Gillette Adjustable Fatboy Showdown: Bottom Dial Vs. $1.95 Fatboy 

Kypros Christodoulides I have researched and it said that there were only 18 bottom dials made. There is one on EBay for $3,500.

Hi Daryll, Thanks so much. Yes Gillette should start production again. There are so many Companies still producing DE Blades and they aren't doing that for fun. There's a huge market out there that just needs encouraged and educated, they wouldn't look back, that's for sure. All my best, Stevie in Scotland.

@@stevied8855 old post but if they did it would still be Chinese made and Gillette in name only and would be no where close in quality vs the old ones. they actually made some razors recently but nothing Gillette about them.

Red Island Shaver love the Feather blades. And you about have to use them in adjustables. Otherwise they can be too sharp. But they really work good in my 1960 Fat Boy

The Shaving Realtor it doesn't cause damage, however it certainly doesn't allow the mechanism to work freely. It's like pushing the brakes and the gas the same time

abrahamchapman you are correct that my personal opinion is that the slim is better than both, however that is not with this video covers. And for the record, slim adjustable was actually designed before the Fatboy as company records now indicate. Thx :)

RazorEmporium The 1961 model was developed before the 1957 model? That's weird. I would believe that Gillette had a slim version of the Fatboy on the drawing board before the design that became the Fatboy was on the drawing board. But the idea that the designs for the Slim were completed and ready to manufacture before the Fatboy does not make sense. In any case, Gillette's engineers had four years to make changes to the design of the Slim before production began, so the Slim is still at least four years better than the Fatboy. That said, a real contest is not between apples versus apples, it's between the Fatboy, Slim, Super Adjustable, and perhaps 1980s Super Adjustable (in 1979 the design of the Super Adjustable changed enough that it could be considered a different model). Somehow I get the feeling that Matt has many years of filming fun ahead of him before his run as the host of this channel is completed. On a related matter, the upcoming Rockwell Model T is a clone of the Slim, not the Fatboy or Super Adjustable, for a reason. It's difficult to improve on perfect, so don't even try (that's a bit of an exaggeration, there is always room for improvement, but the Slim is good as it gets; I have both a 60s and an 80s Super, and they are both a downgrade from the Slim).
