Just a friendly reminder that both times we, the player, are introduced to Gromm Hellscream ( first in Warcraft 2, then again in Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos), he is imprisoned or captured, in need of saving. Did no one in the various Orc clans ever question whether this guy was fit to be Warchief? He can’t seem to stay uncaptured for very long… 😂

Near my grandparents house, there was a community centre that had a little internet area in the late 90s. On one of those computers was WC3. I had WC3 at home, but one rainy day where I wanted to play video games I wandered in and fired up Beyond the Dark Portal's human campaign. That led to one of my favourite memories in gaming, where I basically speed-ran the campaign while other nerdy kids just gaped in awe at my WC2 skills. Good times.

I met a couple of my best friends in the mid 90s at a mall game store that had like 4 pcs networked and we'd play quake and WC2 a bunch. 30 years later we're all still nerds playing games.

Scavengers Reign is like one of those imaginative alien artbooks that Curious Archive/kids at libraries/car rides love. A fresh idea in every scene. Btw, you should make My Life Of StarCraft into a text which represents your enduring thoughts on what it was and could have been and may yet inspire. Everyone would love you to dev, lest a unique avenue of invention be untapped, but your thoughts are, enough. Make like a guru and write it down, for you.

I remember the expansion missions being a lot more difficult a lot quicker. Especially ones in where you have to keep heroes alive.. I recall Teron Gorefiend (that yellow dk) died on me from a single exorcism from an enemy paladin that zipped into my base on a mission. Like wth man, low blow.

I remember giving up on Beyond the Dark Portal pretty early on. The enemy just didn't give me any opportunity to build up an army and I got burned out.

As a producer and PM I have never been called out so hard in my life. For real though, there are too many PMs in many projects (1 per 4 projects, and a product manager for the whole thing) and YES the VARIANCE IS REAL oh my god.

I love the fact that you can replay these classic games so easily nowadays. Unfortunately we wont be able to experience Hearthstone like it was 6 years ago ever again… 😢

If they ever remaster wc2 they need to move that minimap. Im convinced day9 woulda multitasked easier if the minimap was in the right place lol

this game is great and all but lets talk about nose hair for a second. both tweezers and trimmers have massive problems, because not only do tweezers hurt like a mother but they also cause me to sneeze which inflames and irritates my sinuses for hours. trimmers don't make me sneeze right away but they leave little splinters of my wiry nose hairs floating around in my nostrils so every breath is like a macro study of asbestos particles shredding into lung tissue.

I think my favorite part of this game is the juxtaposition between the ostensibly grim and serious story and the orcs' goofy ass voice.

I hope you finish this but Dark Portal is tough. Also hope you look into older games like this. I don't care about Hearthstone or WoW because live services are not fun and consistent. Those games are for rich people like private jets. Too realistic taking all the fun out of fictional escapism. Watching Heartstone is like watching Jake Paul's channel or something. Throw money around to win but that's part of life that makes me enjoy video games instead of real life where everything is about money. Therefore live services are contradictory to the video game experience. It used to be a hobby accessible to many, now it's a high roller country club. I own many disc games though so I'm all good. The games are superior anyways because they pre-date the live service game design that preys on idiots who don't understand personal finances and what to spend your money on wisely. Live services need a helpline similar to gambling addicts. A drug addiction really. Meanwhile the cost of living rising by the day so think before you spend. That national debt though. No doubt modern live service gaming is part of it. However if you went back to War1 or StarC1 classic now that would be great. I don't want the SC1 remaster either. The classic disc version is a real game you can buy and own for life. A real product. Or try Diablo 1 or 2 classic disc version. I don't want William H Macy Amazon face for D2 remonetized. I want a beautiful female fit Amazon showing some thighs call me crazy. What's the point of HD when they mess up the most important part about fancy graphics - female character designs. The game looks better in classic form similar to how D1 looks so great being all rough and gritty. The females look way better in classic. I'm not on board with Sweet Baby Inc Diablo 2 remonetized who hate men and healthy biology/physical fitness. They sabotaged the females in WoW also. The big named characters at least. F that corporation don't use Bnet for anything. They hate male gamers so why support them?
