The thunder audio is very cool. Listened with headphones on. Also bear claw tree in 4K on my 4K monitor was cray

That first fish is a classic old , malnourished high mountain trout. Big head , skinny body. Should keep a few to make more food a available for the ones left. Cool video.. thanks

Really did look like a hunting camp. Not a great hunting spot though... maybe mountain goats or bears. Maybe just a fishing camp... I'll never know!

I haven’t been to that lake in about 16 years. I also did it solo when my hiking partner backed out on me the day of. Never made it up to the other lake because I also felt the same way and had the same hesitation when I was there. Seeing all the different areas of that hike in brought back memories. Beautiful lake, challenging fisherman’s path hike now made longer because of the decommissioned road, and one of my most memorable hikes. Thanks for taking me back and looking forward to your eventual return and continuation to the other lake!
@CascadeBackcountry
@CascadeBackcountry Год назад
Man it sounds like we had similar experiences. My partner on this adventure backed out last second as well! Yeah some day I'll get to thqt upper lake. I remember the road being open when I was a kid. A blessing and a curse. Thanks for watching along!

Been a few since I was last on the channel, your over 3K subcribers now, nice! Does RU-vid give your like a coaster, or beer bottle openener or anything for that achievment? ha Good job on the trout fishing, still haven't seen you break out a flyrod, I'm waiting. I'll fly out there and sherpa for you and teach you the ways of flyfishing, but you have to promise to cook me a fine dinner of coconut curry chicken :)
@CascadeBackcountry
@CascadeBackcountry Год назад
Haha RU-vid costs me 1,000,000x more to make videos than I earn from it. It's really just a hobby for me, however!, it would be nice if it paid for itself! Yeah I'll whip up a trout dinner in trade for fly lessons and a sherpa 🤣😂

I know where you are. I was just over the ridge at the big rocky lake with the big dorsal fin fish, thinking, I wonder where the closest person is. It was you, probably.
@CascadeBackcountry
@CascadeBackcountry Год назад
Oh man that's crazy! I was thinking the same thing haha We were probably pretty close actually! In August I'm going from Slide passed Enjar to whale, arrowhead and then the lake you were at and out the Marblemount side. Maybe I'll see ya up there! 🤣 Did you catch any of "big dorsal fin fish"???
@lukeodell176
@lukeodell176 Год назад
Dang. Person who made it into the lake with the big dorsal fin fish now the front runner in the coolness rankings that exist only in my head. That's awesome. I don't think I'm ever gone try it. Was it as tough to get there as they say?
@mossbackarb863
@mossbackarb863 Год назад
Getting there isn’t too bad, definitely a bushwhack, but on a road. Biggest issue is not much of a shore. Definitely a pack raft kind of place.

Nice to see you catching fish in a video again 😂 this really shows the incomprehensible power that the sport of fishing holds over man. Hike for several hours through a forest with frequent bear activity to spend the night and fish at a lake that “I don’t even know if there’s fish in it?” I love it!
@CascadeBackcountry
@CascadeBackcountry Год назад
Nice to be out catching fish! Yeah I never thought of that. Great point! We wanna fish these remote lakes so much we're literally willing to risk life and limb. The incomprehensible power of fishing... I love it!

I really enjoyed this one. Very edgy with all the predator signs. Especially that last scene with all the fresh claw marks on the tree. Holy #^%! Thanks! It's a great neck of the woods... lots of lakes. If we're talking about the same F.... lake then yeah... not an easy task! Haha they also decommissioned the first few miles of road leading to the F..... lake "trailhead" so it's even tougher now

I agree thats a trip to take a friend on. The camp looked like its a bushcrafters camp in progress. Someone from the city thinking no one will ever come out here and is building it for shtf. Glad you made it back out of their safe, did you use onx to get you out of there? Btw enjoyed the content as always, be safe out there.
@CascadeBackcountry
@CascadeBackcountry Год назад
Yeah I couldn't really describe it well but it was just one of those adventures that would be better with a buddy. Definitely a crazy bushcraft SHTF camp! I didn't see it till the next morning but there was also a shovel and rake there. I do use OnX and Gaia GPS. I'll be back someday. Thanks as always for watching!
