How to turn giant air compressor to Full Automatic tennisball Gun. Go check out also toilet paper shooter that we made on the same day from Tamrotor Kompressorit website www.compressor.fi (the link is above our picture)
Anni Vuohensilta Hi Anni can you ask laaurii to see if you can rent a scooba tank compressor please and make videos like this they can compress to 300bar !!
Big thanks for Gardner Denver for working with us. We did 4 short video clips for their use but the videos turned out so nice that I made youtube versions of them. Their factory is only about 2 km from us so they are really near. We have also some plans to play with much bigger air compressors so if you have ideas that need lot of pressurized air we can make with Gardner Denver. Here is link to their website where you can see our toilet paper shooting video www.compressor.fi (the link to the video is above picture of me and Anni)
That compressor was shockingly quiet. I haven't expected that. The last compressor I used had only one tenth of the power/size, but ten times the noise. ;)
Take a look at what Adam Savage did when he made a ping pong ball machinegun, instead of drilling holes in the magazine, he directed some of the compressed air to the top of the magazine and that pushed the balls out extremely fast!
Same thing I was thinking. It looks like the balls are bouncing back and forth in the magazine. A little something extra to push them down should improve the fire rate.
I came here to suggest the same thing. It's not that it pushes the balls out faster, but if you equalise the pressure below the balls, and above them in the magazine, then you can let gravity do its thing.
With the feed tube at that angle, with the air flowing thru a straight tube it acts as a suction tube any holes in the tube besides the one you put the balls into are wasting energy, yes you can pressurize the magazine tube but it is not really needed. For an example of what I am talking about look at a water bed siphon, it uses a water hose's water flow to siphon out the water in a waterbed. The water feeding thru a straight tube with a side connection, at the mouth of the side tube a vortex is formed which pulls anything that can flow, thru the side connection and there is no need to worry about anything spraying out the side tube as the water/air flow always follows the easiest path.
This actually needs a gas feed system like an automatic rifle. Tap a pipe from mid way down the barrel and have it enter the magazine which is sealed with a screw on end cap. The pressure from behind each ball will send air into the magazine forcing the next ball out. Much like a Pneumatic Spring. Great vid as always. The variety and quality content of your channel is fantastic as is your presentation and Ideas in coming up with new themes for Videos. Well done again!
i have a very good idea for an airgun you could make. this version needs some improvement. theres an episode of mythbusters where they shoot tabletennisballs with a vacuum cannon. it goes like this: a long barrel on that the projectile(tennisball, snowball, potato, round icecube ball etc) almost perfectly fits (like 1mm space left on each side) then you put a tape on the shooting end of the barrel. the tape needs to be strong enough to seal it, but weak enough to break on impact of the projectile without slowing it down, some plastic foil might work. on the non shooting end, you drain out all the air from the barrel, making it a vacuum (the projectile needs to be already in the barrel before draining the air out. then you need a 2 way air switch that you can change from the draining vacuuming machine, to the air compressor. then you simply release air at as much bar as you can. the projectile gets pressed into the barrel because of the air released, and gets sucked on the other side by the vacuum. on the shooting end it simply breaks the plastic foil used to seal the barrel and then its shot out at many thousand km/h. im not exactly sure, but i think they reached around 2700km/h or so. the table tennis ball could shoot a whole in a pig, and i wonder what a tennis ball could do :D pls reply to me and tell me what you think of this idea, or if you have any questions (or cant find the mythbusters video) then feel free to ask me!
Saw this video on the feed, clicked it thinking 'how did I miss this before?'. Turns out it was uploaded today. I need to sleep more but then amazing content like this pops up and I click it and I watch it because I make poor life choices for my body, but great life choices for my entertainment.
Glad to be a Sponsor of this Channel. Awesome Tennis Ball Gun. Imagine those balls, shooting at tennis racquets. Would be hard to swing the racquet into the stream of balls, coming at you.
it would pretty hard because tennisballs go almost through the racket at those speeds. I think we shot some balls last summer and the racket can take 1-2 balls before it's gone :D
I have quite the idea for making this more awesome, would be making a fidget spinner, using tennis rackets(4 of them). Each racket would be made of a high strength material, all mounted 90 degrees from each other onto a spinning hub. This would have, racket shaped plates of steel spinning toward the stream of tennis balls, basically pulverizing the balls. One odd thought, I just had, was to shoot the balls, at high speed into jet engine, running at full power.
I would love to see a full mythbusters style show of these things with the design, build process and testing all shown. These are great but that's what would I'd want if you made a full show. Probably hugely increases time and cost though haha
The air from the cannon is not the force moving the cart it's the tennis balls. The cart wants to remain stationary until acted upon by an outside force. The energy of the tennis ball striking the cart is the outside force which moves the cart but the inertia or mass of the cart must be overcome first & that takes time. You see the same thing happen when you watch super slow motion videos of guns being fired. When you fire a gun the recoil starts immediately upon ignition of the powder inside the cartridge case. Since the bullet weighs so much less (has much less mass) than the gun it moves much, much faster & this is why the bullet is out of the barrel before we can see any appreciable movement of the gun, even the slide of a semi auto. I love your videos, you two have way too much fun.
do more of these videos. shoot up a car, some food, hell, anything! you will get so many views if you do that! y'all's work and ideas are freakin AWESOME!
If you change the angle of the magazine will it change how it is fed? Maybe more consistent or better feeding sistem just an idea would like to see if the angle would affect it ;) you guys are the best
We are going to make maybe much bigger version of this on the summer :D The 280 liter tank provides plenty of air for even bigger calibers, like watermelons :D
watermelon is highly inlaunchable with pressure cannon :( it makes a mess when tried. if U want to launch watermelon U need slingshot, catapult or rocket.
Amazing stuff. I hope you have that machine for a while. I think i would be good with potatoes, to make trolly chips. Maybe fired directly into oil. Exciting video.
I actually think after editing the video that it was my safety bolt that make the thing work. You can see that the balls are bouncing against that so they were still trying to fly out but instead of that they got bounced back in. That's why the fire rate was also much higher on the begin
Bubbles would be pretty sad to see a perfectly good shopping cart go to waste. Pretty funny seeing the tennis ball get cut from hitting the cart, awesome video!
Hey Lauri or Anni, I just watched your video with the jackhammer vs Obbleck and i think i know how you can get it to work. If you wield a Hook or loop on the Tool "Bit" (The part that hits the floor) and stretched a bungee from the Tool to the Motor part, so the the tool had force pulling it back up, it should work. It's just a guess because i don't know how they work but i think it's worth a try. Good luck. Great video by the way.
Call me silly but I had to smile when I saw a Petro Canada oil drum in the background. Like seeing a Tim Horton’s cup so familiar. Great video too, I watch regularly but for some reason first I’ve seen this video. 🇨🇦👍🏻😄
I'm thinking it needs a Venturi to help increase the " siphoning" affect on the balls. Also a spring or weight to push the balls through might help with feed rate.
Hi guys, really enjoy watching your videos. Maybe you can do a video where you break/snap off the valve from a scuba tank/canister. They hold a very high pressure and fly well. Or maybe explode a lorry tyre. They can take 500+ psi lol
May I suggest if you use this machine in a later video to shoot it at an actual tennis racquet? It would be interesting to see how the strings hold up, absorb the shock and to see what would happen if you made the racquet be stiffer by taping it down or looser by just standing it up. Great video can’t wait for the next one!
I made one out of pvc that shoots golf balls. I also made a smaller barrel that shot some lead weights. It would shoot the lead weights through 20mm plywood.
