Are y'all not getting the meaning behind her saying that? The show excellently the captures self-hate of a biracial teenager. I had the same confrontation with my mother. I think a lot of people are here to hate on a show that does a good job portraying mixed people.

@@JoshMontecillo Ginny is just so mean and bitter.Like shes mean to people that she knows she can be,and that’s why she is so mean to Marcus yet so nice to all of “M.A.N.G” even if they can be really fake because they have clout in her school.She only went to hang out with the girl that kept inviting her to the club ,when all of her friends cut her off.She treats people who she feels better than like shit.And that has nothing to do with Georgia because even though Georgia’s done some bad things,she had reasons that weren’t horrible.Like killing her husband was because he TOUCHED Ginny.All she does is try to protect her kids,maybe not in the most heathy ways but she didn’t grow up healthy either.Ginny doesn’t have it half as bad as Georgia did,her parents are on and off and that can suck but not to the point where it’s her reason for being a blatant asshole.
Last time I checked they had that racist conversation and he chose to react the way he did causing her to break off the relationship right there on the bedroom. So she never cheated if they broke up. Like that conversation about the poem said enough for me about the type of person hunter is. When it comes to this reality.
I’ve never despised a fictional character as much as I do Ginny. She’s literally the definition of the mean girl in high school who isn’t popular, so she somehow thinks she’s oppressed. Do not even get me STARTED on the way she treats Georgia, I think I speak for a lot of the fan base when I say a part of us truly watch for GEORGIA, because she’s likeable, she has trauma but she doesn’t make it her entire plot line, she’s a mom trying her best while also keeping her skeletons in the closet. She’s awesome, she’s a badass. I don’t think the writers understand they’ve completely villainized Ginny, but they should really take notes and give her a better arc.
I think Ginny's arc did get a bit better in the 2nd season. Even though she's annoying to watch, her shit personality sets up a good opportunity for character growth and development later.
I just couldn’t stand Ginny long enough to find out if she turns into a good person who actually appreciates that her mom would give her the world if she could.
ok here’s what i think. when zion and georgia hooked up, i understand why she was upset bc she explained in the past that he always left afterwards and wasn’t able to have like any time with him. but when he decided to like stay, LIKE ACTUALLY STAY, i think she should’ve been glad???
I mean, I can't empathize with her character, but I can sympathize. I grew up with dozens and dozens of people that had a life almost as tough and unfair and unstable as hers and aside from the hilarious feminism, they were more-or-less like this. A lack of stability is exactly what ruins kids, and Ginnt got almost none.
i love how ginny and max and norah(though she doesn’t rlly have any problems in the show) get all the help they want when they are going through something and when abby is going through stuff which would probably be considered worse in terms of real life especially since she gets no comfort, then she finally says something and ginny gets to tell her “it’s not always about you”. It drives me absolutely insane that Ginny was so ungrateful for her mom. Moms arent perfect and make mistakes. But that doesnt mean they should be defined for their mistakes. In my opinion, Ginny's mom went through a lot to make Ginny happy and taken care of. Not everyone has that kind of mom and some people would die to have a mom like that. My mom isnt perfect at all and our relationship isnt always the best, but she does love me. Instead of making her already stressful life even harder, i decided to stop being stubborn and try to help her out when she needed it and acknowledge to her when i fuck up. I used to sneak out a lot, and get so angry when she would do everything to make me come home and i regret having all those fights with her. The cake scene really pissed me off though. My mom was worried that she wouldnt have enough money to bake me a cake for my birthday this year, but she scraped up what she could. It was early morning for me as well and i didnt feel like eating cake right as of that moment, but i told her i was happy she did this for me anyways and said i love you. I ate what i could, and my mom seemed so happy. For Ginny to react that way just annoyed me so much. Its not that hard to stop being so stubborn and realize that youre the problem. Its okay to admit youre wrong and apologize for it.
I’m not in an Asian family but she wouldn’t last a second in my house. My parents woulda put her in her damn place. I still can’t believe how much her mom lets her get away with my parents get angry at way less than that

Hunter pulled the racism put first in truth take it up with the people who decided to create this show. It a really flat show and it's just for drama they tried to be "cultured" but it completely flew over the writers head and the heads of many other people who fail to understand racism. Look back to the scene of what she talks about in her poem if you fail to understand you ignorant to a different reality of someone with another skin color. They failed with trying to be cultured and they failed with trying to focus on mental health. They bring it up once and call it a day.
she was honestly the most self-Centred character and tbf she doesn’t deserve Georgia or all her friends because she never helped them. In season 2, she always ranted to Marcus and never once asked if he was ok.

The fact that Ginny kept the secret from Max and her reason was that she loved her, but yet can't understand why Georgia keeps secrets from her to protect her because she loves Ginny is the most self-unaware thing I have seen
Ginny seems like the type of girl to sleep with your boyfriend and try to embarrass you in front of boys or bully you when it's convenient for her and then acting like the victims.
I think the problem Ginny has is that she wants everything to be about her and wants the whole world to resolve around her so much it has blinded her to see that she ain't the only one struggling.
I experienced something like this. I must recognize I was a very unstable person when I suffered from depression and as a consequence I had a really distorted view on things, but I once vented out to a friend and all she told me was: "You have to stop thinking that the whole world revolves around you" And yeah that was a really awkward moment for me.
The “not everything is about you” after Abby has been hurting for a week or two and everyone has been ignoring her was the BIGGEST load of crap. She deserved to be slapped, and I wish they wouldn’t have just played it off afterwards because Ginny needs some kind of checks and balances to know that she SUCKS.

Abby knew ginny was a snake from the start and I started seeing why episode two. like she even kept a secret from her friends (ginny and marcus seeing each other) just to keep the friend group stable. I think Abby knew “Mang” was dead right when ginny showed up

My friend did that to me i had a lot of issues more of psychological issues and family issues an it's been happening for like 3 years at that point and for weeks i was at my worst and i wanted my friends to be near me and listen me just that and you know they were close friends of mine so and i always tried to be near them and listen them when they are crying . So one day i burst into tears screamed and yelled cause i was done and couldn't control myself anymore and i was extremely ill so after crying i get down to go to the hospital and my friend came and said to me you know my mom is sick you are not the only one with problems . LİKE WTF WHAT İS YOUR PROBLEM İ KNOW İ'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WİTH PROBLEMS İ KNOW THAT İ M NOT ASKİNG YOU TO GİVE ME ALL YOUR TİME İ M JUST ASKİNG YOU TO BE NEAR ME A LİTTLE BİT MORE AND LİSTEN ME AND BE A LİTTLE MORE CONSİDERİNG . And i was already feeling bad because not being able to nice enough and can't being the solution for my friends problems because i had a lot going on with me . İ was already feeling bad enough and she said that to me implying that i was selfish i couldn't say anything . İ just quietly cried and went to the hospital and it was bad so bad . İ couldn't stop crying the whole time . İt was one of my worst days . And this wasn't even the first time or the last they were bad friends but i was extremely alone ( sorry about my english i just wanted to write about it )
@Melek I feel your situation. I lost my one and only sibling, my brother, last year due to overdose. It was and still is a hard time for me. I just feel like they were not there for me enough. Then again, I didn't approach them or cry in front of them even when my heart was heavy. I was afraid of being called selfish too. But now that I think, you being able to approach them, tell them about your problems, and let go all your feelings out didn't make you selfish. You've been strong enough. It was absolutely okay for you to expect some support, and if they didn't, to hell with them!! I know it has been a long time but I hope you are okay. It’s ironic how Ginny constantly ranted about getting her boundaries crossed by Georgia. At the same time, in her situation in season 1, she did not respect her mom’s boundaries at all, kept trying to invade Georgia’s boundaries by maintained being a bitch towards her mom for not wanting to share her darkened, traumatic past.
In real life this would actually exist because Georgia didn’t set boundaries on how Ginny should talk to adults. I would’ve had my ass beat. Plus technically Ginny can’t even have any close long term relationship with anyone except her mom who is secretive and which must feel like is the reason why she can’t develop relationships. Ginny hasn’t been much of a social person and she has a lot of rage. She just doesn’t have a filter or was able to learn basic sympathy earlier in her life

As someone who grew up in a mentally abusive household, I can relate to her character, only that she IS and DOES the things I could have never done (because of threat) so yeah, it's not realistic. It sounds like a vengeance story, but idek what she's avenging for tbh. But the way she has no sympathy for her mother even though Georgia gave her everything and even though she KNOWS what she had gone through... I'd understand if Georgia was actually abusive, but she's actually a good(ish) mom. To sum it all up, yeah, she's a bad person. The mean girl. I feel bad for Georgia and Austin. Georgia finally had everything going the way she wanted it to go and she was happy, but Ginny had to drag her brother to run away with her, and with the way she is they’re barely going to survive on their own. I hope in season 2 she realises that she needs Georgia and realises that she’s a bad person that’s too self-centred. And I hope that if she sees her ex friends again she apologises to them rather than her expecting one from them
Literally Ginny kept a HUGE secret from max and when max got upset ginny made her apologize. When she got mad at Georgia for doing the EXACT same thing, ginny still put Georgia in the wrong. Like WTF
