I know this is old but I agree. My form was terrible when I had low confidence. I would "shuffle" because when I was running I didn't want to make eye contact with people I passed so my head was always down. I also was afraid I looked and sounded weird when I tried to breathe properly so it would hinder my air intake.
Thank you. This was a much needed video. Running is my only fear because I completely suck at it. I leave in almost 3 months and I have a long way to go
Yo your very very helpful I don’t usually comment on peoples pages because I don’t care but I subscribed to you I think u definitely know what your talking about I’m thinking about joining the air force and I wanna get ready and you’re definitely helping with that you don’t stutter u don’t even “Um” in your sentences your not a slow talker your straight to the point your awesome lol thank you man keep these coming I’m sure your helping a lot of people like myself
I've read a study that says if you increase the incline of a treadmill 1% it offsets the lack of wind resistance. i find it easier running outside just because when I run on a treadmill I can feel myself holding back, even when I'm borderline sprinting. I'm a lot fast and don't get as tired outside. plus I like to pick a spot at the home stretch and bolt as fast as I can where as on a treadmill you lose explosiveness because you have to manually increase the speed.
This video was really helpful:) thanks for all the advice I plan on going to the Air Force next year so I have a year to prepare but my run time is 14:30. Trying to make it to 12 mins
This is my struggle right now, especially with this continuous pain in my left calf after runs. My recruiter is like, "HURRY UP". I've been working on bodybuilding already for a year though, so nutrition I've got down pat. Bodybuilding.com has good articles to help understand all that stuff too.
Im in DEP and my recruiter told me they give out backpacks now with stuff in them when you get there. he said its subject to availability though so if theyre out of some of the stuff youll have to buy it at the bx during the first trip (which isnt a biggie) but yeah. i leave sept 13th and have my BMT packing list if you want to see it. he said even if we do get some of these items when we get there its better to go with some of them already just in case you dont end up getting them
+Tim Munson pretty much! and try to get your reporting statement nailed into your head before you leave. our recruiters make us use it as soon as we step into the office
Wild Blue Yonder, I wanted to ask you if you think my idea would work. Basically, I wanted Enlist National Guard 4-6 years get my Bachelor Degree than Commission Officer Active Duty in The Air Force
That is totally possible! Something else to consider is USAFA. We have 67 priors in the class of 2020, or re-applicants/directs. You get your degree and commission :)
Runing in a indoor track now, im a future US Airman class 2021. Cant wait to graduate from high school so I can join the Air Force. Update ship out June 22 2021
One thing you should make a video on is that depending on the location, the base you get assigned to, that will make the difference between being able to really run or forcibly run indoors on a treadmill or if you're lucky have an indoor track. Aka MINOT. People failed left and right there because you are dealing with blizzards and -57 degree weather. No brainer and should be a disclaimer next time.
Hmm so I am pretty much doing everything right; except I'm a bit off on the nutrition part. I've been just eating oatmeal alone or bananas. My best time for 1.5 miles is 11:02 though.
Hey man so im stationed at good ole JBER and will be till 2020 thanks to my ipcot being accepted. My run is horrible and ive been working on it but it just doesnt seem to be working. Need help! By the way if you can guess what my afsc is "welcome to jber".
searched for a video about how to shower quickly, ended up here without even noticing, do not regret it a single bit! very great video! i did not know such a channel exists! wow!
I have running shoes that are half a size big, great for running for me, but since they aren't tight on my feet, they aren't great for random in place exercises, so I use my regular sized shoes. I assume I'm only allowed one pair of tennis shoes at BMT... Which should I use??
So I still have 3 months to prepare before basic and I am currently 155 lbs. do you think I can still cut off some weight? I wanna do good when I get to basic so I will pursue my running.
Great video. I have been stressing about running and I leave September 20th. My run time sucks but I have been working at it. Will it be a huge deal if I don't make it close to the 14 minutes the first PT test?
I cannot wait to enter the Air Force Matt. You inspire me every time I see a video. I will try, TRY to become a SERE but if all else fails I'm looking into security forces! Keep up the videos Matt.
I watched this about a year and a half ago, when it almost killed me to run 14 min 1.5 miles. Left for BMT 358 days ago and, thanks to this and other videos, arrived at Lackland able to run it in under 12. These tips really work.
Wow. This video is golden. So much helpful information. Really appreciate it. Had to save the video so I can reference it later to review. I especially like the nutrition break down. It seems like it's difficult to get accurate info on what our bodies actually need and why. There are loads of misinformation out there. Makes it confusing.
Great video, I was actually about to look for something like this. Also, it might look a little silly, but you can put a sock on the mic just until you get a proper windshield/fuzzy thing.
technically the best way to drink water is to drink water when you're thirsty, if you drink too much water it could exacerbate problems. Unless you have some kinda medical condition i dont know about, but chances are you dont.
All RU-vidrs need to take pointers from this video. He's got the perfect sound level to his music and he's using himself to instruct. Not super loud music and subtitles. Good job producing this video.
I've always had a difficult time when i run. I can't seem to breathe properly. About 2-3 minutes is all i can run and it takes me about 20 minutes to be able to breathe properly again.
I was the first in my area to DEP in with the air force. My life dream has been to serve our military and tbh my only real proble, is running and its because i stress out and think too much about running while i run so i start to lose my breathing pattern and just get messed up. your tips really help me and have been for the past 9 months literally the day before i went to MEPS. anyone needing more tips on cardio here is a link to help you fellas out www.military.com/military-fitness/general-fitness/how-do-you-get-in-better-cardio-shape
The only time I notice myself put a lot of unnecessary wait on my joints is when i come up to a sharp turn and I'm sprinting. I probably accidentally every once in a while but that's about the only point I need to work on. 😁
can you do a video on the fine line of video gaming/chatting and getting your business done to be successful? Not staying up too late etc. I know you seem to have this under control. It would help my lad who is just starting follow on school.
whats your opinion on alcohol? Like not while on runs or working out or anything, but I usually go running five miles every morning, my mile and a half is down to just over 9 minuets, but at night I'll have a beer or two and a shot, but I've heard a few bad things against it, like it can be very detrimental against progress, but other people saying its complete bs
I would only say that you're gonna convert most of the carbs in your beer into fat overnight, so I wouldn't recommend drinking beer every night. As far as hard liquor, one shot shouldn't affect your running that much. Also, alcohol dehydrates you, so make sure when you drink alcohol to also drink plenty of water before running
I'm genuinely surprised about the people that leave the 6th! Nice to know we are all in the same boat. I'm going in as tactical aircraft maintenance btw
i like running on a trail because it removes the need to track laps, plus you 'cant' quit early because your forced to run or at least walk all the way back to your starting spot.
id also like to add that running with others is great, especially if they are slightly better than you. I joined track this year and it helps with motivation as well as pushing past previous boundaries.
I'm one of those dudes that run with their head down while breathing straight in and out through my nose. Looks like I got some work to do. Thanks for the tips though.
Going for a run right now! Stoked on this journey. I’m currently fat and overweight. I am 190 and gotta get down to to 165 to join the AF. Thanks for the tips and infor and tips on this channel. Thank you sir!
