I am so glad this didn't turn into 'haha wizard loses' and actually acknowledges the imperfections of the gigachad. This was unexpectedly a perfect way for these characters to interact.

The disguised wizard using Jacobs normal voice but with the wizard's speech patterns is such nuanced foreshadowing! Truly a masterpiece!

The Wizard deliberately breaking all the casting rules to get Chad to call him out on it so he can retort with "Oh, no more 'Yes, and'?" felt really on brand for an intelligent, manipulative wizard

"I don't hate myself even if I hate a decision I made." That line...that one line...that hit something in my soul and now I'm sitting here watching a funny video about Wizard vs Gigachad while having a moment of self-realization and empathy. This whole thing is gonna stick with me beyond DND!!

The oathbreaker line is an underrated moment for me because, like the rest of the video, it works on multiple levels (but in a particularly unexpected way). What seems like an obvious win for Gigachad -- refusing to take the bait and stoop to his level -- betrays a willingness to sacrifice personal (and possibly group) comfort, or at least his own hopes for that particular character and campaign, all in the name of "yes, and".

That cut to the empty table felt so surreal. Of course we all know it was just Jacob on his own acting out different characters but seeing it at such a juxtaposition with the previous scene felt so strange it gave me goosebumps. Awesome.

I love how Wizard just picks up more and more bad habits with every episode. Now he's playing video games while the DM is talking.

Ok, I actually finished the video now, and I've gotta say, you can officially be XP to level 4 now, because you've taken your writing to another level. That was some of the best narrative craft I've seen, from introduction to buildup to sparring to climax... I revelled in every unexpected turn. All I gotta say to the DM is, Yes, it had to go that hard. Yes, it had to be that meta. Yes, it has to be that unapologetically crazy. Because it's you. And we thank you--each of you, all of you--for that. Keep going, JP(s).

This is the best XP to Level 3 video Jacob has ever made. At first I thought that it was just going to be Wizard being an ass until Chad finds a way to demoralize him. It wasn't until mid way through when they start comparing each others need to have control over the table, how they're part of the same coin and who they are to Jacob himself that this video really started getting me hooked. The part about Jacob talking about his time as a youtuber both as himself and the 2 characters was the cherry on the perfectly made cake (The chance for more Wizard and Chad adventures is cool too)

This video alone it just... wow. It really shows how amazing a DM this guy his. How, real he is, and how he can control those feelings to show or not.

This is the great culmination of 7 years of effort and serves as a dissection of both his most popular character archetypes and there reason for being. Amazing!

ok but that battle between the wizard and the chad where they kept countering each other's plays in both valid (up until the wizard does an illegal move of course) and in character ways was so impressive, especially because of how fast paced yet understandable it was Looking back, the one thing is that even when chad's smites got countered (aside from the lvl 3 smite that was portented) he still should've been able to make an attack roll

The Wizard speech from 8:44 to 10:05 was incredible. He had all these words ready in his mouth and putted them out like a fireball.

This deserves to be it's own DnD campaign

How the hell do I put this into words. I’ve been following your channel on and off for years watching and absorbing all your content. Literally using it as a framework for my own dnd campaigns. Inspiring me to be my own gigachad at each table I join and also to be my own wizard at the tables that deserve it (insert evil laugh in fireball) you’ve become such a constant normality in my life spending just a few minutes…maybe an hour a day to relax and bring me joy to my mundane life…but this video, this video Jacob this meta defining introspection of a video really caught me off guard and made me look back on everything you’ve done and everything you’ve been able to share to me and your community and I’m nothing but proud and honored to witness it with you. Coming into your channel at just 10k subs (still something to be proud of to this day) and be a part of your journey to where you are now has been nothing short of amazing. Duuuude, Jacob. The back and forth casting at 10:05 is one of my favorite moments of any video. Especially after the Wizard's maniacal monologue. It almost makes me wish combat in DnD could be this fast paced.

Something about the duel scene scratched something in my brain. Like- it was just so freaking clean! Genuinely felt like a mage battle. The back and forth, the dialogue mid combat, and ESPECIALLY the way that the rules of the game get woven into it. LOVED IT, some of your best work!!!

This was really awesome! I've never felt so in awe of a video, full of detail with the foreshadowing and an ultimate climax to a confrontation between two of your characters. Best video on RU-vid for me.

This was so much more entertaining than I thought it'd be. I especially loved that the Wizard was willing to use different things he'd experienced in previous wizard episodes in order to get the upper hand in their duel instead of just using Fireball, but still throwing in an attempt to use Fireball amidst all of it because that's still his favorite. And I loved the back and forth of their personalities clashing as well, the dialogue in general was excellent. I was on the edge of my seat, and I laughed a lot. 10/10

this is what dnd is about, learning about ourselves by dividing ourselves to pieces we can understand. characters, the selfish wizard and the noble paladin, both aspects of the same man. on a completely related note play slay the princess

I have been watching steadily since the cleric song days… and this may be the best piece you have made yet. That is not to say anything bad about your other works but this one just hits! Amazing concept, executed flawlessly and the meta spice was just right! This representation of the constant struggle we face as both a group and within ourselves is just so aptly on display here. I am a forever DM now, started as a player years ago and grew my own group in the wake of the pandemic. You are a content creator whose works have helped me deal with some of the hardest parts of DM’ing with brevity and wit, but also honesty. I, and the Mizfitz, all thank you for your services and your comedic wisdom. Keep up the great work but remember to care for yourself as we only have in Jacob, no matter how many characters you play at your own table.

I like how the wizard is blind to the his own folly “ I’m unique! Everyone knows someone that plays just like me!” It’s a such a wizard thing to have happen. Also I like that DM is a character himself instead of being Jacob.

This is a great video! Seriously well done, it had an interesting plot, jokes, an ad but funny when it was mentioned, character building and more. Basically, this one video ran circles around 99% of anime that have come out in recent years. Congratulations on 700k+!

What I love about this skit, is that it follows pretty much an identical story structure as your typical dnd story. Starting off with a plot hook and then the players run with it and keep taking left turns until the story is completely different to what the dm, the players or us the audience could possible foresee coming. This is what makes ttrpg stories so different from any other type of story one can create. The only real comparable thing would be certain improv games. This skit feels like a dnd story. Incredible detail!

Hey bud, you did good. We're proud of you and love your content. Seriously, I discovered you off of Critical Role, alongside Jocat, Zee, Blaine... Each so uniquely their own, yet cohesive, which is why I love D&D and the community that defines it. All of them have a face to play, you alone stand here as the man of many faces, who is always relatable, always funny, always entertaining, always in high-spirit. (dont tell them) But you're the person I'd choose to have at the table every single game. You take control when things are chaotic, you humbly sit back and watch when things unfold, you build up new players by letting them know that they are allowed to make mistakes and ask questions and you showcase the possibilities of just how far outta whack a campaign can go if you let it and it would be the most fun campaign ever. How you blend actions and consequence have had a profound impact on how I look at gaming, something as simple as "shatter has a radius", so you invent a consequence for that little detail that's inconsequential, but could go any way depending on what the players choose to do, they can focus on it and it can become a whole hornet's nest of a side-quest, or it can be ignored and they can continue with the story. Honestly, your channel is perfectly labeled, XP to Level 3, worthwhile experiences that teach you all there is to know about being a player, not just a character, so when you're done with the Day 0 intro to a campaign and everyone meets up for the start of the campaign at lvl 3, everyone knows that they're there to have fun, not cause fights, not control the game, not sit back and do nothing, not just be a helping hand, but actually play the game in all it's personas. It's been 7 years, in that time you've gotten married, made a mini and inspired millions to give D&D a go, or simply to be better players, because it's not just player x DM, everyone's story is intertwined and something as simple as letting someone try can make a big difference in how they see the game and how much enjoyment they get out of it. Thank you from all of us, for the years of great content and continued contribution to the D&D community, whether it's players, or just people who find it cool. The wizard and the giga chad combined in a party, working together, covering for each other’s weaknesses, buffing the other’s strengths. Jacob is clearly a hell of a DM, but I’m not sure anyone could challenge a party with these two working together.
