Powered by www.eurovision.tv Getter Jaani represented Estonia at the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest in Düsseldorf, performing the song 'Rockefeller Street'. Estonia came in 24th position in the Final with 44 points.
If I had a nickel for each time a nightcore version of a european pop song got insanely popular on the internet to the point where the original was all but forgotten, I would have two nickels, which isnt a lot, but its weird it happened twice.
@@ItsBritneyBitch1 well it depends on the person. Personally I like Nightcore and often would rather listen to a Nightcore version compared to the origional . This origional version , I wouldn't even listen to , it's just not my style but each to their own.
@@Gay_Jesus Very much so, coming back to this after 11 years of raving hard to the nightcore version, the original feels kinda drunk, ngl It's a pretty good song when mere tweaking is needed to make it a banger tho
Wait. This was a meme? So, you're telling me that I was driving down the road with this FULL BLAST from my car, belting it out as loud as I could because I love this song and it turns out that not only was it a trending meme at the exact same time, but I was unintentionally "cool" too? Nah bro. I'm tapping out.
@@javid_jared.2022 Eh the original was kinda asking for it. If you compare it to a normal person talking, the singer's really taking their merry time singing the lyrics.
I am Estonian. I didn't know this song was in Eurovision, and from Estonia. I am honored. I've seen Getter Jaani performing Rockfeller Street in Tallinn this year.
@@EternalMuscovite CORRECTION* 18 YEAR OLDS ARE HUMANS WITH UNDER DEVELOPED BRAINS, they're about 7 years away from being fully developed human beings, their bodies are still super hormonal. it's hard to achieve anything at that stage let alone all this.
Marios St. she's holding a little like container. That container is like spring loaded to launch the rest of the stick out. Simultaneously it pulls in the handkerchief. Well that's my theory.
In 2011, I thought it was nothing special... Now in 2023, I think it's a masterpiece! Great performance! Getter was so talented and beautiful! Well done again, Estonia!
*people* 2019 : *its from roblox!* 2018: *its from tiktok* 2016: *its from that meme!* 2013: *its from that nightcore!* 2011: *It's from Estonia!🇪🇪* *I'm from Estonia!🇪🇪* The original singer has interw and she dance that lmao. And talk about it* *And show some tik toks!! (About it)*
A trivia: Estonia was the only country that has never mentioned during the voting annoucement in 2011 (the highest they took from one country was 7 points from Lithuania, Finland and Ireland); even Switzerland was mention once (UK gave them 10 points). Poor Estonia, they were so underrated in 2011! (02/09/2019 edit): I didn't know that I would've get that many likes!
I had no idea this was a Eurovision song, let alone from Estonia. This song has a special place in my heart as one of the iconic old TikTok songs from 2019..
@Kawaiipony Productions This performance was from 2011's Eurovision Song Contest and it represented Estonia. Every Eurovision song is chosen 2-3 months before the contest through a national contest or internally. So yeh, both the song and the performance are old.
@Kawaiipony Productions No problem, that makes total sense. As one contestant said one time, Eurovision is like the Hunger Games of Music. Every country in Europe chooses their performer and song through a procedure and then they attempt different methods of promotion, preparations and improvements for weeks until all the countries representatives come together in the same stage to compete with each other. If you need more information about the contest just let me know ;-).
@@amanofculture2991 Trust me, we found it weird as well when they announced it in 2014 😅. Apparently, they are fans of the contest for decades and they reaaallly wanted to be in. They are quite good so we don't mind anymore.
@@ParalimniVoice "2-3 months" Technically, a song that competes could be released from the 1st of September of the previous year, to the day before the deadline.
Dan Karukami Well, that's just an excuse. Think the other's weren't nervous? Besides, it's Eurovision, no one would have cared if she just playbacked. It's about the show, not the music.
There's always people bitching when an artist uses playback, and when he/she doesn't, they don't like how it sounds. Although I agree with you when you say it's about the show, and not the music, since it's Eurovision, and if that's the case, why do you care about her hitting the right notes? I'd like to see you sing the song pitch perfect.
Dan Karukami She's a singer, performing live, yes? I think it can be expected that when she's send as Estonia's best entree for the festival, that she's actually able to sing properly. It doesn't take a doctor to see when somebody's wounded.
Considering this is still a meme and people still recognise this song... She won a lot of hearts and still keeps wining them (and maybe even won whole contest of that year for someone)
No, she didn’t. She finished second to last, and, to be honest, I’m surprised this song even made it to the finals. And if this song is a meme doesn’t mean this is a winner. Not by any means.
@@CWhite-tv3hu you are a little bit too serious, don't you think? Of course, I didn't mean "OH MY GOD SHE IS THE BEST" I only talked about the impact this song made. Not saying any bad things to the winner of that year ;)
Valerianka well, then you could say something like “She didn’t win that year, but she definitely won our hearts” but not “She won Eurovision that year”. That just sounds a little sharp. And yeah, I didn’t mean to be rude in the previous comment, I just dislike the song(I think it’s a lil’ too childish for Eurovision, but everyone has his/her own taste).

Remember watching this in TV. I thought she would come with this at least in the top five. I Still can't understand why this was only so far behind. This Performance is still legendary.
To be fair, it was a particular strong year. I even ended up buying the CD because there were so many good songs, something I didn't do in any other year. But yeah, I also didn't expect her to be that far down, still love the song.
Back in the days I was in middle school and our English teacher loved the song and printed out the lyrics with a few words missing and we had to fill them in 😂😂😂
Nice!!! :D I'm from Sweden, but I'm actually part-Estonian! :D I go to estonia at least twice a year. Tallinn and Hapsalu is ecspecially beautiful according to me!
