Eli and Favre were polar opposites. Eli would look like shit then come through in the clutch and win big games, whereas Favre would play like a stud all game and always throw an interception at the worst possible time with the season on the line lol.
Yeah especially that whole previous decade when he won 3 straight MVPs, a SB, and many other playoff games. All in the toughest division in football. Man gtfo.
@@60BloodyChamp60 How many Packers/Vikings playoff games ended because of an interception at the worst possible time? I'm not saying he was bad, he was one of the greatest in the game, he just had a habit of throwing INTs at the worst possible time in playoff games.
@@jeffc1347 well more than any Giants playoff games did because they didn’t even make the playoffs half the time. Meanwhile if we’re going to tack on the Vikings year let’s not forget Favre’s replacement had a little turnover of his own to lose the Packers playoff game that year.
Everyone remembers the two GREAT Super Bowl wins over the Pats - what some fans forget are two of the greatest playoff runs in the history of the NFL. They beat the Packers - TWICE, Favre and Rodgers. They beat the Cowboys on the road. They beat the 49er's on the road in one of the toughest, most brutal games you'll ever see. Eli Manning is a HOF'er without ANY doubt.
@Ryan Irwin- Diehl I didn't state he was better than Rodgers and Ben, I just said he was a Hall of Famer, which he is. You don't follow the Giants, obviously - they were 10-0 in 2008 and on their way back to the Super Bowl - for the second straight year - before Plaxico Burress shot himself. And Manning had years where the Giants put a horrible offensive line around him and few weapons. You can't even name a top receiver or running back they had during too much of his career. He was one of only a few in NFL history - to twice be named MVP of the Super Bowl. And he was a class act throughout his entire career. And, as I wrote, name me a QB who - TWICE - took their teams to the Super Bowl with playoff runs like he had. On the road. Against all the top QB's - and he beat every one of them. Including Brady - TWICE.
The other thing people don’t remember is that they had the worst secondary in the NFL. The front 7 found itself in the playoffs and that made up for all the coverage problems.
My daughter was almost one sleeping in the remote rocker next to me during this game. I was on call for the night. In regards to Tynes I Did not have faith in him hitting that OT kick because of earlier miss. Needless to say after that kick, I couldn’t contain myself at 11:30 or whatever time it was and screamed and yelled for joy waking the whole house up. Needless to say my wife was pissed and I got stuck taking her shift taking care of my baby for the rest of the night. Totally worth it. Can’t believe she is in HS now. Time flies.
That Wasn't Favre Last Pass As A Viking He Played In 2010 Season And He Was Still Hurt From That NFC Championship Game His Legs Are Never The Same That's Why He Keeps Throwing Interception In That Season And He Keeps Hobbling Back
This game marked -The last game for Brett Favre with the Green Bay Packers -The third home playoff loss for the Packers in the 21st century -The first conference championship victory for Tom Coughlin as head coach -The third time a team made the Super Bowl after winning three road playoff games
I was at this game, travelled from nyc to Chicago and drove to greenbay. this was by far the coldest game I've ever been to in my life. if it weren't for the fact that they have bench seating and I was squeezed by two fat guys from both sides I'd have frozen my nuts off. one of the best games I've ever been to. packers fans definitely the classiest fans I've ever seen. what a great memory
Success comes and goes, consider you have been fortunate enough to see them win two championships...there are fans of teams that have never gotten that much, many probably older than you or me.
@@theOGhuggybear here in brazil, tom brady is very popular in the press, because of gisele bundchen, and as i go against all that, i had the pleasure of seeing the contested eli manning beat this cushion twice
So many players stepped up. Tuck came out of nowhere . Barry Cofield was great. Kevin boss stepped up. 2007 playoffs was absolute magic. 2011 was great but 07 was pure magic.
What a run playoff run by the Giants that year. One for the ages. It was a tough pill to swallow watching them beat my no. 1 seed Cowboys after Dallas had whooped em twice in the regular season but I pulled for them the rest of the way.
I disagree. I think the 49ers game easily unseats this as the biggest Packers playoff upset. I mean people thought they didn’t even have to play the 49ers game. Nobody thought the Giants would win this game but they still had to go out and play it. Then the Packers go out and can’t even outscore the 49ers kicker.
I’m 30 years old. I say this with humility - I have experienced a lot of really nice things up to this point in my life. But this game, and the win in Super Bowl 42 were easily the most memorable and exciting moments in my life. I will never forget that feeling of victory for as long as I live.
“No ones given us a chance up till now, they probably still won’t. But that’s just the way we like it” is what Eli said after beating the cowboys to get to this game
I’m from Cleveland where we love our Browns and Buckeyes so I didn’t have a rooting interest in this game... I just remember watching it at a steakhouse during my birthday and thinking about how miserably cold it must’ve been.
I was in high school. This loss was such a heartbreaker, especially when you see that Favre had two receivers WIDE OPEN to his left. I was ready for a different QB after that.
@@petegilardi2593 correction: It's 2007, 2014, and 2016 (not 2015) because in 2015, neither Tom Brady nor the Packers made it to the super bowl that season. 2015 was Cam Newton's Panthers vs the Broncos in Peyton Manning's final season.
wow find myself as a green bay fan watching this some almost 15 yrs later. what a huge win for the Giants. and i always liked their radio announcer. listened to him a few times over the years
Say what you will about Eli he beat the packers at Lambeau in the playoffs twice and Brady in the Super Bowl twice. As far I’m concerned he’s got bragging right over Peyton forever.
that was trademark Favre hop step for a few lob to Lee in the corner touchdown pass. i miss that shit. especially in the 90s. he perfected the roll out quick west coast strike throw
Imagine how many more games Favre would’ve won in those later years if instead of heaving up horrible passes in situations that ironically for his cannon arm almost always were under thrown and got picked he had instead threw the ball away when he had another down to try and move the ball. The first one is on 1st down and he gets bailed out and the OT one was on 2nd down. I imagine that has to be the worst part if you were a fan. A desperation throw for a miracle when you have to score or you lose and it’s fourth down so there’s nothing to lose is one thing but the way he’d toss them when he had more downs if he would’ve chose to live for the next play had to have been maddening.
Great game by farve with no head coach (totally frozen out ,headgear covering half his face , no-matter he wasn't in the game at all ) head coach thinking " gotta get rid of qb " (tried to figure out how to for 2years) and all because farve wanted marriucci on the coaching staff ! ! Great game for -23 wind chill
Still have never seen the penalties on Madison (should’ve been 4th down) or the hold on what should’ve been a Bradshaw TD run. Wasn’t the last time there was horrible officiating in a NYG@GB playoff game.
They had like three golden opportunities to recover that ball. I agree the Patriots would have beaten any other team and finished their undefeated season.
This is considered a huge upset but when you look at the team the Giants had...it really wasn't. NY could run the ball with two backs. GB could not run the ball and forced Favre to throw. In the playoffs, in frigid temps, the more physical team that can run the ball will almost certainly win all all the time.
Okay what is up with Favre and horrible throws in OT of NFC championship games that get picked off? Did he have some kind of obligation to take risks at the worst possible times?
This is no longer the biggest upset loss in Packers playoff history. That now belongs to Fraudgers and his inability to outscore the 49ers special teams.
@@Sir_Robin_of_Camelot I agree, that game was ridiculous. Imagine having both Favre and Rodgers for upwards of two decades and only having two titles.... Same thing with the Bucks and Brewers. MVP quality players on both teams and zero titles.....
Seattle for sure. Green Bay absolutely had that game won and was dominating the entire game until the 2 minute mark. Wilson threw 4 interceptions and didn't complete a single pass till the halfway through the 2nd quarter.
