Well, it's been over 3 months now since we packed up our household and moved and I'm finally able to get back into the groove of flying again. This was the first outing since the move and feeling rusty, I really needed a good flying day hoping get my Skyraider groove back. But, was it a good day is the question...

It's nice to see this legendary plane ( AD 5) fly again, even though it' s an RC. Still it's a reminiscent of the old days.! I had 3500 hours on this heavy attack bird in the war .! In your landing, I called it, " one landing , 2 touch downs "... but . Landing the Skyraider is rather hard ( difficult ) than the F8 Bearcat. in real life.! So don't feel bad. At least, no body got killed .!!! I love it, it's part of my life. Thanks for showing your video.!

Very nice flying! One of the best ways to improve is to admit mistakes and reflect over what caused them. Next flight was so much better as a result. Now living in TN, you are so much closer to Triple Tree Aerodrome! I don't know if you have been there, but Nall in the fall is coming up in a little less than a month and Joe Nall will be in the spring. Hope to see you there sometime!

@@Thercgeek I moved from Antioch, one exit away about 5 min drive, to Atlanta area. I fly at Cobb County RC, about a 45 minute drive now :(. So, do not get to the field often. Great facility but not the airspace I grew to like at MTRCS.

I’ve lived in Memphis my whole life. And trust me. You don’t get used to the humidity. Being sticky in the summer makes it miserable.

Welcome to Tennessee and to Cane Ridge field, Chris and family - a loss for California but a gain for us. Sorry about the humidity but we seldom get mud slides, earthquakes or forest fires ! Oh, and you might like this - unlike California, Tennessee has no state income tax - leaving you more money to buy rc gear. We have been watching your videos for some time but now we get a preview of them by being at the field while filming is taking place. It was a joy to see the Skyraider fly in person, nice sound system. My field is House Mountain RC just below House Mountain (of course) in Knoxville. BIG change of pace from Cali. Of course you're not going to have to deal with being taxed on everything. They Chris it's been a while but that's was a beautiful flight, both flights one landing. Lol. I haven't clown in a year and a half. Due to very bad Covid, my hands being the worst part of my recovery. Any tips to get back in to it. In Arizona we are just starting to get back in to our flying season. Help!

I’m really sorry to hear about the lasting Covid effects! I’d recommend starting to log time on the simulator and the start out with something easy and forgiving to fly for the first few field outings to bring back the proficiency and go from there. 😊

Having lived in TN all my life, I can tell you the humidity get real disrespectful. I fly at Cumberland flyers off of exit 19 on I-24. It's not paved, but well groomed.

Thank you! I do wish the runway was just a touch longer, but it’s good for most things really and the grass runoff helps with overruns on landings. And for those maidens I need more space, there are a number of fields within a decent driving distance that offer it.

Well I travel for work so much that I don’t have a membership anymore, but Middlepoint RC club in Murfreesboro is where I used to fly. Now I am fortunate enough to have a friend that allows us to fly at his personal airstrip in Lebanon, TN. I’ve visited Cane Ridge but never flown there.

One thing electric sound systems need is way to simulate the 10 to 15 Blade start up that Big Radials do on a cold start. Some way to turn the prop slowly (20 to 30 RPM) as 10 to 15 blades pass as the starter whine is heard before the first Barks of the Cylinders trying to fire. OH a little Oil Residue smoke would finish the Scale Radial Engine Start off perfectly. Great job happy to see ya back producing vids man.

Thanks man. I'm pretty excited to be able to fly these more regularly. It was a trek to be able to fly them in Cali based on the San Diego RC field situation. I do wish the field length was a touch longer though as it's a little short some of the larger jets still, but there are options under 2 hrs away if needed for those. :)

Yep! I never really stopped selling them. Just had a time where I had to delay shipping them while we moved. Well past that now and orders are shipping within 1-2 days now typically.

Yes the humidity in Tennessee is quite unpleasant, especially coming from California where there wasn't any, which I still have yet to adapt to after 10 years of living here, but it's nowhere near as bad as it is in Florida and Louisiana.

Absolutely fan-freaking-tastic to see you flying again! Welcome to HUMIDITY! Much like the occasional Tornadoes (the season is pretty much from January thru May), and the Brown Recluse Spiders (the season is pretty much ALL THE TIME!), humidity is a real thing in Middle Tennessee! We used to do P-T around 0630-0800, and even after a shower, I'd be drenched in sweat by 0930! Great flying brother, and it's not too often that folks show their flubs...warts and all. This is awesome in that you showed that we all have to "knock the rust off" after a time away. How far is that field from you? What a great new home field! Cheers my friend, and many happy landings to you!

Spent a number of hours flying a few Warbirds over the years. Had a museum I was affiliated with, that owned an "AD-5" Skyraider, painted in VietNam camo. Also a number of other warbirds, a T-28B which saw action in Nam, an F-7F TigerCat...even an ME-262! Yup! P-47D, and a few others. I laughed at the "engine recording", in sync. while advancing power! Pretty slick...nothing like the P&W R-3350, with the fragrance of 130 octane, and 60w oil, but impressive! Nice job! Enjoy Tennessee...

Great way to overcome a bad landing and prove to yourself that you still got it.🙂 I would like to invite you to Cookeville, Tennessee to fly with me and a few other pilots at Tennessee Rotary Wing Club on Sunday evenings.
