Kenner's Real Ghostbusters line had four ecto-plazm colors: purple, red, yellow and blue. I stll have those cans and the ghosts within, and while the slimes are now quite dehydrated and rubbery, the scent is still there 30 years later. I actually recall them being thicker, like your $1 slime. It took time for it to run through the grill on the roof of the Firehouse Headquarters, or out the nostrils of that classic orange ghost toy. Wasn't too sticky/messy either.

I like how just like on the original Ecto plazm it says "proof of a ghostly encounter " I myself have two of each color and love them to death

Dan, if you actually tear the rest of the wrapper off you will see that they did put a Ghostbusters emblem on the can itself. Nothing major, but does set it apart from just a plain barrel. Check it out if you haven't already.

After watching this video I rushed out to my family dollar to find one of the blue Ghostbusters slime and it looked like it been hanging around the store being all tapped up and marked down to only 50 cents!

In the Uk we have something similar. Ghostbusters Slime Tubs. They include ecto-mini style figures of Slimer, Mr Stay Puft and the GB Logo. They are clear plastic barrels with sticker detailing to make them look like toxic waste drums. The slime itself is the perfect consistency and a nice light green.

the colors are so different as well. The ghostbusters slime was so dark compared to the mattel slime . I never really liked slime... but after watching these vids ( last year as well) , i begin to like it more and more XD whaha

I just saw one of thse at Amazon. Anyone still seeing these around? I've never been to a Family Dollar. I don't particularly want to go to one, but I will as soon as I can, just on the slim hope they still have these. Just like to know how far behind I am...I can't believe these just slipped by my radar. This is what I'm TALKIN' about!

I always look forward to your videos and really like how you do not use Geek Easy to replace a toy review. Would you happen to know if anyone is doing playsets or traps utilizing slime? I would have figured a dollar store company would have made a slime pit by now. Keep up the good work Dan.

I have to say Dan I never really liked play slime when I was kid. I'm kind of a neat freak, but you review have may me want to start giving them real shot. The only real slime toy experience I had as a kid was the 2003 mutations Donatello which came with a huge can of slime I had no idea what it even was and my mom wouldn't let me touch it anyway.

How old is the Mattel slime? I find most tend to turn to gel then putty over time, no matter the brand. would be nice if someone cracked the code of keeping it that texture.

Have any of you come across this yet? My store only had a few cans and haven't restocked yet. Kind of cool seeing some officially licensed GB slime randomly popping up at the dollar store. :-)

we in The Netherlands, do not have such great stores here.. we have toystores... not with these kind of things , like ghostbusters :( We do have slime though... maybe i will buy it sometimes and check out, how our slime here is.

How do all of the non-Mattel slimes compare scent-wise? I remember loving the smell of the Mattel slime as a kid. Do any of these smell similar or are they all different?

That is a good question. Honestly, I don't recall a specific scent on these while I was filming. I'll have to pay more attention to that!

Oh wow! The oficial GB Slime Cans are $10 a pop in the US? And here i thought $13 a can down here was EXTREMELY expensive! Hope they DO go on clearance soon... so i can stock up! I just RUINED the one i had last night. Slimed a custom Venkman i had made, and the slime took off all the paint on the figure. Now it REALLY looks like snot... like im too sick to function snot. :/

Oh man, that's a serious bummer! Hopefully they get marked down in your area soon. Our Wal-Marts knocked them down to $5 a can, so I stocked up. :-)

***** yeah... i was really bummed out last night when i saw the paint come off the figure and mix into the slime. :/ Anyhow, i will let you know when the eppie for THAT review goes live :P I managed to get some cool shots before i ruined the slime, though! heh
