You are a wonderful man and someone allot could learn from. I see so many keeping fish just to selfishly hang on a wall. I'm no save the animals person but I am a "throw it back so hopefully someone else can have the forever memory" that you just had. Hell it could be even bigger by then! What if it's some 13 or 14 year old kid who every week just waits for the weekend for him and his best friend to fish everyday until Sunday night (my childhood). What if that kid gets lucky enough to hook it and even luckier to land it people don't realize how much joy that memory will bring you the rest of your life because I can damn sure remember all of my "monsters" from when I was a kid (to me most of them were even though the right term would be average lol). So anytime I see someone who throws the monsters back without a second thought I always have to say.."thank you" because the kid still inside of me is also thankful just the same!

We pull flatheads like that out of the Osage river regularly. We seem to have an abundance of these century old monsters in the river around here. Last year my son landed a 103-pound female. He was ecstatic. He also put her back and watched her swim away. She was a beast of a flathead.

I’m just north enough that I don’t have the blues. Took my kayak down to the Ozarks a few years ago where I could finally target them. Caught local bait, mostly gills, but the only thing they bit was chicken. Strange. My best was only 1/10th of the beast you wrangled. Rock on, brother, happy for you on that one!!
