Thank you so much for this video. I had my first Wegovy injection 6-19-24 and just ordered the sharps disposal container. I started off drinking tons of water and focusing on smaller, protein heavy meals. So far my only side effects are a bit of bloating but I'm only on day five. I'm 53, post menopause and my goal is to lose 30lbs. I'm 5'3" and starting at 160lbs, wish me luck!
Thank you for the video. I am 54, my first injection was 6/30/24, I am 5'4 and 276lbs, can't do any exercise as I just had knee surgery, drinking water, eating fruits, protein, still have a craving for chocolate, but I get heartburn if I eat carb, so it's making me think twice about that. So one step and a time
I had first shot of wegovy today. 7/8/24. Doing in conjunction with weight watchers. Love the app for the injection. Shows how much protein fruit and veg and water needed. Drinking my water and made dr visits with all my specialists. 5 feet tall 69 years old 185 pounds!
Thank you, Jennifer! This is so informative and I am hoping my MD will prescribe. The food noise term resonated with me. I'm almost 54, meno and heaviest I have ever been. Weight in my family is a HUGE deal. The main thing I want is relief from feeling so awful about myself.
When I first heard the term “food noise” it was the biggest light bulb moment ever. It was the start of me not beating myself up on the daily, I hope the same for you 💖
Great video! My personal experience is that intermittent fasting changed my life significantly. Adding Wegovy on top of that is I believe a Golden Package! 👌
Jennifer, Thank you so much for this video. I started Ozempic two months ago. No one talked to me about the side effects. I finally discussed with my doctor. She helped but you saved me from stopping this drug!! Please keep up your updates. You are very helpful!
Thank you SO much for scouring the website and finding the info for ordering the sharps container! This has been my question also. And NO ONE could answer it!
Thanks for all the info.. I am 67 and have fighting weight for years, now that my LDL went up the doctor recommended I start Wegovy. This video is helping me to do my prep work before Sunday my punch day. I would be grateful for 15 pounds anything to get me off of blood pressure meds and get LDL off my back and to live longer and healthier
@@StitchItUpVA That was my plan - hereditary high cholesterol even when younger and slim. I cannot tolerate statins - only lasted 5 days on two diff ones - they are awful. I suggested this to my pcp and he said forget it, insurance will never approve it. So I asked my cardiologist 2 wks later and he immediately wrote a letter to insurance and it was approved w/28 bmi
Thank you for all your research and for sharing it with us. I have to say I've been doing a lot of research myself and I think you are the first to recommend contacting the pen supplier to get and get a sharps container. Brilliant! Inspired! I've found them online for purchase and suggestions to make your own. But I much prefer your solution. I'm getting a lot out of your videos, keep it up.
Thank you for posting and all your tips. I always heard about the nausea, but never heard that drinking more water would be helpful. This makes me rethink my decision. I know everyone is different but thank you for your honesty.
Thank you so much! I like your style and your details. I’ve been on Wegovy for 4 weeks and your information is so valuable and has helped me as I’m transitioning to .50. You have helped me so much. Thank you for tip on the needle disposal info link. One question: Did you have any problems with exhaustion and if so what did you do to help with it? So happy you are inquisitive which I love because I like to research things well too. You have helped me so much because the nurse I have is to busy to help me so I’m considering taking your advice and move to another office. Excellent delivery style. Concise and to the point. 🤗🤗🤗❤
@@MJ-sr3rx so glad you found my info helpful 🤗 I did struggle with exhaustion but I’m not sure if it was because of the Wegovy or menopause. My dr and I treated it as if it was the menopause and the hormone replacement worked for me. Thanks so much for watching and your very kind comments 🥰
This is a great help! We loved your first one too☺️. Hubby is the one on Wegovy…moving onto 0.50 tomorrow 🎉. I just ordered the sharps container!! Thx for that info🥰. Now to make him watch this video with me. I can do all the cooking and shopping… he needs to do the rest. Thx again!!!!!
@@JScottBeauty I think because ozempic starts at .25 dose and wegovy at .5 (same drug but cleared for different purposes). And my doc wants to start everyone on the lower .25 dose to make an easier start.
Thank you so much for your insights. I have just started this journey and appreciate hearing from someone experienced. I can especially relate to the "food noise" lessening dramatically
Thank you !! I just started the medication this past month. This was what I needed to know ! I appreciate you sharing all you have especially about the sharps container . Thankyou💕 I knew drug companies do this since I use to take patient calls for another drug Company. I asked my pharmacy how I could get a free sharps container . They gave me a small sharps container but had no idea what to do with them once it’s full . Much better now I will ship it back to company once I get the big container .
I’m in Canada and was given the Sharp box from my pharmacy. They will take it back when it is full. You CAN toss the pen, but the needles need to go in the sharp box.
In addition to pharma mail-back programs, your town can provide you with drop off sites for used needles as well as disposal of other, unused meds. It’s usually a police office and/or town hall. Be sure to seal the container and write “do not recycle” on the container so it doesn’t get confused with the recycling.
I was surprised the hospital pharmacy told me the needle’s so small (and enclosed) that i could throw in trash maybe just use a laundry container??? Im going to contact my municipality as i am not in the same city as the pharmacy. Is the red sharps container sent by wegovy??
@@astralartist4 Yeah, that’s puzzling and doesn’t sound safe. if you do use a laundry bottle, clearly label it “not recycle” or “contains sharps” but don’t just throw it in the trash, which doesn’t sound wise. I bought a sharps container at cvs just to be safe. I’m a klutz with adhd and can easily misplace things so it’s important for me to be clear about what is going where
@@annt7384 thank you - I’m going to call the borough I live in. Even though the wegovy pens you never see the needle it is retracted but still doesnt feel right. The wegovy mail back program sounds good as they probably at least recycle the plastic housing.
Thank you for your very informative video. There really aren’t many videos as helpful, concise and entertaining as yours out there. I would love to see more Wegovy videos from you!
@@michellebonin9465 thank you Michelle. I have considered making a follow up video but I think it would be pretty boring (Hi guys, nothing’s changed 😃) Thanks so much for watching 💖
Thank you so much for sharing your information especially about how to dispose the pens. I was thinking to myself, where do the pens go🤔. Your information was extremely helpful, thanks!
Thank you for the information. I have been on the fence about this and with your videos and one other I saw today from a doctors point of view, I believe this is the best thing for me to start. You gave so many good tools to use in this video that I know it will make it easier. Thank you again and I am subscribed to your channel now and I love videos on make up and skin care!
14:33 Ty for your video I appreciate this so much!! My doctor just prescribed this for me. I'm just waiting for insurance to approve but, my doctor said I will have no issues. So I'll start in next few days. I'm excited but nervous . I wrote notes from your video ❤ I've been watching a lot and I found yours to be very informative ❤️❤️
I didn't know that Novo Nordisk had a program to send you a sharps disposal thing (and then a thing to send it back), but my state's health department advises that you put them in a hard plastic container, like a laundry detergent bottle, and when it's 2/3 full, you tape the lid up and throw it in the trash. They will even send you stickers to put on them to show that it is a biohazard, but that's it-- they just go in the trash. It seems wrong, so I just requested the sharps container you recommend!
I am on Mounjaro. They sent my a free Sharps container. But when it was full tried to reorder one and they are no longer sending them out. My pharmacy which is in a hospital. Told me to just tape the lid and throw in your trash. But I could check with my trash service and make sure. I said I can’t believe these are just getting thrown in the trash. I have also regular needles 💉 because I also have to get B12 injections. But that’s what everyone has said. You just tape up your plastic container and make sure it’s marked biohazard. ☣️ throw out with your regular trash. They should definitely have some sort of program to take these and depose of in a better way!
The needle is not exposed. That whole sharps container is not applicable here. Whip it in the trash and be done with it. This isn't a load the needle up with a vile and shoot it then throw dirty needle ina sharps container. I mean they don't do that with exposed needles on the streets or la. So guess it's not there bad.
I live in Massachusetts which as of 2012 hasn’t allowed disposal of sharps - however it’s packaged - in household trash. Contact your town for where to drop off used sharps as well as proper disposal of prescription drugs.
Thank you for this, I'm saving this video. I just got a pre-auth approved and I was trying to figure out last night what I was supposed to do with the needles/sharps container situations.
😊❤ Fabulous Video! This was extremely helpful for me and it was so valuable! Thank you for taking the time to inform us! Congratulations to you on your journey!
@@JScottBeauty I’m about 6 weeks in with taking Wegovy / Ozempic Im down about 7-8 lbs from my starting weight. I did experience some very bad nausea/ vomiting on two specific days so I’m freaking the big one as I don’t want to experience that again. You had valid points of getting water in which had my struggle as well as to up my protein and fiber. Thank you thank you! I know this is a process so I need to allow time to experience more weight-loss results! My face look less swollen and legs too. I just need to be patient as that’s the hardest part. I’m going to ask my cvs about the needles and I appreciate it. It wasn’t super clear online for Mn on the safe disposal. 😍🩷 Keep being awesome and thank you!
@@jonisanchez6065 7-8 lbs in 6 weeks is perfect! Hopefully you’ll be able to get the side effects under control and in no time you’ll be amazed by how great you look and feel. I wish you well 🤗
Such a helpful video. And thanks for the disposal info as well. I start tomorrow. I really need to lose at least 90. I have 2 grandbabies and one on the way. I also still have 5 kiddos at home. Weight has been an issue for me for 28 years. Never an issue when I was younger, though.
Thanks for the video. I am 39 years but had wt- 280 lbs and this worries me a lot. I started my journey 7/15/24. Hopefully I lost the 80lbs before the end of this year
Thank you for the info! I'm hoping to start Ozempic next week😊 BTW you look amazing and sound like you feel even better than you look. Can't wait to check out all the hair, skin, and all things beauty on your station.
@@JScottBeauty I know it's weird to come back to the same message again, but I knew you would appreciate how excited I am. My insurance approved me this morning! I cannot wait to silence the food noise! Everything else will just be gravy. -oh, wait!!'m probably going to be able to come up with a non-food related expression!! Yeah!! Anywho, thank you for sharing a bit of your life with us. 🤍
Thank you so much for this video. I have an Endo appointment today and am so excited. I wanted to go full carnivore but my lower back is telling me otherwise!
I just took my third dose Friday evening. My side effects have been drowsiness, I'm very thirsty so I drink water all day long. I've had one day where I felt nauseous and it went away. I have always had constipation issues so not really a side effect I can't handle. I think the drowsiness is what is effecting me the most. I have noticed that it last for close to four days. Today is the first day where I didn't sleep all day after my injection. I did take a two hour nap after my workout and lunch. The rest of the day I have little to no energy to do much around the house or with family. I have been doing the injection Friday nights and then using my weekends as my resting days, so I'm not so tired once I go back to work. I noticed that by Wednesday I was feeling less sleepy. Hopefully for my third week I will be able to get all my workout days in. I am so grateful to get to use wegovy as an extra boost in my weight-loss journey. I have had such a hard time losing the 45 lbs I've gained in the last two yrs. Hormones play a role in the weight not coming off and the extreme hunger I get from doing my workouts doesn't help. It's nice to not feel hungry all the time and to be able to focus on other things. I'm hoping the tiredness will wear off and I will be able to lose the weight. Once I get to my goal weight I want to use wegovy twice a month for maintenance as well as keeping up with my strength training and walking. I hope Wegovy is helping others as well. We all deserve to be healthy and happy. Wegovy is not the lazy way out like some people will say. If you are 35 yrs or older and a women, Hormones do play a roll in what happens to your body. As long as you are being responsible and healthy while on your weight-loss journey. Do what works for you. Good luck!❤❤
@@ashesdivide731 your perseverance is admirable. You’re right, Wegovy isn’t the easy way out, because you have to make a lot of adjustments to your life to get the best benefits from it. I hope your body adjusts soon so your energy levels return to normal. I wish you great health and success. Keep me posted on your progress 💖
I wish I could’ve stayed on this, it was really helping me to lose weight and not feel hungry. But I had to come off of it because of the severe acid reflex and because of the severe constipation. I hung in there for two months but then I had to stop😢😢😢
I was reading about sharps and the article said if your town doesn’t have a place to bring your sharps container then just put it in your regular garbage. Not recycling . So if that’s the case why can’t we just throw the empty ones I the regular garbage?
@@brianne571 Luckily,I never have any side effects unless I over indulge. And by that I mean if I eat out and have two cocktails with dinner and an appetizer and entree. It’s just too much for me and I feel it all night long. So I know better and stick to 1 drink and either 2 appetizers or just an entree, but I never clean my plate. It’s actually nice to feel full and stop eating. My biggest piece of advice to you as you start your journey is to really pay attention to what you are eating and drinking and how it affects you. You’ll be more sensitive in the first few months but as you get to recognize triggers you’ll make better choices. Trust yourself and take care of yourself. Good luck and keep me posted 💖
@@brianne571 don't worry all you need is don't eat a lot lol I learn my lesson the hard way I was very uncomfortable the whole night because I eat a lot one time then I watch it after that
When I joined the military, I Iost so much weight in basic training. Afterwards, I struggled with maintaining expected BMI. It didn't matter if I ate low calorie and worked out 6 days a week. I would fail fitness tests for having too high BMI, even if I met all other standards. Now I suffer from sleep apnea, and the VA blames that on my weight gain. I work a physical job, and eat very minimal amounts of sweets. I drink soda, and eat zero candy. I've recently replaced soda with iced tea. If Wegovy delivers as it promises, I believe I can add many years to my life.
@@GrossCouchPotato I’m so sorry to hear about the very difficult struggles you’ve faced with your weight. You deserve to be healthy and I hope Wegovy can help you achieve that. I wish you the best and thank you for your service 💖
Well done! Have you found that the your energy levels or up or down after being on wegovy? I'm worried that taking it (i have a prescription) could reduce my energy levels and possibly even contribute to lower mood, which would not be good for me. Thoughts? it really sounds like one needs to be prepared and have a plan for compensating as the body adjusts to the medication. Appreciate your helpful videos on your journey. thank you again.
Mood and energy were a concern for me because I was (am) also working my way through menopause and that’s a whole other nightmare. For me, going to the gym regularly is huge for keeping my mood in a good place, and in order for the gym to be effective physically, for me, protein is super important and that actually contributes to keeping my energy up. That being said, we are all so different so if you do decide to try semaglutide really pay attention to every side effect you’re having and address immediately even if you have to try different tactics every few days to find what works for you.
Great video, thank you. Congratulations on your continued success. A medical professional advised me to use an empty, extra large detergent container, fill it up over time, and in marker, write "SHARPS" on the outside, and put it in your recycling bin. They take it from there. It follows the FDA and Biohazard guidelines. Have a nice day.
@@mootanda730 I’m not a “salty sweater” when I work out and I eat a pretty well rounded diet so, luckily, don’t have a need for additional electrolytes in my diet.
That’s not necessarily a bad thing! It does take some time to kick in and not everyone has the same experience. Continue to be mindful over the next month and when you jump to the next dose level. Try not to put pressure on yourself to see or feel immediate results, everyone responds in their own time and at the dose that’s appropriate for them 💖
Same here - first injection 4 days ago and surprised, only had slight chills a few hrs after taking. And only some nausea if I brush teeth too thoroughly. Terrible cravings have stpped but I still find lunch and lite dinner tasty but have had to leave some food on plate. Only lost abt 2 lbs over first 4 days. Honestly, it seems like every insurance company has different criteria. From what I’ve learned, only 20% can come off the drug and maintain the weight loss. According to my endocrinologist, we should think similar to blood pressure medication, you wouldn’t stop the meds because your blood pressure normalized. Since it’s only a once a week injection and I’ve had no adverse reactions, I’ll be staying on it as long as my insurance covers it 🙏🏻
@@theoldtruckdriver and I am literally grateful for that everyday and well aware that it could be taken away very easily. It’s fun living with anxiety 😏
@@taranasuri3830 the best spot is where you have fat and it’s comfortable for you, but you can’t do the same spot continuously because you could scar that area and then the medication won’t be effective. But targeted injection for targeted fat loss isn’t a reality. Just get it in your body where it’s comfortable for you. There is a video on the Wegovy site about how and where to do the injection, I highly recommend watching, it’s pretty clear. Good luck 💖
I do have GERD but that’s not the primary issue. I have a difficult time eating solid foods and swallowing them (oftentimes resulting in them getting lodged in my throat and having to reverse direction).
