger I noticed that even if I reduce the pixel brightness down to 0 the ABL would still be activated in the game (Skyrim) that I was using to test it. I am using the acc profile 400 nits / 80 brightness and no more tricks to get more brightness. I think at pixel brightness 0 the screen is even dimmer than SDR but in SDR there is no dimming at all. Why is this happening? Maybe this could be a video idea? Best ways to make ABL less likely to trigger?
Sadly this only works if you have all HDR monitors, my main is an OLED HDR, but my secondary monitor is crap no HDR. So I have to completely unplug my second monitor for this to work :(
Hey Man! I wanted to ask , why you recommend using 1000 nits when using dtm for system calibration games ? Why not 2000 or even 800 nits , why 1000? Just for my knowledge. Also i am asking that because when i set 1000 nits in secret menu , when i set hdr with dtm its more then 1000 nits but when i put dtm off then it goes to 1000 nits . When using dtm it is pushing more then 1000 nits. Also i noticed that a sharpness setting when i change game optimiser preset to fps is smooths the edges even if it is set to 0. Instead of sharpening image it smooths it i think but i am not sure. Sometimes i feel like that sharpness 0 in fps is sharper then any other sharpness setting but i still settled there 20 and fps preset. Thank you Plasma
The reason to set it to 1000 is to be as close as possible to the actual peak brightness of the TV and Maxcll of the game, so there's not a lot of tone mapping

When using ReShade, do you know if it's possible to find the exact gamma value for any given game, so I know whether to pick 2.2, SRGB, or ScRGB? I really wish all games had a way to gauge the gamma, like when they give you an image to compare the gamma value to, but sometimes all you get is a basic slider and nothing else. As an example, the System Shock remake gives you no information to properly adjust the gamma. I also wish the HDR analysis tool gave more information when it comes to any given game's default gamma value. Do you just have to eyeball it at the end of the day?
Unfortunately you just hafta wing it, luckily most games will be very close to the 2.2 target so using your eyes to figure it out becomes easy. If it's gamma 2.2 the ICC profile won't delete shadowed elements, or do much crushing. When swapping profiles the SCrgb ICC profile makes those games look extremely dull and washed out when a lot of darkness and blacks are present.
@@RitzyBusiness I see, thanks for the info. Although, and these are certainly exceptions, I played through a few indie games recently (Cocoon, Oxenfree II, and Chants of Sennaar), where anything other than ScRGB absolutely crushed the black levels into oblivion. Playing something like the System Shock remake though, or most major game releases, and you're right that 2.2 always appears to be the best option.
Unfortunate it is max 600nits, what makes this good though is not having to navigate color spaces or settings. HDR should become MOSTLY set it and forget it, at least calbrate to your max brightness.
So I just tested this on Dead By Daylight, an online pvp UE4 game. Finally got HDR. Nothing else worked up to this point including engine.ini tweaks and force autohdr. Special K and majorpain hdr can't be used due to EAC. Only thing is lilium's HDR analysis shows peak as 10,000 nits. Edit : Screenshot viewed with wcg/hdr image viewer showed 1000 nits peak. GPU load on my 4070ti super went from 55% to 70% at 4k so there definitely is a perf hit if you are gpu bottlenecked.
Lilium shader analysis isn't correct for max nits most of the time, the analysis tool only accurately analyses when using Lilium inverse tone mapping. It also can't analyze anything the display is doing, its purely analyzing the game input.
Yeah i figured. In most UE4/5 games this always just shows as 10000 nits. That being said I'm not sure if the Nvtruehdr mod is getting correct values either. If it is using the monitor's color calibration profile it should be correct however I don't think this is the case here as my peak was set to 650 nits with the HDR calibration tool. Unless the wcg/hdr viewer is also showing wrong values?@@ThisisCitrus
@thealmostperfectconumdrum if anyone would download the "tweaks" for nvtruehdr, you guys would see that the .ini shows 1000 nits as a "default" Not sure if that's default after adding the files for tweaking to your game dir, or if it's just the default in general. Considering this looks brighter in helldivers 2 than it's native hdr (aw3423dwf), im gonna assume that means it's set to 1000 default. Everyone saying you can't change the values is clearly wrong, since they literally give you files to change all of those values and it says so on the nexus mods page...

Por el programa de escalado activa toda las opciones ver steam donde hay 2 logo de un reloj y play activa esa opción en programa de escalado no tiene que activa solo con tener abrieto fusionar yo los tengo en número 10 de resolución y los otro los tengo activados todas las opciones recuerdas no activa el programa ya fusionar así no ser si va a entender hay mucha ideas pero yo no ser explica bien si entendí te pues me avisas y te digo más ideas

I've tried everything to make it work but it just doesn't work on my end... New driver installed, auto-hdr turned off the .exe tells me it saved the settings but for some reason it doesn't work. It just launch the game in hdr without auto-hdr and the image is obviously washed out....
