Getting Recognized Stories 

Hey Explainers! Decided to cut a bit from this one. I've always loved every fan of every age that has ever approached me, and a joke I made about an awkward situation made it look like I was weirded out by my adult fans. Which is TOTALLY NOT true and I feel terrible I made anyone feel bad for watching my stuff! That's on me, and it's my failure as a storyteller and entertainer. My bad joke hurt members of my adult audience and made them feel like they didn't belong, which is NEVER what I have wanted for this channel. I apologize profusely for it. It will NOT be happening again. Goes to show you always have things to learn and ways to improve yourself no matter what age you are. Thanks for understanding, Explainers and Entertainers!

As a male fan in his 40s: there are more of us than you think. That wasn't supposed to sound creepy, but tbf everything we 40 year old men do is automatically creepy.

Middle-aged people now (I'm 41) are very different than those from past generations, we grew up in a very different time. We can't afford to not keep up and we don't like being forced by society to only enjoy things intended for our age, we're a lot harder to shame than before. I saw what my dad thought was "correct" in his 40's and he was miserable. We're very much like you, only uglier, crankier and closer to death.

“Ladies, gents, and all other corporeal beings” (6:21) As someone who falls into the third of those categories, I appreciate that you said that.

I was so nervous meeting my favorite writers/artists at my first conversation. I forced myself to to stay calm instead of fanboying.

For real tho, I'm extremely glad the Animation community has so many adult viewers!:> It's about time animated creations aren't seen as kids' stuff. It's already upsetting enough that the generation before us still thinks that. When I'm much older I want to stand to my favorite RU-vidrs and watch my favorite Disney movie without someone looking down on me and asking if I do that because they assume I have children. How foolish of them haha.

I love love love your channel, as a weird kid myself in the late 80s thru the 90s we moved alot so I was always the new kid, shy, a bit off and socially awkward...I'm 35 now and my kids showed me this channel and it's like a narration of my entire childhood into adulthood...thank for letting us weirdos know it's ok to be ourselves ♥️

Um, Rebecca I just turned 56. You shouldn't underestimate your appeal. As far as I know my daughter (or my son) have never heard of you. Although I wouldn't be surprised if my daughter has because she's an art student. Hang on a sec lemme check BRB...Okay I'm back. She does know who you are but it took a bit of prodding before she figured out who I was asking her about. I asked my son too for good measure. No such luck with him but wasn't really expecting him to know. Love your channel been a fan for years.

In my 30's, learned about you from my gf, and you're great. You actually remind me a lot of my sister, so you're not just entertaining, but nostalgic. At the end of the day, you're good at what you do, and that generates fans!

HEY! Old people things?! I've been watching before my kids ground you, thank you very much lol Honestly, I'm not sure why I enjoy the story time animators... But from the time I was staying home raising my kids then through the pandemic your story is gave me sort of like the opportunity to meet people. In a way. Your stories were more in-depth and having the opportunity to hear people felt like there was more closeness than texting. You guys are all pretty much on demand where real people have no play button. Yeah, I'm going to be 40 and I still enjoy your stuff. Your stories are fantastic, relatable, and enjoyable. Mostly because they are lived stories. That and for me it's probably because you're neurosis are about as bad as mine LOL ------------------------ And so you know what's spurred me to write this, My kids: watching the video, scene about the "old guy" Me:"WHAT?! OLD?! Where's my phone?" My oldest: "dad? What's wrong? What are you going to do" Me: "old..... I'm going to yell at her" Hahaha 🤣

I think why seeing a popular RU-vidr IRL is so exciting is because there’s probably millions of people who watch the RU-vidr’s content and so not many people get a chance to meet or talk to the person, so when they do get a chance, it’s pretty exciting.

The cashier girl was HILARIOUS. "Uh, what-EVER nerd."

I’ve had people recognize me at Horror movie conventions (sometimes actors from movies I’ve reviewed) and at most just wanted to buy me drinks at the bar. I can’t imagine what I would do in these type of awkward situations. 😱

So I teach magic on Diagon Alley at Universal, and as such I interact with A LOT of kids. And said kids tend to spend a lot of time in and around Orlando, as do I. And these kids have some amazing memories apparently, because even though the costume stays at work and my face is covered from the nose down the entire time I'm there, they'll remember me based on my voice or my hair style or my body shape or something. So, while I explore the muggle world in search of food and swag, I have been recognized as "the wizard" by no less than 10 different families. I'll usually try to smile and give a little wave, but if I'm more on the ball I'll say something like "SSH! The ministry will have your head if you out us like that!" or if I happen to have my wand, I'll pull it out and give it a couple waves along with a wink. Its funny just how much of an impact you can have on kids without really realizing it!

The reason people are amazed by meeting youtubers is because they are well known by millions of people. Something about that is cool enough to be like a dream to meet a popular RU-vidr.

I'm a smaller RU-vidr, but I have also went through the situation of being recognized and yeah. The first time it happened was when I was going to therapy, I was waiting for my name to be called and out of nowhere, a 40ish year old saw me and asked, ,"Hey, are you Wolfkeen?" I said yes and it just led to us talking for a little bit about some of the discussion and topics I've brought up recently. (At the time I was primarily a gaming/review) it even led to me coming up with new ideas. The second and final time it happened, I was on my way out from an MLP convention. Most people fly or drive out of Baltimore, I had to take the bus. And while I was waiting at the bus station, I was recognized by someone who was thinking about getting into the community. I ended up being their reasoning for joining and I even recorded a dumb joke for the sake of having fun with em. Both times felt awkward but I also enjoyed them.

Meeting Rebecca like: “Get your dog bi-!” “It Don’t bite” “YES IT DO”
