I will absolutely share the whole story at some point. I shared tidbits of it here and there in the videos (check out the one about fostering teens).

Hey Lauren I have a question. Do those parameters apply to children already in your home? Like say I am licensed for 6-9 years old, and I've got a 9-year-old in my home who came to me at let's say 7, and she's going to be 10 in six months. Do I need to change my license before her birthday, or is it okay because she came to me when she was within my parameters? (This is hypothetical, of course, if it was a real situation I'd be asking a caseworker or someone instead of a youtube comment!) How does that work?

No once a placement is with you they should be able to stay with you. Some places don't even put ages on licenses.

Openly deceptive...YESSSS ...it's true! Also...could you do a video on relationships with Soc Workers and Foster Parents...tiltle it..."Don't You Just Hate it When..." and feature all the things that happened that either made you upset .. irritated or just plain ready to quit..!!! It would truly help a lot of people struggling through the red tape of the foster care parenting work...☺️. For example...Don't you just hate when you get the call to take a child ...you scramble to get everything in place only to be called the next day to tell you they found someone else... And maybe also give some ideas of how to prepare but not scramble...I just don't know ...I've returned so much stuff...but the food goes to waste ...it's soooo frustrating!!!!

@@laurenfosters8487 that would be fantastic....I'm looking for something real ...real issues we face...I think it'll be therapeutic for us doing this work ..it will let us know that we aren't alone ...that others actually have the same challenges. We need to know we aren't failing...and there is a sympathetic ear....😞

Frequently the person making the call doesn't know. It's often not the primary caseworker who is working on the placement, but a worker from a specialized placement department who knows the child primarily from the paperwork, or in an emergency placement case, a supervisor or an after hours worker.

Can you only accept placements where the kids would be able to be adopted? Only looking into foster to adopt as that is the only way I've heard you can adopt a kid. Please correct me if I'm wrong. We are wanting to adopt a kid 2-7 years of age. Is there another way to meet a kid before flat out adopting them? Thank you for the video!
