You are a hilarious dude man. I died at "I never wore this, suit so I'm wearin it now". Thanks again for the info. Looks like I need to go ahead and have my bank account info written down and ready for when I ship out.
+MILIK FULLILOVE how long did you have to wait until you got your ship date? i pray i don't have to wait too long, i wanna ship out before the summer time because Texas heat is no joke!
+Bridgette Traylor Yes, your rank has a direct correlation to your pay. As you get promoted, you get paid more. Coming in as an E-1 you get about 1500 a month. An E-3 earns nearly 1700
Okay, I want to make sure I understood you....if you ship out July 17th.....the first pay check is JUNE 1st??? or should that be August 1st??? Just checking.
Leaving 01March2016 for AF BMT, starting at E-3 rank. Question is, "do I get paid as an E-3 in BMT or as an E-1"? Also going into the mechanical field AFSC 2A6X1. Thank you !
I have a question about the air university(air force community college) , exactly how does all of that work in terms of when you can attend, after bmt? after tech? Can you go to an actual campus or do online classes or any info you can give me on going to college while serving would be great! And thank you for all the videos they have been a great help :)
notsurewhatimdoing1 There will be much more to come on the education topic. But to answer your question, you can begin taking college classes after completing your 5 level CDCs after you arrive to your first duty base. CDCs are a series of job training tests. Most people finish them within a year of arriving at their first base. Secondly, you can take classes on the moon if you want to. Online, or in person- the Air Force just wants you to be able to show up to work when you're supposed to. So if that requires online classes, then adjust for it. But if you're able to take in person classes, then go for it!
WildBlueYonder Good morning, at BMT will money still be deducted from paychecks including the backpack initiative? Or is that all that will be deducted- just the backpack initiative?
I was wondering after your out do you keep any of your blues or whatever they are called (no disrespect ) and if you do when are you permitted to wear them in the civilian world? I was wondering because sometimes you see people walking around in them, thanks
EndGametricks Hey, yes they're called "Blues" or more formally called a "Service Dress Uniform". Once you are retired then yeah you get to keep all of your uniforms. Most people just get a shadow box or something though and keep maybe one of their uniforms for keepsake. And yes. "Retirees/Honorably Discharged Personnel may wear the authorized uniform prescribed at the date of member’s retirement or any of the uniforms authorized for current active duty personnel, including the dress uniforms. Do not mix uniforms." AFI 36-2903 12.4.1, 12.6.1
At BMT, how did you spend all your dough? I'm going into BMT with a few thousand and hope to save all the way thru tech school so I can buy a car at my home base.
+ethan 8 Yes, you will spend money at BMT to survive (hygienic products, dry cleaning, haircuts, etc) from the BX and further during your graduation week if you want pictures, videos, t-shirts, back packs, boots, food etc
Can you make a video on how you save your money? Also, I live in an unincorporated US territory (Guam)and I have a savings account here. Should I open up an account in a mainland bank or will my savings account here be fine?
+Alex Diego Well I don't know the financial ins and outs of Guam- so I can't tell you exactly which is better. But you'll have to have a bank account that the Air Force can direct deposit into.
+WildBlueYonder Can you make a video on how to save money at BMT so you don't spend all of it. I wanna know what was necessary and what was kind of a waste. My goal is to save as much money as I can so got any tips?
+Teddy Ramos I believe so. I'm not married, but I'm pretty sure you have to be separated for more than 30 days. You'll want to double check with a recruiter
I have a question my son is thinking about joining the Airforce but he wants to join the reserves is there anything that you can tell me about the benefits and money for college ( still trying to work on him doing full active )
+Laney AB You can look it up on the Air Force recruitment webist, and you can just enter your information. Ie. Rank and time in service. Once you submit it, they'll tell you your annual salary. Then you can just divide by 12 and get your monthly paycheck. Most Airmen get around 700 a month
Mae Buford You'll have the civies you wore to BMT, plus any that your parents give you at BMT graduation (this may have changed since the implementation of Capstone Week). Once you get to tech school you can have clothes/ possessions from home shipped to you or you can buy new ones at the BX/buy them online
I'm trying to get into dep right now but my recruiter won't email me back anymore :/ I filled out the enlisted case file and medical documents. But now my recruiter hasn't gotten back to me for about a week. I was really thinking about handing the documents in personally instead of emailing him again. Ugh. I really just want to get into dep so I don't have to worry about anything else. What should I do?
studpum Your recruiter is probably just busy. Try calling and asking if they've received your emails. If they don't answer than give it a few days and go in person
+Alyssa D ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-f8Jm0icGDkA.html that should have all the info you need. And you should ask about job availability, benefits and make sure you make your intentions clear about what you want out of the AF
I ship soon so I have to decide btwn 4 or 6. I want to crosstrain into PJ. my recruiter said I can cross train at 24 months cuz it's SO job other ppl said on a 6 year you have to wait 36 months for SP and 56 for any other AFSC. do you know whether it's 24 or 36 months for crosstrain in on 6 year contract
+pendryhunter They are washer friendly, but you have to dry clean them at BMT. Once you get out of BMT you can wash them however you'd like (everyone just washes them)
Hi.. I have Master degree in Applied Mathematics from California State University with minor Physics and Statistics. I want to join US Air Force after 4 months. Which type of job will I get in the Air Force? Means Enlisted job or Officer Job?..also what about housing?..
+Parth Desai With a bachelors degree, you have the option of being an officer or being enlisted. Job wise will be determined on your ASVAB score and other determining factors (criminal history, health etc.). The Air Force doesn't take into account what your degrees are in- as long as you have one, you're qualified to be an officer.Housing wise- it's very dependent on your situation. If you could answer these questions, I can get you better information. 1. Are you married2. Do you have children living with you3. Do you want to be an officer or enlisted
+WildBlueYonder 1) I am not married. 2) I don`t have children 3) I want to be an officer. Also, housing is concern, they will give me the house on rent or on purchase?..I have to choose the location for housing or they will allocate me?... I just want two bedroom small house.. because in future my parents will live with me..and housing allowance will be cut from my salary or will I get salary plus..?.
+Parth Desai Thank you! Well, if you're an officer, you'll have two options.1. You'll be assigned a house on base upon arriving at your duty station. You don't have an option of what house you get. If no house is available, you'll live in a paid hotel on/off base until you're placed into a house. The payment for this house will be taken completely out of your BAH (Basic Allowance for Housing) fund. This fund is additional to your base salary. Say, as a 2nd Lieutenant, you get paid $2000 a month for BAH. All $2,000 will be taken to pay for your ON BASE house.2. You can choose to live OFF base in a house or apartment complex. If you do that, then you'll simply receive the $2,000 and you can spend as much or as little of it as you want anywhere you want. Any extra money goes in your pocket.
+WildBlueYonder Hi..Which type of job will I get in the Air Force? Means Enlisted job or Officer Job?. If all jobs will full then they kick me out from the Air Force?..In other words how much surety of getting a officer/enlisted job? ..Since I have Master degree, is it necessary to join Officer Training School for me?.
You should definitely get with a recruiter to fully discuss your options. However I think you may not understand the difference between officer and enlisted. In the military, there are two types of people. Officers- who lead and supervise groups of people in order to accomplish a mission. And Enlisted- who follow the orders of the officers to complete mission. To enter as an officer, you must obtain a bachelors degree and attend Officer Training School. Upon completion, you will enter the military as an Officer. To enter as enlisted, you must obtain a high school diploma, or a GED with 14+ college credits, and attend Basic Military Training. Upon completion, you will enter the military as an enlisted member. With your education, you meet the requirements of both sides- therefore you can join whichever you want. Job wise--- this is important. Your degrees do not matter. The only thing that matters is that you HAVE a degree. Once you have a bachelors, you can join the Air Force as an Officer. Your specific job in the Air Force is determined by your score on the Armed Service Vocational Battery Aptitude test, otherwise known as the ASVAB test. I'm sorry if I didn't answer your question- I didn't quite understand it, so I just broke down the basics for you
brandon davenport Forgot to mention that--Yeah, so you get paid whatever rank you'll put on at graduation. Even though you won't wear rank during BMT, you'll be paid whatever rank you'll graduate as
