The balance is due to the walnut back and sides. Walnut (like myrtlewood) is an extremely balanced tonewood. My Breedlove all myrtlewood guitar is a phenomenal sounding guitar where you can hear every frequency range.

Their budget guitars hold up super well. I've had an epiphone acoustic since I started playing and I still find it the easiest action for songwriting no matter the genre. Stoked to see they're making more!

It isn’t just about the humidity of where the guitar is made , it’s about the people who are making the guitars and the working conditions and way they are treated by management. A happy workforce is a healthy workforce and that will come out in the products they produce.

There are a couple of comparison video's on RU-vid between the J-15 and the G-45 (studio). I remember one on which the J-15 sounded much better, but I also saw a video on which the G-45 was the clear winner. However, the J-15 is twice the price of the G-45 Studio. I bought the latter one and I'm glad I did. I have a J-45 Standard as well and I truely don't think either one of them is better than the other, but they do sound very different. The J-45 sounds softer, sweeter and it has more low end. It's louder, but not really noticeable, because of the more mid frequency focused sound of the G-45. Frankly, I bought the G-45 Studio as a backup guitar for the J-45 Standard, but now I just keep swapping them. I like the J-45 for the more subtle, finger style stuff, but I prefer the G-45 Studio for simple strumming. It sounds really well! And the case is just beautiful!!!

Emanuel b ; I haven't tried all of them, so I may have been just lucky, but I do love my G-45 Studio and I love its sound. But its sound is different to the sound of a J-45 Standard. A little more mids, a little less bottom end and a little less loud, although the difference in volume is barely noticeable, because of the mids.

Considering the narrower body and the slope shoulder aspect of this guitar, how do you guys feel it holds up as a fingerstyle guitar? To me it sounds quite tonally balanced.

As a man that is from a couple hundred miles south of Nashville I can confirm the humidity in the summer is massive and i could imagine it works be difficult to maintain the wood moisture properties correct here

I got a G45 Studio. Played both. Didn’t like the rich lite fretboard , and bridge on the Standard. Also the Nitro was peeling off the rich lite on fretboard on both Standards they had in the store. Liked the walnut bridge and fretboard on the Studio

I spent about 2 hours at our local guitar shop. I tried the J 45's, the Deluxe models, I tried the Taylors, Martins and etc. However, I pickup the G 45 and started playing. I almost pissed my pants when I heard how incredible it sounded. The action is smooth and well balanced. That's not all, I was blown away on how it sounded when I plugged it into the Fishman acoustic amp. I went home that evening and thought about it. I returned the next day and purchased it.

I actually like the walnut guitars better. they have a different mid range and their eq is less v-shaped compared to the standard j-45.

The standard is more low end , studio is more in ur face and has the sweet solid wood tone that I can’t explain

Louder is not always better, the one with the back binding is more complex, better for recording i would say. ✌

The G series has a 16" (flatter) fretboard radius, whereas the standard series (such as the J-45) have the traditional (for Gibson), and very comfortable 12" fretboard radius.

Studio is brighter and standard has good low end, is it because of satin finish on studio and glossy on standard ?..I have heard that satin or lesser/thinner finish make the top more resonant

The Studio is more janglie which makes it seem louder. The gloss one has more bass.

A smaller bodied guitar is louder n the difference is in the fret board. That is how much the fretboard does to the sound. Notice the difference in rosewood n ebony fretbiards. Not a lot be noticable

The Standard sounds a lot fuller, even through the lower mids. The Studio the body resonates less and you hear the strings more. Notice which guitar he goes back to in the post scene? For me that speaks volumes. Really disappointed with the sound of the pickup though.

I own G-45 Studio. I think Gibson realize these guitars are too value for the money, and they discontinued it. Now, they sell this new G-45 with playerport, but the buid material quality is not so good as the original G-45 Studio/Standard. Also, the new G-45 have no pickup at all, no binding, and they provide gigbag instead hardshell case. I upgrade my guitar with LR Baggs Anthem, bone saddle and pins, and redwood arm rest. With these upgrades my G-45 Studio is almost the same guitar as J-45 Studio Walnut. Maybe even better because of Anthem. But for half of the price 😬 I was so lucky because I had a chance to buy one of the last G-45 Studio in Europe 2 years ago.

Something not right about that internal pickup; it was buzzy. Wonder if it’s a bad battery or over driven. Otherwise, wow for an American made guitar, that’s affordable and worth my hard earned money.

PSA: Gibson updated the Standard in 2020 and swapped the Richlite board and bridge for rosewood, now calling it the “Gibson G-45 Standard Walnut.” I liked the Richlite more. You do you nephew.

Caleb Brown There is no comparison. These guitars are junk. I own one. A simple Epiphone is twice the guitar. I own 10 Gibson’s. I love them. These are unbelievably bad.

Yeah man, I've got one, all solid woods. Sitka Spruce top, walnut back and sides, utile neck (similar to mahogany apparently) and rosewood fingerboard. They were Richlite, but swapped it to walnut in 2020 apparently. Hope that helps

The Standard does have a little deeper bass because of the richlite fret board and bridge I decided on the studio, with the walnut fretboard and bridge, it is a little brittle sounding at first but, the more it is played the more it opens up and gets fuller sounding. They both come with a real Gibson brown hard shell case, not a cheap one, and are great sounding, and playing guitars

Lots of comments by idiots with closed minds who've never played one. These things sound beautiful and are a pleasure to play. The Standard does sound a little fuller/richer, with a little more bass - you wouldn't think the gloss top and Richlite would make so much difference.

They are revamping and restructuring at Gibson, want to compete with Taylor,So in that vein you got a all-wood body with a pick up system and a hardshell case,Much better improved quality. You don’t even get into real wood on the Taylor until you spend $2500. So good for you Gibson
