Not only that, but he's sharing targets with Kittle, CMC, and Deebo, who all were 1000+ yards from scrimmage as well. It's not that the system didn't utilize him properly, it's that the team is loaded at multiple positions; I'd say that under the circumstances they're maximizing his abilities.

People need to keep in mind that the longer Aiyuk holds out, the less effective he will be during the upcoming season. Players that hold out too long have a tendency to be less effect in that season and/or get injured. Yes, the 49ers would like to have both Aiyuk and Williams in camp and preparing to compete for a championship. But both players, who are under contract, have chosen to hold out for selfish reasons. 49ers brass have to look to the future and not hand out huge contracts to everyone. Many of these teams that are paying their receivers 30+ mil a year are going to box themselves in. I don't expect Purdy to take as much as he could get, thereby helping the 49ers retain players, nevertheless, he is going to get a handsome chunk of change. Players like Aiyuk have to realize that the talent around them helps them perform better. If he goes to the Patriots, he will have to fight for every yard he gets as the #1 receiver and a lack of talent around him.
