Perform this exercise just once a week to take your strength levels through the roof. Not only that, but build serious muscle mass, increase testosterone levels, HGH levels and stave off osteoporosis as you get older.
The trap bar deadlift is my go to strength building exercise and has allowed me to be stronger in my 50's than at any point in my life. It also has great crossover benefits for many other sports and fitness activities that I perform. It's also a great standalone workout when programmed as described in the video.

Hi Mark, Thank you for this and all your videos.. you are an inspiration. Do you recommend having the weight "touch" the floor between reps or stop just short...?
@MarkLidsterfitnessgeezer
@MarkLidsterfitnessgeezer 3 года назад
Definitely touch the floor and even pause there, otherwise it’s not a true deadlift and the training effect won’t be as effective IMO 😊

I can still tell your arm was injured. Is it normal? I tore my bicep tendon completely as well. Subbed and liked 👍
@MarkLidsterfitnessgeezer
@MarkLidsterfitnessgeezer 2 года назад
Thanks for the sub Blake. My bicep has been shortened and is more bunched but from a functionality point of view I notice no difference. I think that’s quite standard for this type injury. Good luck with your recovery

How about 1 warm-up & 1 set daily?
@MarkLidsterfitnessgeezer
@MarkLidsterfitnessgeezer 3 года назад
Hey Ray that’s certainly possible. However you won’t get the same training/metabolic effect that I’m describing here. And you’d have to do it every day rather than once a week.

Hello sir, how long till after your distal bicep tendon healed post surgery did you start using the hex-bar? I'm two months post surgery at 51 years old, I'm wanting to get a hex-bar to help rebuild my strength and maintain it. Thanks for your content, appreciate it.
@MarkLidsterfitnessgeezer
@MarkLidsterfitnessgeezer 3 года назад
Thanks James. And a good question. Just remember everyone is different in terms of injury and ability, so what suits me may not be appropriate for you. But with that disclaimer out the way, I started using the hex/trap bar at about 10 weeks post surgery to start to lift weights around my bodyweight 75kg +. Check out my video here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XRYrZXuj3JM.html at at around 5:30mins.

I found your channel researching bicep tendonesis, I have the surgery scheduled. I'm 46 and wondering if you today have any concern you may rupture the bicep suture?
@MarkLidsterfitnessgeezer
@MarkLidsterfitnessgeezer 2 года назад
No it doesn't cross my mind when I'm training now and feel it is at least as strong as it was before. However I am much more mindful of how it happened, so I never put my arm in the position it was when it ruptured

If you had to choose only one high tension exercise, it would be hard to beat this! What would be your choice for just one additional exercise? Would it be some complementary push like an inclined dumbbell bench press?
@MarkLidsterfitnessgeezer
@MarkLidsterfitnessgeezer 3 года назад
What a great question 😊. The way I see it, as the hex bar deadlift is such a big compound pulling exercise, choosing a small relatively isolated push exercise to compliment it wouldn’t suffice for me. So I would go for another big compound move like a heavy sled push.
@suesimmons926

Looks dangerous, you could strain your lower back if you're not careful.
@situationunchanged9733

The opposite is true. If done correctly and safely this will strengthen your posterior chain and prevent further back injury. Fixed me after 20+ years of sciatic pain 👍
