Gilbert Arenas: The SUPERSTAR SCORER draining 40 footers BEFORE DAMIAN LILLARD | FPP

In his prime, he was one of the top scorers in the NBA, but a knee injury derailed his career at a time when he still could have improved. He was a threat to go for 30 or more on any given night and wasn't backing down to anybody. Gilbert Arenas began as an unlikely star on a deep Arizona Wildcats team alongside Richard Jefferson, before showing quick improvement on the Golden State Warriors. Even though he was a second round pick in 2001 NBA Draft, just like at Arizona, he proved the doubters wrong by winning most improved player in his second season. And his short lived time in Golden State saw him pair with young guys like Antawn Jamison. Larry Hughes and Jason Richardson. After two years he was a Washington Wizard as he was brought to inject life into a team transitioning out of the brief Michael Jordan era, and although they featured Jerry Stackhouse, injuries held him back and Arenas got to take the reigns. After 4 years in Washington he was a 3 time NBA All star and one of the league's brightest young stars as one piece of trio consisting of him, Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler. But then at the age of 25 a knee injury took his prime from him and he was never the same. He would get himself in a serious locker room gun incident with teammate Javaris Crittenton, before being replaced by a rookie John Wall. After that he would spend half a year with the Dwight Howard led Orlando Magic and a bit of time with the Memphis Grizzlies, before his career came to an end at the age of 30. Fans only got a small taste of what a healthy Gilbert Arenas was capable of, but in a different era of basketball he was the predecessor to Damian Lillard.

Crazy part is Gilbert stated it wasn’t the knee it was his mind he lost his confidence. Gilbert was amazing I think he rushed back too soon I honestly think Gilbert should have taken 18 months to two years off. I also think Gilbert should have converted to a six man role a team Like Miami could have used him in the 2010-2012 seasons

‘No chill Gil’ was one of my absolute favorites in the mid ‘00s. I had his jersey and a pair of his signature adidas sneakers. I started shooting deep 3’s because of him. I remember being so disappointed when he declined so rapidly. P.S. A suggestion for another one of my favorite ‘00s player is Deron Williams.

He slammed Hakeem Olajuwon about how he was having guys pay him a lot of money to hurt his foot work, and he was saying that foot work is outdated in the NBA today and Ralph Sampson, his teammate even called him out and said that he doesn’t know what he’s talking about

Gino Riney took the throne at grant after Gil graduated as a sophomore gino average 33 a game on varsity. I can't explained what happened with gino bc it was sad 😔 but in 3 years you'll see my son Ballin like gino guaranteed. Gilbert made it he's my boy also but gino was like watching iverson in high school basketball.

In my opinion Arenas was and it is still to this day highly overrated, he has a very poor FG%, he avereged 9/20 - FG/FGA and that tells me he was a ballhog and that he needed a large volume of shots in order to gain numbers. Ideas for future videos, forgotten players like : Truck Robinson, Brian Winters, Purvis Short, Xavier McDaniel, Terry Cummings, Jeff Malone, Fat Lever, Michael Adams etc.

Was a diff time my nigga , name 1 elite scorer from that era who shot jumpers and was efficient 😂 , kobe , Tmac , AI , Gil all those dudes shot pretty inefficient compared to scorers today , it was alot less space in that era
@theghostofbabanovac7069
@theghostofbabanovac7069 11 месяцев назад
@@moneyman4740 Fair enough what you're saying but those guys that you've mentioned had consistency, they would put up similar numbers no matter the club...Gil appeared to be more of a guy who cared about his numbers than winning, i mean i don't want to fully downplay the guy, he was a 2nd pick overall ffs 😂, he was excellent given the context but he and some of his fans act like he's in top 100 nba players in history, like he had unique talent...when it's not the case. I don't see Arenas being better than cats like Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, Mark Price or Kevin Johnson, not HOFers but solid players to say at least. Gil was more like a Deron Williams, he had a spectacular and meteoric rise.
