Getting Ready For A Horse Show! 

Okay Laura and Sophie, you both need to face reality. Look at the video of Sophie riding Lady bareback and today’s video when she is riding with her saddle. LOOK AT SOPHIE’S POSTURE! When she is riding bareback, her posture is correct, with saddle it is incorrect ( her upper body is forward because her pelvis and hips are tipped forward). Why? Because the seat of her saddle is TOO SMALL. Here is the reality, Sophie does not have a skinny little butt like most riders showing English. It is no diss against Sophie, what is a diss is her continuing riding with a saddle that does not fit her properly, which in turn affects her riding. If you can afford all these animals, all the saddle pads, blankets, and other gear you buy for the horses that you really don’t need (let’s face it, you probably outfit several horses besides your own), then spend the money and have a professional come out and fit Sophie properly for a saddle that fits her. It would be money well spent.

Sophie need a bigger saddle and Sophie is too heavy and you guys need to get a reality check! This is crazy that you just keep doing the same crap day after day

If ride in a bareback saddle and you are sliding is because you are not balance. You have to make sure you have equal weight in each sturrup. When you ride without the bareback saddle your balance is disturbed equally. And your legs hang in the correct position. You do carry your body position more correctly riding without a saddle. This riding area is perfect for strengthening Lady's legs and helps her thinking on feet placement. Plus the different grade on the ground helps you to tilt from the hips to stay in balance to the slope of the ground. Also this is good in teaching a horse to stay at the same speed that you want whether going up and down on difference grades like you are traveling on level ground. Good job Sophie. Glad to her you talking about your horse and riding. PS please set your horse's hoof back down on the ground instead of letting it go and letting it drop. Horses cannot stop their hoof from falling to the ground. It hurts when it hits the ground. Love the brow band. God Bless.

Maybe look into a bigger saddle for sophie.. It would help her in the long run.. I see the comments about this and see alot of us are just trying to help and in no way shape or form trying to make sophie feel bad.. your riding has improve alot chick and you could improve even more with a saddle that fits correctly.. if thats the same one since finn i understand not wanting to give it up but you have grown into a beautiful young lady that needs a saddle to fit and support you properly.. A dressage saddle would be helpful for balance and easier to ride in - the jump saddle puts legs too forward - maybe you could borrow one to see the difference? Happy riding!

Hey Laura I’m sure you know this but if you water down the aisle with a watering can it will keep the dust down. Lady and Sophie are looking good!

i am really trying to be positive. however - starting point is to find good trainer, really. You arent any better at riding through these years. At least 3 riding dressage lessons per week on good surface. Starting with correct diet and light exercise without horses (now you can loose weight much easier than in 10 years...). You can make it, you have supportive parents. If the money is issue - just have only one good horse in sport stable with all necessary equipment (riding hall etc..) i dont think you can do anything without intensive training. For example i am high level dressage rider and i have 4-5 times per week a lesson... still even am already certified trainer myself...wish you the best and your family.

Hi ALL, Sophie when you HAVE done the poles just keep riding start for two or three strides .before turning lady as she's a bigger horse .may be put some cones out to help you. It's just somthing I noticed when YOU went over the two poles to gether .hopefully this will help you out. Take care and all the best. 😊😊😊😊👍👍👍👍

What I have read in a few of the comments are so disrespectful and potentially harmful to a young teenage girls confidence I myself are a bigger girl and used to ride. Her horse is part clysdale and used to carrying weight. I used to ride a clysdale and shire mix, and he never had problems. Please be polite and think how you word things so as not hurt people please 🙂

Some of these comments are so freakin rude. You realise Sophie has an actual medical condition that affects her weight right? She's been losing weight very well since the condition has been discovered. Do you think her and her parents are unaware of this? (I was overweight as a younger teen & now because of a condition) I always had people commenting on my weight and my mothers partner would call me names multiple times a day and comment on it, eventually causing an eating disorder. Young teens take things to heart, especially when they're already doing something towards losing weight. I agree about the saddle not helping her position, but I imagine if they buy lady eventually they will then get a saddle fitted for the pair of them. She will also be having lessons. She has improved so much in her riding and her confidence, yes she has much more to learn, but they don't film every single part of every day. Urgh, just riles me up when people are rude and judgemental. There's nice ways to say things and some things that just don't need saying, cause it makes you look like a d***.
