I recently did my 7th Suicide Prevention walk in honor of a family member I lost and there was a large group of people there walking for their lost loved one with a bunch of signs that said “LOVE GOD MORE” and it was pretty triggering for me because the family member I lost had a lot of religious trauma. It felt like they were implying that our loved ones would still be here if they had just loved god more and I don’t know if that’s what they were going for but it was poorly executed.

That really burns me. No hate like Christian love. I have a semi colon tattoo on my wrist. I hope it will help to destigmatize mental illness somehow. Maybe someone that shakes my hand needs one day needs to talk to someone, i dont know. But of course my family only sees an unwillingness to read my bible and pray more. Ironically i know the bible far better than any of them.

the first mentions of christmas trees, specifically, and more broadly of people cutting trees or branches for decoration in the winter, is well past christianization in germany. yule logs, as well, show up centuries past the area being christianized. The sad reality is we actually have very little record of non-roman european pagan traditions pre-christianization and have very little knowledge on how many different traditions came to be. I know it’s off topic slightly, but about the whole “being raised Catholic but can’t pronounce Catholicism” thing: it’s possible that she has a learning disability that affects reading and/or pronunciation. Something like dyslexia. Women and girls are vastly under diagnosed with these conditions. There’s countless women walking around with dyslexia, dyscalculia, adhd, and a whole host of other conditions and don’t know it. When I was a child in the 90s and my brother got diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia, I went to my school counselor and said that I noticed some of the same symptoms he has in myself. The counselor flat out told me that was impossible because “girls don’t get dyslexia or ADHD.” So I didn’t get diagnosed until my early 30s (I have ADHD, dyslexia, and dyscalculia). And even when it’s not that overt, there’s a myriad of reasons why girls and women don’t get diagnosed. So it might not be that she’s uneducated in the field, it might be that reading is difficult for her, and/or that getting the info from her eyes to her brain to her mouth is difficult. It also could be that one leads to the other. Reading is difficult, so she avoids it, so she isn’t well-read on the topic of Christianity. Just thought I’d offer another perspective.

Being a regional actor and having been a coach… I can say that living the wake-up go to acting class, meet with people about a possible film, go to an audition or film a video audition wash rinse repeat…. It can destroy a person. There isn’t anything going on. You are spinning your wheels “honing your craft,” but just getting a day job and building a career while audition on the side would be more fulfilling. Because after a year, then two, three… If you did not start learning to write, produce, edit, and be an all around filmmaker you may have nothing to show for your acting other than. “Man 1” which you actually worked for 1 day. You got paid possibly $2,000 for this one day on set. You get residuals, but that could be $200 a year. The math doesn’t add up. I stopped coaching, stepped back from indie production, and just started working a warehouse job to build a family. I still have an agent and book one or two professional level parts a year. My acting career is still happening, but I actually have a life that is not talking about acting 99.99% of the time and actually acting .01% of the time.

Around the same time I visited an actor friend in his studio apartment in Hollywood and it just sort of dawned on me that this is an actors life if you aren’t successful. Constantly trying to get work to pay rent in a tiny apartment until you die. I didn’t want that. I still want to act, but I balance that desire with the desire for financial stability and a home I can love. Still don’t have either but I’m trying. 😂

As a Christian watching this; I have so many answers to the questions that you have. You asked how a Christian could be protected by Jesus but yet be “afraid” when they see things such as the exorcist’s poster, witchcraft etc.. & then you went on to doubt the ability of God’s protection .First of all I’d like to start off with saying that God gave us all free will. We weren’t created to be robots, or to be enslaved. When someone loves and follows Jesus they follow him willingly. Which means that they accept him as their lord & savior & then become saved. However God tells us to stay away from witchcraft, black magic & those evil spirits that we might not be able to see. He tells us this to protect us, so that we may be aware. Since he knows that nothing good comes from it and that it is harmful, he warns us to refrain from it. Now if a follower of Jesus who knows this decided to rebel against him and partake in those things then that is their own doing. They know it’s wrong but they’re doing it anyways so then they’re hurting themselves. Now if you’re saved by Christ and if someone else were to do which craft on you or if there was some sort of evilness (physical or spiritual) trying to harm you, then they will not be successful because you’re a child of God, and God protects his children. Hence Isaiah 54:17 “No weapon formed against you shall prosper.” & Romans 8:37 “If God is for us, who can be against us.” That’s why it’s very important to study his word, because a lot of it has those answers that you keep on asking for in your video.

No offense, but they are new Christians, and God is already using them for His glory. This is like nit-picking everything they say and do. And for you to say that they are nothing special is really offensive. And they are actors, yes, but they turned from acting awhile ago. They are helping a lot of girls, and many have gotten baptized because of them. Mostly, everything you're saying is literally their past. Why can't we just not judge people overall? Ari is a young Christian, but so what? They are doing more than the average Christian out there. ‭‭And so what if she's older? Age has nothing to do with being a leader. 1 Timothy 4:12 NIV‬‬ [12] "Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity." I believe that these girls are being used by God, and i can't wait for them to continue their journey with Jesus. This video no offense is extremely based mostly on feelings and not logic. Probably the most abusive thing the church has ever taught is "God doesn't want you to be happy. He wants you to be holy." So stay in that abusive marriage or soul sucking job. Don't seek mental health assistance. Don't fight unjust symptoms. Anything that tangibly harms you physically or mentally can be of ultimate help to your holiness.

Your understanding of this is incorrect. God does not call us to stay in abusive relationships. We can separate and stay single if the marriage was a covenant marriage. Remarriage is adultery. God does not call us to stay in a soul sucking job. If there is a purpose to be in a soul sucking job for a season, fine. But He does not call us to a life of this. God does call us to holiness. Premarital sex is sin, Remarriage is adultery. We are expected to yield to the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives to rid ourselves of fleshly tendencies, AKA sin. Also, God can use adversity to do a work in us if we manage it using coping skills. How many people chase happiness and pleasure and never really find it for long? God has a better life for us. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Him. Amen.

As a Christian watching this; I have so many answers to the questions that you have. You asked how a Christian could be protected by Jesus but yet be “afraid” when they see things such as the exorcist’s poster, witchcraft etc.. & then you went on to doubt the ability to be protected by God. First of all I’d like to start off with saying that God gave us all free will. We weren’t created to be robots, or to be enslaved. When someone loves and follows Jesus they follow him willingly. Which means that they accept him as their lord & savior & then become saved. However God tells us to stay with from witchcraft, black magic & those evil spirits that we might not be able to see. He tells us this to protect us, so that we may be aware. Since he knows that nothing good comes from it and that it is harmful he warns us to refrain from it.

I love you both so much! So happy that I found your channel. ❤️ thank you so much for doing this for us. I am deconstructing from an intens time in an evangelical church. It wasn’t even that long ( about 8/9 months, but I went fully in it, 3 days a week bible study and everything)but I still got so much fear out of it. I can not even imagine deconstructing from many years. The fear is in my family line, because my dad was raised really conservative and broke with the religion at quite a young age. I was always happy about that. I considered myself always liberal and spiritual, but grounded tho, I am a Yoga teacher for example. But I am struggling with mental health issues from a young age. Yoga really helps me, and my classes became quite populair because I can help other people with it. In the church they made me feel that my mental health issues existed because of yoga and other things that I did in my life. That because I was still having depression and anxiety I was attacked and possessed by demons and the devil. It was scary. I am happy I took myself away from there. And I starting to trust my own path and intuition again. What a weird roalercoaster ride. I learned a lot tho. Thank you so much. Much love from the Netherlands ❤️ I would love a Q&A one day btw 😍 would love to ask you so many questions! But up to you ofcourse!

Girls Gone Bible talking about the "sacredness" of sex makes me realise conservative Christianity isn't just a death cult around blood magic but it also has a lot in common with sex cults. Sex cults are often described as being promiscuous, but the central aspect to them is sex is seen as a central part of spirituality and worship, and that people (it seems more often women) are told they do not have autonomy over their own bodies to do with them as they wish or to refuse advances. There's a lot of overlap with the whole you-are-someone-else's-property thing, the difference is you're being given over to multiple people instead of to one and that nowadays hopefully most people get to choose whom/if they marry... but being encouraged to marry young and influenced/pressured to marry someone in the church or same faith before you've experienced anything outside of the echo chamber can really undermine that "free choice", and then once you're married it's hard to get out, it actually seems like the churches are trying to entrap people to ensure they don't leave them.
@phi4721
@phi4721 4 месяца назад
Hmm. Interesting. I believe in waiting until marriage as a choice and abstinence can still mean having autonomy over your own body. Ironically, seeing promiscuity and its effect is another thing that motivated me to be abstinent. A girl in my friend's university got HIV and as revenge, is having sex with everyone she can get to sleep with her. Anyone who slept with her is having autonomy over their body, yet they're going to get an incurable disease for the rest of their lives. It's just not worth it. I don't think the "sacredness" of sex is a creepy thing. Sex is an extremely vulnerable position to be with someone. In that sense, it is sacred and special. Even in humanism, people are told that they should sleep with people who care about them because we have recognized how physically, emotionally and spiritually sex connects people. I'm saying this from the perspective of a more liberal Christianity. Girls go to university and are encouraged to work, people are encouraged to ask questions and people can leave church.

I very much agree with you. Many religions are just big cults with the exact same rhetoric as small cults. "if you don't believe in our god(s)/leaders/practices, you are bad and will suffer" is the basic for literally every religion, even those that believe in reincarnation, because they have rules and guides and leaders that tell you how you must live to do ✨the thing✨ (no matter what thing that is) When I went through my confirmation (I'm not religious, but I was trying to fit in), sex never came up because it was Lutheran teachings. So, I was lucky I that way. Many cult leaders will use bodily autonomy, sex (as a seperation thing), intimacy, money, jobs and person choice (outside of bodily autonomy) to control their followers. The "there is an enemy and I must never look upon them for I will fall" mentality is also very common in cults, because it makes it harder to leave. I am asexual and something that I always found interesting is how the actions that are mostly like Jesus (Jesus never canonically had sex in the bible I read), but me doing the same thing is "bad" because I'm not "following god's plan"... But I do know atheist former alcoholics that just stopped wanting to drink. The key things are community & support & good reasons to get sober.. If you have those things, you can quit drugs like alcohol, regardless of your religion. I don't know if I was "alcoholic" but I abused alcohol regularly and drank almost every day, even if it was a couple glasses of wine. I didn't quite "just stop" but I used an app called Sober Grid for community and read a lot of evidence based addiction/habit stopping information and lots of books from people who didn't use the Higher Power/steps. I thought about going to AA to make friends but I found the whole higher power and Oxford Group evangelical "you're a bad sinner who can't fix anything without a higher power AND this program" stuff made me feel hopeless and wanting to go get drunk. I became an atheist in this process, and basically embracing the neuroscience of habits and rejecting the supernatural was a huge part of quitting. Losing my former faith was a catalyst for me - the waffling back and forth stopped and after one last time going out for drinks where I paid attention to how I really felt instead of the script I'd sold myself about alcohol before, I stopped entirely, and that was almost four years ago. I do totally agree with the warning about using a doctor's assistance if you have severe physical dependence.

@@marissagimble6119I’ve watched their Spirituality and Demons video and there are several things that stood out to me. They endorse guys like T.D Jakes and Steven Furtick, and these guys are false teachers. They preach a gospel that is about them and self-centered and not about the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Their sermons contain several passages taken out of context and there is not a proper exegesis in them. Some of the things they said were true and I do believe God has taken them out of their old life, however the Bible warns us about these false prophets and that we need to test everything according to scripture. Also her saying (the girl on the right) that "It’s all Jesus" when it comes to denominations and Catholicism, Protestants, etc is simply not true. The whole doctrine is different. They’re new to the faith, but they weren’t properly taught, they shouldn’t be teaching the word of God if they lack the proper understanding. That is my issue I have with the Christian influencers.

It's literally abusive manipulation on God's part. I never heard the term "soul ties" but I remember that, when I was still in elementary school, a member of my family's church (my friend's mom) gathered a group of children (some older than me but also some younger than me) and told us that if we have sex with someone then a part of ourselves will be left with that person forever and we would lose that part of ourselves. Even at that age I couldn't hold back laughter and was scolded for it to which I responded by asking her to define the part of ourselves that we would lose and how we could tell that it actually happened. I don't remember the answer she gave exactly but I remember she fumbled around the subject for a while and the idea she was trying to express is that we know because of some extremely vague feeling it supposedly causes and some bible verses she quoted. I spoke to my friend about this afterward and she agreed that her mom was crazy.

As someone who has struggled with mental heath and is also a former Christian, the ‘only God can deliver you’ bullshit *really* pisses me off. It doesn’t work. No matter how good of a Christian you are or how much you pray, God is not going to ‘cure’ it. That is something that is really only helped by seeking out the help of a professional. Please, please, *please* seek professional help if you are struggling. Do not ignore or dismiss it because you ‘aren’t praying enough’ or whatever religious bullshit you may have been told. I promise you that it’s all just a lie to further guilt and control you. God does *not* ‘heal’ any mental health issues.

I second this. I had more anxiety and compulsive behavior and emotional valleys when I was still a practicing Christian. There are many ways to hold belief...or not.
@finnthef4g

@@not_you_i_dont_even_know_you Yeah, going into therapy and taking care of your mental health anyway other than ‘trusting God’ is heavily looked down upon in Christianity for some reason. It doesn’t matter how good your faith is, it matters how good they think your faith is. And if you’re going to therapy, they think you just don’t have a good enough relationship with God. Which is totally why people struggle with their mental health :/

I relate to this so much. My issues with anxiety were crippling when I was in the church. I couldn't talk about it because nobody understood and it just 'made people uncomfortable'. I finally confided in one of the leadership people whom I thought I could trust. She then turned around and told the head pastor who thought it would be a good idea to call me up in front of the entire congregation and 'pray out the demon of anxiety'. I was mortified. And I was expected to be better after that which of course I wasn't. I'm so glad I left all that BS behind, got therapy and started living an authentic life faaaar away from all that.

As a Christian I apologize that you felt that you needed to prove yourself to be healed. I believe that God heals and I also believe God can use therapy to heal. So many people think that being Christian is following a bunch of rules but it’s having a relationship with Jesus( seeking Jesus and getting to know Jesus like a friend) and following Jesus. You could be doing all the right things and still be distant from God. That’s why religion without relationship with God does not work. We are not saved by our works. We’re not saved by how much we pray, how much we read our Bibles or by how much we attend church. ( although great tools to use they do not save us) We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.” Before you get in the shower do you clean yourself? No, you get in the shower to get cleaned. Same thing with Jesus you don’t clean yourself just come as you are and He will wash you. He will change you if you let Him. He did not come for the self righteous He came for the person who realized that they need help and can’t do this on their own. He came for all of us, for we are all sinners and fallen short of the glory of God, Of course Jesus is a gentlemen and won’t force you to receive Him. I apologize for anyone who asked for help and didn’t get the help that they needed and for misrepresenting Jesus to you. As Christians we are to be compassionate and loving to one another and speaking truth and life over each other. Scripture says in 1 Thessalonians 5:14 And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone. Galatians 6:2 2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. James 5:16 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. We weren’t made to do life alone. He created you for community. I hope you have received the love and the support that you need. I believe that Jesus heals and is the great Physician. I also believe God can use people to heal. Who am I to confine God In a box. As a follower of Jesus I miss the mark and I ask the Lord to teach me how to love like Him. I hope you know that Jesus loves you and truly cares about you and I’m sorry that people or things in life made you think otherwise.

The notion that believing in Jesus isn't enough seems at the root of so much Evangelical fear and the need to do anything and everything that a leader supposedly Christian claims is God's will. Teaching obedience to authority and that skepticism is a sin whereas blind acceptance and WILLING self-delusion (faith) is a virtue is how one creates people susceptible to committing atrocities if their leaders tell them to. These people's biggest fear is that they don't obey, or don't obey quickly enough, that Satan or "the flesh" will stop them or make them hesitate and God will burn them eternally.
