Gillette Sensor Excel v. Gillette Mach3 |

If you look at the negative ratings for these cartridges on Amazon, you realize many of these packages may look absolutely legitimate yet the blades appear to be knockoffs - people complain about dull blades right out of the box, or getting dull too fast. Surely the chinese have something to do about this. Gillette were still making these as of 2016 - I found them at the local Walmart store (not cheap!) and it was written 2016 on the package, but as for those sold by Amazon sellers... don't expect too much. Speaking of the Sensor Excel, I always loved those and couldn't switch to the Mach 3, the 2 blades had the perfect balance between shaving smoothly and not burning too much

I graduated High School in 1991 and have been using the Sensor Excel since! I've tried them ALL. I even recently gave safety razors (Leaf) a shot and can say without a doubt that the closest shave I can get on my face ( I use the Sensor 3 on my head) is the 2 blade Sensor Excel. No contest!

Respectfully I have to disagree, while I think the Mach 3 is definitely better than any razor that Gillette has made since and the pivot is pretty exceptional, I don’t think most people would agree that it beats the sensor excel and I think sensor excel is the pinnacle of cartridge razor engineering. In my opinion Mach 3 is the first razor where Gillette started developing bad habits. The handle not being centered behind the blades, too many blades, un dampened blades etc. just my two cents, great video regardless and obviously what ever works for you! I just had to defend the sensor a little bit here lol

Batteries in razors is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of.

TBH I was OK with ONE blade and grudgingly accepted two. What I noticed was the deeper you cut (each blade pulls up the hair a little for the next to cut), the faster the beard grew. That's probably a gillette/shaving industry trick. Maybe not. But I'm moving on to three blades. Yes, they do offer a closer, more comfortable shave.

Back to my Mach 3 Turbo Power handle and Mach 3 Turbo blades since Jan. 2020 Currently using new blades I have had lying around from 5-6 years, ago when I started trying out less expensive razor cartridges and handle alternatives. Gillette still beats them all with older Mach 3 blade/handle technology.

I began with the mach3 when I started shaving and it was a great shave. It was the best razor gillette had and the fusion didnt come out for several years. My mom had a sensor and I would use it when I was out of 3 blades and I thought it shaved well but the mach3 was more user friendly because of the pivot action. The fusion was a joke

Grew up with the original Sensor......moved up to the Sensor Excel....tried the excel 3 and the mach 3 and the Mach 3 turbo model as well......but missed my two blade Excel.....I think it is the pinnacle of razor design......slim....maneuverable.....light..replacement blades at the time were resonable.........has all the qualities of a great razor.....I think Gilette saw the money potential in more gimmicks and more blades.....and their business is to make more money.....

Oh you should do a shave wars on the new Gillette Sensor Excel handle and the After Market Taconic Gillette Sensor Excel handle! If you want to. 😃

Nice vid Tony, personally I think the Mach 3 is the best Gillette razor , all the others afterwards were just pointless with unnecessary bells and whistles on.

There is also a after market Gillette Sensor Excel handle you can get that’s heavyweight like the original handle made by Taconic on Amazon too.

Sensor Excel twin blade is the best razor 🪒 ever made. I’ve been using for 25 😊😊years.

This is so useful because my local supermarket doesn't have my beloved Gillette sensor excel and I needed to know if the Mach 3 is comparable. It obviously is and that's awesome. Have you tried Nivea shaving gel. I love this stuff. Puts the flat shaving cream blues to bed. This stuff literally lasts to the very last micron!😅lol

Try the Sensor Excel 3 if you prefer 3 blades, you'll probably love it!

Sensor Excel forever baby! Lol Everything you like about the Mach 3, I disliked. I find the shape and the size of the head cumbersome. First time I cut myself with it, it went in the trash. That was when it first came out in like 1998/99? Long time ago. I know most people liked it over the sensor, but until they stop making cartridges; it’s all I will use. I do agree though, 3 blades was as far as it should have ever gone. I do find it funny how both razors are still considered decent despite being over 20 year old tech.

I just ran out of spare blades for my Sensos Excel, which I belive I had since 1999 as my first razor. From time to time I think about switching to more modern and obtainable blades. Then again the price is still fine (but higher than for newer models) and the maneuverability is unparallel to all those fancy 3-5 blades

I think the Mach3 TURBO blades are better than the regular MACH3 ones.

The Mach 3 blades are just divine! Mach 3 is a Rolls Royce, Sensor Excel is a top of the line Prius.

Sensor excel, Mach 3 series & skinguard are gillettes best carts. Fusion is to pricey. Only 5 blade I’ve tried is Harry’s. Harry’s is decent but I’m a Gillette guy

great video i cant find that Gillette mousse anywhere..oh i had the sensor Excel in plastic handle won the metal handle in a bidding war on E-Bay yeah i payed a little too much but no problem i´m like you thinking the same i started out with Gillette Contour Plus in the early 90´s and switched over to Mach3 when it came out yes fusion and fusion power...then bought the sensitive powers to see what was better with power 3 blade vs 5 oh boy all these razors
