Girls Und Panzer Battle Analysis: Oarai vs Pravda Part 1 

What I love most is how the entire battle is literally like Stalaingrad or you could say Operation Barborossa as a whole, an overconfident oarai (most of which are german tanks) heavily pressing their attack and destroying several russian tanks and end being surrounded due to their over aggressive blitzkrieg like charge(in an urban environment)

The most important battle of the series so far, until the Kuromorimine fight at the climax of the season. Oarai pulled an Icarus and flew close to the sun, thanks to the high they got from the cake walk that was the Anzio match, and Pravda showed them exactly what that confidence gets you when up against a superior opponent. Miho knew exactly what she was getting into, but everyone else were still on the victory high they got from the Anzio match and Miho couldn't truly convey just how outmatched they really were. And so the fall began when Oarai was inevitably encircled by Pravda, who actually had a proper plan than to just attack, and they were cut off, stuck with little supplies and no heat, inside an old church. And this was before the big reveal of why they were in the tournament, why the team was formed, to begin with. Momo's reveal of Oarai being shut down was probably the biggest part of the story until the victory against Kuromorimine. Now Oarai has much more to lose than the tournament, they'll lose everything if they don't win, their school, their home, each other, everything. But where can one go when they hit the very bottom? Right back up. And right back up they go after Miho embraces her position as commander and lifts everyone's spirits with the Anglerfish dance and leads Oarai out of the encirclement and towards a victory where each team showed off in their own way. Rabbit team and Mallard team taking the shots for Duck team, Duck team staying alive, Turtle team providing a nice distraction to disorganize Pravda, and Anglerfish team and Hippo team working together to trap and knock out Pravda's flag tank. Ultimately, this is one of the greatest battles in the series, period. Oarai learns to not be overconfident, Miho finally comes into her own as a commander, and even Katyusha gets humbled after defeat at the hands of Miho. This easily was one of the best and most important battles in Girls und Panzer, in both story and tactics and strategy. I really love the analysis of the story of this battle, as it's Girls und Panzer's storytelling at its finest. Seeing the girls we watch rise so high then fall so low, only to rise like a Phoenix and ultimately win against such a superior opponent that Miho had bad history with was amazing. It really goes to show just how well everyone working on the anime did when creating such an amazing series. I have been waiting for this one. The key part of this battle is the amount of detail that is incuded to help advance the story. We start with a simple desire to win following a high note victory, and then end wth the true stakes of what the fight is for. It moves the story forward, but also gives chances for character building. That is part of why I love this series; how it builds characters and keeps a consistent story movng throughout. Looking forward to the tactics video, because that IS-2 is one of my favorite wartime heavy tanks on the Russian side. Only the KV-1 ranks higher on my list, but havve to wait until Das Finale 4 to get that video of it in action with Yuri and the KV Kowgirls.
