Getting Started with Upwell Structures

In this video I take a look at the initial capital costs, fittings, and upkeep costs of running an Upwell structure using a hypothetical fit. For the purposes of this video I will use an Athanor refinery as the working example, but the principles I cover work for all Upwell structures.

Special Note: Fittings used in this video are demonstrative only, and should not be taken as an endorsement of their use. Enough structures die every day in New Eden that there are plenty of other fittings to see on zKillboard. Do not take the example fitting as a suggestion for use, it is just there to show you how structure fitting works.

The corp im in recently put an athanor in low sec space and it got blown up within 15mins of it finishing deployment.

That is the challenge of putting structures down. They are of incredible use, but they're also big targets and need to be defended. Part two of this video will cover what it takes to keep one of these babies alive.

@@JuriusDoctor i'd say it takes a corp with the cummulative firepower to take on the attackers, in our case we're onoy 38 mostly miners across the world, and us in europe didnt get a chance to defend it as it was 4am for us. Only 5 or 6 of us could go online to shoot back at that Dreadnaught. The worst part is that so many people could have benefited from the athanor, as we have only a 0.5% refining rate for all, and that lowsec system spawns jaspet and mykoserocin daily, and special gneiss/crokite sites every 10 days or so. The closest refinery to compress is 4 jumps away.... It was such a pointless BS attack, out of a whim of someone with a big powerful ship.

@@endospores the way I got around this was to make enough isk to pay for protection and eventually protection from the eviction Corp. It's a large price to pay but eventually I got them onto a percentage of what I was making(on the books I warped of course) so eventually I became a prime spot to sell and have been for a year now. I'm not into pvp that much as majority of my time is now spent trading but if I need a fleet to drop someone causing a problem, they do wnjoy my content. It's like calling the towtruck lmao. Get them the F out please. But then again, having a massive trade wallet is the best course to actually enjoy eve. If I didn't make a couple bil a day I'd not enjoy the game very much.

An enlightening look at Cits. When I last logged out, they were still new. Logging in now, I see they've popped up everywhere like gas stations. I had no clue they were so large an investment.

Great video, two questions: 1) How do I put "station services" into the simulator, I don't see them in the list to the left? 2) Why the heck is the Citadel and Quantum core separate items?

I dropped some on sisi when trying out stuff, but do not own any on tq cause the pesky wardecs. Isn't the Tatara a large stucture with Keepstar being the only one that is XL? I just despise the core idea, just a drain on isk with the core for the Raitaru being twice that of the station, just insane and structure spam might have been lowered in HS but null guys still drop tons of structures.

Enjoyed this video. Query: Should I deploy a structure , Refinery intended for high sec… in my own space? I am Galente, so stay in Galente space? I trade out of Jita, and would like to park one, one jump away from Jita…

'Irregardless' is likely a portmanteau of 'irrespective' and 'regardless' and first appeared in print in 1795. If it's not a word, it's been a non-word for more than 200 years.

Hello friend. Allow me to introduce you to the best source of information on EVE Online mechanics anywhere; the EVE University Wiki: wiki.eveuniversity.org/Upwell_structures To answer your specific question, from the UniWiki: "XL structures, includes Keepstars and Sotiyos, cannot be anchored in High-Security space." Furthermore, market systems (Amarr [Oris], Jita, Dodixie, Hek, etc) do not allow the anchoring of Upwell structures. This is why Perimeter is so popular, just one jump from Jita.
