Awesome video. This is exactly what i was looking for. Did a cam swap almost 3 years ago on one and I’m picking one up this week. Figured I’d refresh myself and this video was perfect
When you said you broke a socket, I said, he must have cheap ones, lol. I use to buy the cheaper ones, but I discovered it’s a HUGE! difference. I recently bought a small Craftsman set, and It’s night and day! Before I was breaking sockets left and right, but with the Craftsman, I couldn’t break a socket if I tried, and trust me, I have! Also I have a 2012 Caprice PPV and want to do a dod delete, but it seems a little intimidating, I have some mechanical skill but am no mechanic by any stretch of the imagination. Also forgot to mention I’m in Indy.
@@LukeWaters It also appears you are using chrome sockets on an impact. They are harder, therefore more brittle than a black impact sockets. Technically not supposed to use chrome sockets on an impact for that reason. A lot of people don't realize there is a difference between the two. Quality is still a factor.
That's just varnish, it doesn't look gummed up to me. That varnish is most likely from standard conventional motor oils or even some synthetic oils without enough acid neutralizers or detergents Heat will cause these oils to stain the engine. That's one of my biggest pet peeves. I used to used Mobil 1 Full Synthetic in almost every car I've ever owned, until one time I had to tear an engine apart. The inside was just plain nasty, not gummed up but heavy varnish on every internal part. Never again!
