I just wanna clarify she's not one of the least popular members ANYMORE. She was once especially when they first debuted and for the first 3-4 years, she was very overlooked because the company placed her in the back. However, ever since time for the moon night and sunrise, things shifted with the hush performance back in 2019 and her popularity exploded in Korea. She's mostly always in the top 10 or top 30 for brand reputation. Her popularity has grown more since apple released and she's like the 3rd most followed member on instagram amongst all the gfriend members. She's now one of the most popular members especially in Korea and is getting more regarded for her visual (not so much still but is getting there). Edit: Also this woman deserves SO much praise. She is the most selfless person I've ever seen. She never complains about not getting enough lines to sing, or being put in the back, or not having the same amount of solo gigs as her members. She happily gives the members their spotlight even if she doesn't get anything from it, and thats what we call a damn good leader.

Also they don't have the same amount on ig. Sowon has 700k. Umji, sinb, and yuju all have 600k something. Yerin and eunha have a bit more than 730k. There is a huge difference if we're talking about numbers. She's easily one of the popular members atleast in Korea for sure. She always tops brand rep more than any of the gfriend members. She stayed in top 10 for like months this year and last year.

Sometimes very popular members fancams don't get a lot either. Sowon herself may also be refusing work since she's kinda shy/ introverted. Maybe she likes being with her members.

Like I said, I genuinely don't think she's unpopular. Yes sometimes in the gfriend comments people don't talk about her, but sowon stans I've noticed are just more chill and quiet. sowon has very long limbs, so naturally i think she would be thinner. she can’t help that. people think weight is something that’s so easy to deal with when it’s not, it’s completely different for everyone. sowon has long limbs, so any weight gain isn’t that noticebale. whereas for me, i’m 5’2 and my limbs aren’t that long so weight gain is noticeable. it’s hard for her to gain, it’s hard for me to maintain. everyone is different. i hope people become nicer and more considerate towards these idols and take more into consideration. also, these companies really need to learn how to deal with taller idols and different body types. that’s where a lot of these problems come from i think.
for some people with long limbs the weight gain goes into belly immediately. but wearing skinny jeans+huge sweater may help to hide that until its too late, lol but for sowon it's hard to gain weight anywhere, I guess

It just makes me so unhappy to see people hate on her and refuse to believe that some people are naturally like that. I hate that she was forced to gain weight and change because I also have her body type and look up to her. It's never talked about, but extremely thin idols are often pushed to change or are cast aside as punishment for their natural bodies. You can't preach about loving yourself if you shame the other end of the spectrum too. I love you Sowon! You make me feel better about myself.

Agreed. I actually relate to the thinner idols more because I was always super skinny growing up until people shamed me for being *too* skinny. I've never been "fat" or chubby or anything, but I def put on some weight to the point that my proportions look off, and I'm currently working on losing that weight I gained. Being bullied for being too skinny is just as hurtful as being bullied for being too fat.

Even now she got a new job as MC. Shows are calling her more often now, and wants her to be their guest. In 2019 there's a poll in Korea where they vote who's the most popular member in korea (including other groups) and Sowon was ranked in top 3. Sowon also got acknowledge for her beauty , she's the top 3 Korean beauty u know😂. Ever since then, Sowon have always got into korean news for her beauty. She's quite famous there. She begin to have lots of solo activities now But popularity isn't everything, I hope people won't try to compare this and that.

if you look at sowon's face, it's obvious that her body and weight are not a product of extreme dieting. i never actually noticed her weight change over the years, but i think their style has changed a lot, especially in MAGO. her outfits for MAGO really look good on her, like the flare pants and all that complement her body well in my opinion.

As someone who barely gains weight, we rly have to push ourselves to eat way beyond our limits and feel like throwing up after every meal in order to gain a pound or two. Believe me, she's one of the best leader I've ever known. I fall in love with her when I see her fancam of GFRIEND stages where some members slipped and fell. Maybe it depends on the proportions of the body. If the legs take up for example 2/3 of your figure they will look longer even though you are not super tall. Or you have to be taller than 1.70 I guess.

I really dislike those people that thought that we can gain easily. They do not know the struggles of putting so much effort in gaining weight. I was bullied 'cause of my weight. Like girl- we also wanted to gain weight but having a family that were also thin can be a great factor plus high metabolism. Gaining weight is not easy. People should know that.
You can literally tell from her body type too that she's not underweight that's just her natural frame because her legs don't look tapered at all and her skin looks fine.
