I like mine. I almost bought the Epiphone master built. Nice guitar but made in China, so I bought the Gibson. I don’t regret it one bit, and I like walnut! Great wood for guitar. A great workhorse.

I played this Guitar yesterday and I was really impressed. From my childhoud on I am surrounded by guitars and I'm a enthusiastic guitarplayer since the late 80ies. I played a lot of guitars in the last thirty years. I have noticed that really good guitars are very expensive. But this Guitar is the absolute exception. The qaulity of the wood is very very nice. The tops are no highgrade sitka tops. But you do not need cosmetically perfect woods for a stunning guitar. The whole construction is made very well, especially the craftsmanship on the tops is outstanding. These guitars are not the loudest ones but soundwhise they are really marvelous. I do not mean the sound is good for a guitar at such a cheap price point. After a precise Setup the sound and playability of these guitars can really compete with much more expensive ones. Maybe this Guitar is not loud enough for a bluegrass player, but it can be a friend for a lifetime for a singer-songwriter.

It looks gorgeous, as does the sticker price. Could you please play it more over the sound hole, so I can hear how it sounds that way? I guess you play higher up to get more cut, but for a demo i'd like to hear how full the sound is, or isn't. Thanks, looks like a winner.

Best value for any guitar made in a 1st-world country, beautiful-looking, great sound, still a traditional Dovetail neck joint. I wish something like this had been around when I first started out.

@@user-zc5ft9nw9b Actually I was living under the poverty line at that time and saving up $10 per week. I was a worker myself and wanted to make sure I was supporting workers who were getting fair wages. I could play, and learned to play on a Martin Backpacker, and it was time to get a good guitar. An import guitar would have been a good guitar. It would not have been an ethical one.

Man it sounds nice. Unscalloped braces, I believe, to save on labor costs, but the way it's braced, it certainly does not lack in bass at all, and the non-scalloping imparts a wonderful woodiness to the treble. Satin nitro finish, also to save on labor, perhaps is a little thinner than full gloss for a little more vibration as well? Not sure what witchcraft they use. The walnut, 24.75" scale and familiar 45 shape give it such a nice, punchy, woody oomph, versatile.

Martin already have the 15 séries which kicks gibson ass IMO for about the same price. I would still buy a Gibson J15 over those g45.
@PATRYAN84
@PATRYAN84 4 года назад
@@mathieupelletier4392 This kicks Martins ass IMO. I played a lot of Martins and at this price point the Gibson G-45 studio is beating down Martins at $1600 USD. Hence why a lot of Martins at that price point are being discontinued and marked down. Check out Martin GPC series. Also any Martin at the price point of $999.99 is probably made in Mexico and they do not hold up.
@mathieupelletier4392

@@PATRYAN84 It's a matter of need. These gibson are made of cheaper woods so they can produce and sell cheap. If you want a thru Mahogany or Rosewood guitar you'll have to pay for it. It's doesn't sound the same at all. I still think the 15 series from martin is the best affordable quality guitar. Like I said, it's a matter of taste and needs.

@@mathieupelletier4392 Deff. a matter of taste I own a Seagull Maritime, Martin GPC PA Ovangkol, A Martin D-15M, and now this Gibson G-45 studio. And they are all not to far in price from each other when you think how expensive some guitars go. The Ovangkol was the most expensive at $1600, the Martin D-15 was $1200. I think the Seagull was $700 ( I got it a long time ago) and the Gibson Studio G-45 I got for $800 having a 10% discount code. I have to say the Gibson Studio is my favorite. I has some Ernie Ball Aluminum Bronze strings on it and it plays amazing.

How much was the J15 back in the day, comparable to this one? Price went way up, but the 15 is a great guitar...
@mariodriessen9740
@mariodriessen9740 3 года назад
Right now in Europe the price of a J-15 is 1666 euro. The G-45 Studio is 949 euro. I expect them to have about the same figures in dollars, because Gibsons are always a little more expensive in Europe. When they came out they were 999 dollars in the US and 999 euro in Europe. The G-45 Studio I mean. If I remember correctly I bought my G-45 Studio for 883 euro (brand new) and at that time the J-15 was 1555 euro. So that's a huge difference in price for two guitars that are very much alike. There are a couple of comparison video's between the two to be found on RU-vid. In one of them I thought the J-15 was clearly better, but in another video I preferred the G-45 Studio, and in all of the other video's they were so close, it was almost impossible to hear a difference. I have a J-45 Standard and that guitar does sound different. It has more warmth and it's a little louder, but the G-45 Studio is more mid focused and therefore it cuts through the mix a little better, so the difference in volume isn't actually that noticable. It's hard to believe that Gibson could make this guitar for so little money. I'm still as happy with my G-45 Studio as the day I got it. In fact, I recently bought a heavier set of strings and downtuned it a major third. And this makes this guitar sound absolutely amazing! I bought mine as a back-up for my J-45, but I play it all the time now. If you can find one, don't hesitate. I don't see them on Gibson's website anymore, but I'm sure some stores may still have one. I hope so.

J45 standards avg about 2,700$ & in my opinion you are getting 1,000 bucks worth of that tone with this G45 & Gibson craftsmanship. This is a great guitar for an entry level player or someone one like me who already has a standard and wouldn’t mind havin a “beater geeter” I can take just bout anywhere leave the standard for studio/home/recording. Just when I was considering getting a Martin for in the same price range Gibson had what I was looking for again , taking nothing away from the great martins in that price range I just prefer the feel of a J45, 1.72 nut shorter scale , less tension , easier to bend. As for the walnut back and sides I’m a bit skeptic .. it doesn’t bounce the tone back like mahogany or have the warmth but manages to resemble the workhorse legend. I def. want one. As long as it’s the studio because the standard G45 uses richlite for its fretboard and bridge.. I prefer a real wood and rather take my chances with the walnut on the studio , and if it makes no difference then at least the walnut is ten times prettier.

I own G-45 Studio. I think Gibson realize these guitars are too value for the money, and they discontinued it. Now, they sell this new G-45 with playerport, but the buid material quality is not so good as the original G-45 Studio/Standard. Also, the new G-45 have no pickup at all, no binding, and they provide gigbag instead hardshell case. I upgrade my guitar with LR Baggs Anthem, bone saddle and pins, and redwood arm rest. With these upgrades my G-45 Studio is almost the same guitar as J-45 Studio Walnut. Maybe even better because of Anthem. But for half of the price 😬 I was so lucky because I had a chance to buy one of the last G-45 Studio in Europe 2 years ago.

Gotta hand it to Gibson for this one - attractive AND great sounding for 1K and ALL REAL WOODS! No Richlite shit - (got that Martin?). Absolutely one of my favorite Gibson acoustics I've ever played. I think the satin finish allows it to resonate way more than most Gibsons that have quick note decay - if that's your thing that's cool, but I prefer this any day. It's a shame Martin's model to compare is only available at MF and GC online, never really in stores. The Martin Custom D Classic should be available in all guitar stores. I own the rosewood one, it's a ridiculous value for your money for 1K Martin's are using junk Richlite on fingerboards and fretboards all the way up to 2K practically. Really annoying. Kudos to you Gibson for creating great beauty and value in one package!
@DCmey
@DCmey 4 года назад
I don't own a guitar with rich lite, but I have played several that had it. To me, it feels a lot like ebony. For a fingerboard it's a good material. You won't have to apply lemon oil, like you do for rosewood, or ebony. A snob wouldn't like it because it's not a wood.
