Some women also experience ovulation bleeding, which can be mistaken for a light period. Having sex during that time is highly likely to result in pregnancy.

@@muppetsrule1143why would they lie about it though? What would be the purpose behind it? Because i have a very slim chance of getting pregnant now and my fertility wasn't that high in my 20s either if it was I would have had at least one kid by now every womans system is different here too and it's kind of hard to get pregnant unless I went and got invetro done also my orgasms are not as strong as they used to be so there's that too and i'm kind of glad it happened because now I get to watch all the struggling baby daddies try to justify why they didn't feel like they needed to wear condoms if there picking up a prostitute. At least i can say my ex's were smart enough to keep themselves protected. Some Men are more scared of having kids then women because it kind of puts them in check and it forces them to be responsible. Women don't usually need that same motivation to help themselves.

My little sister is 18 and tells me way too much about her and her friends sex lives and waaaay to many young women I know are giving in to boys wanting unprotected sex and think it'll be ok because they're on their period or only just had their period or it's the week before their period. My female gym teacher couldn’t answer basic questions I had about birth control, all she taught us was just something that seemed like she was reading the Wikipedia summary for it. I also once had a question where we were learning about drugs and I asked “if alcohol is a depressant and MDMA is a stimulant, is it a bad idea to take them together? And her response was “I think they’ll counteract each other meaning you’ll be fine and won’t be drunk anymore.” You’re probably thinking “what the actual firetruck?!” It sounded kinda dumb to me even as a 13 year old who knew nothing about drugs and I didn’t realize how my instincts were right about how wrong she was until like 2 years later from my sister who’s a psychologist. High School was a little better because it was a very progressive teacher but she was pretty old so it was always old VHS tapes that talk about how HIV is almost always an instant death sentence even though that’s not the case anymore. Also we once did an activity about the ABC’s of sex and for Q my group thought to put “Queer” and she thought it was still an offensive word so she made us change it to “Questioning.” So that last part’s just a funny anecdote about what it was like with older teacher.

@sweetpie7919 11 месяцев назад
I think breastfeeding as birth control control works but only up until a point. Because you ovulate and then have a period it's tricky. Breastfeeding exclusively can stave off ovulation, but once you start ovulating during breastfeeding, you can get pregnant. I exclusively breastfeed as well but by 7 months babies are also eating food. My first baby did not like food. I tried giving her everything. She only wanted milk so I didn't get a period for 10 months and also didn't ovulate. But with some of my younger kids the moment they started eating baby cereal and fruits and veg. I ovulated so four or five months after giving birth I was getting my period and had to be careful, Even though I was breastfeeding around the clock. Then I switch to nfp which has always worked for me because I have a very regular cycle.

I had my period for four months when I was pregnant with my daughter and five months when I was pregnant with my youngest son. The doctor told me it was nothing to worry about, don't freak out. So I did and called my mom. And was informed that while she was pregnant with me she had her period 4 months as well and when she started showing they thought I was a tumor.

Some studies suggest that the female sperm tend to live longer than male sperm so that if you're wanting a girl, the best way to maximize your chances of that is to have sex 4 to 5 days before you ovulate. You would have to know down to the day that you ovulate though which most people don't know.

If you have a regular (average) cycle it’s highly unlikely, if I ovulate at day 14 for 3-5 days that’s 19 days. If I get my period at day 28 and have sex the sperm will definitely not be alive by day 14. But of course if you don’t know for sure when you ovulate and don’t have the same consistent cycles every month don’t take this chance.

@mamadragonful Год назад
Fertility awareness method is pretty reliable when used correctly. Rhythm is largely useless, unless you happen to have a textbook cycle that never varies. That describes very few females.
@saludosalsol
@saludosalsol Год назад
It’s only unreliable and not useful if you don’t know when you ovulate and don’t have consistent and regular cycles. I’ve never missed a period in my life and have only been late a handful of times. My ovulation day is like clockwork. Even if your ovulation day is not the same every time you can take ovulation tests and use body temp and discharge consistency to determine it. Even if you’re not using it as contraception it’s so useful and good to learn about your body cycles. I’m lucky but for someone like my cousin who has a period every four months it would be useless. Of course it’s not for everyone but doesn’t mean it’s unreliable across the board. It’s great to have options & everyone should track and learn about their body cycles imo, no matter if it’s for preg prevention or not.
@oenrn
@oenrn Год назад
@@saludosalsolThe thing people miss is that those methods were created for people who were TRYING to get pregnant, so they would have sex when pregnancy is more likely. They were NEVER meant to be used as contraceptive methods, and using them as such is asking for trouble.
@saludosalsol
@saludosalsol Год назад
@@oenrn fertility awareness method was and is used for pregnancy prevention and family planning. Again, I don’t think it’s for everyone by any means. That person needs to know when they’re ovulating and have a regular, consistent cycle for it to be effective, which many people don’t have. Even then it may be risky so you should also accept the possibility of it not working or of you doing the method wrong, cuz you have to be so diligent in your tracking and temperature taking. So I don’t think it should be advertised that it should be used by anyone and everyone for contraception. But education and knowledge is key. Tracking you period is helpful to anyone just to track markers of ones health, whether or not you want to prevent pregnancy.
@sydney6268
@sydney6268 Год назад
@@oenrn I took a lesson on Fertility Awareness method because I wanted to get pregnant and had gone off birth control. The instructor specifically told me to use it as a contraception method for the first 3-6 months so I could better learn how to use it correctly (because I obviously wouldn't be able to track the cycles if I got pregnant). I get where MDJ is coming from on it being a "myth" that you CAN'T get pregnant on your period, but if you understand your cycles and track them it is extremely unlikely. Fertility awareness can even work for people with irregular cycles because (unlike the rhythm method) it relies on basal body temperature, not whether or not you bleed. So I don't love some of the comments that are extrapolating her short to mean that hormonal or invasive birth control is the only option. For most women, Fertility awareness is a completely viable alternative. The only women it wasn't recommended for, according to the instructor, was women with very short menstrual cycles. I think even then, though, there was an alternative method (where you didn't have intercourse after the first day of your period or something like that).

I had such a hard time finding a birth control that was working for me once I turned 30, my hormones changed wildly and I had already had 2 kids so my body was doing whatever it wanted to do I guess. So we used the “rhythm” method. That lasted 2 years and I was pregnant. It definitely wasn’t planned or ideal. My daughter is 4 now and I’m thankful for her but never again will I rely on any rhythm method esp if my polycystic ovaries have anything to do with it- they know nothing about being regular or rhythm of any sort.

It's better safe than sorry and who wants to risk an 18 year thousands of dollars commitment, possibly with the wrong partner for you, when you could spend $10-20 on a solid supply of condoms?
